Hi everyone! My name is Riley Juenemann and I am your Division 1 Lieutenant Governor (LTG) for the 20162017 term. I was selected to fill this position after I applied to serve on the Rocky Mountain District Board at our district convention, also known as DCON. I was assigned to the Eliminate and Club Building Committees. I am a senior at Frederick High School in Northern Colorado. I joined Key Club last fall and have loved it ever since! My goals for Division 1 are to line up a successor, help at least one Key Club member just like you get to DCON, and reactivate or charter a new club. When I’m not busy with Key Club or visiting my local Kiwanis clubs, you can usually find me with a guitar in my hands. I have recorded 3 CD’s with my jazz band, the Longmont All Stars, and play classical gigs at local coffee shops. Additionally, I play soccer and just started running on my school’s cross country team. When I’m at home, I love to let my sugar gliders out to play.

The structure of Key Club International is an inverted pyramid. This means that members are the highest governing body. The different levels of the pyramid are: • Members • Members of Key Club are just like you! They participate in their high school clubs, complete community service hours, and embody everything that Key Club stands for. • Clubs • This is your high school Key Club, where people with similar interests come together to make our world a better place. Offices at this level include president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, editor, and sometimes a director from each grade level. • Divisions • Divisions include clubs from several high schools. Each division has a lieutenant governor, like me, that supports the clubs and acts as a liaison between them and the district board. • Districts • Districts include several divisions. The Rocky Mountain District is made up of 18 divisions that span Colorado, Wyoming, the panhandle of Nebraska, and part of New Mexico. The District Board is led by a governor, secretary, treasurer, and editor, who are elected at district convention. • International • Key Club International is comprised of 36 districts. Trustees represent districts on the international level. The International Board is led by a president and vice president, elected at international convention.

Greetings, Rocky Mountain District! My name is Jessica Bae, and it is truly an honor to introduce myself as your new International Trustee for the 2016-2017 Key Club year. With a phenomenal sister district- Ohio, Rocky Mountain, and Missouri-Arkansas- I have no doubt that it’s going to be an amazing year. To tell you a little more about myself, I’m from Seattle, Washington and will be a senior at Kamiak High School. I love going on outdoor adventures in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, jamming out to Chicago and Art Pepper, and of course, volunteering in and around my community. My Key Club journey started the first week of high school, when I decided to attend a Key Club meeting because they were passing out chocolate chip cookies. But there, I was drawn to the close-knit community of servant leaders and the shared passion for service that prevailed. Key Club has provided me with so many amazing opportunities and unforgettable experiences, and as your International Trustee, I want to make sure that your Key Club experience is the best it can be. I will work to be your bridge between International, to ensure that your opinions are voiced in decisions that affect you, while keeping you informed on International occurrences. Throughout our time together, I hope to be an accessible resource and an approachable friend during your term in your respective roles. Together, let’s foster a strong sister district relationship that will enable us to share ideas, make connections, and work together to serve our homes, schools, and communities. If you have any questions, comments, concerns or would just like to say hello, feel free to reach out to me via email or phone(425.248.7258) or add me on social media. I would love to hear from you! I couldn’t be more excited for this service year with you all. It’s going to be a great year! In love and service, Jessica Bae International Trustee, Key Club International 425-248-7258 | jessicabae.kci@gmail.com

Telling Your Key Club Story Everyone has a different reason for joining Key Club, whether it be free food, friends, or a passion for service. Everyone also has a reason regarding why they stay. Make sure to tell your Key Club story to members and nonmembers alike!

Fall Rally Fall Rally is a great place for you to meet fellow Key Clubbers and get training for the year ahead! Divisions 1, 10, and 13 will be holding theirs together in September in the Casper area. More details to come.

The Eliminate Project The Rocky Mountain District Eliminate Committee will be selling awesome T-shirts in September to raise money for UNICEF’s Eliminate Project. Keep an eye out for these to go on sale, as the Key Club with the most orders (proportional to club size) will win a prize at DCON!

Service Project The Rocky Mountain District Board helped the Glenwood Kiwanis Club with their annual pancake breakfast fundraiser in the morning before their committee meetings. On the left is a picture of me twirling signs with Sadie, the Division 17 LTG.

Kiwanis and UNICEF partnered with the Eliminate Project in 2010 with the goal of eradicating maternal and neonatal tetanus across the globe. Now, we are extremely close to reaching our target of $110 million. Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every 11 minutes, totaling to approximately 49,000 infant deaths annually. However, for just $1.80, a newborn can be saved.

Organize a fundraiser for your Key Club. Donate any funds that you collect to the Eliminate Project. Have a “Miracle Minute” at your next sporting event. Play fun music and pass a collection can around the bleachers. At the next intermission, announce how much you collected and how many babies you saved. Participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF. You get to dress up in a fun costume and go trick-or-treating for a great cause. Make sure to watch for more details on this activity in my September newsletter!
