A Guide To The Major Emphasis Q:What is a major emphasis project? A:The Major Emphasis project is a Key Club project that is centered around the Kiwanis family’s ideal audience: children. Q: What counts as a ME? A: A Major Emphasis project can range from helping at planning an elementary school carnival to raising funds for building schools in other countries. As long as it involves children, it counts. Q: Are there any incentives to participate in ME? A: The RMD awards one Distinguished ME Award a year and there is also international recognition.

Fall Rally Recap! Shout-out to everyone that came and helped put on Fall Rally from Division 2, 13, and 16. I had a fantastic time and hope that you did too. It felt great seeing the group dynamic from all the Key Clubbers in Northern Colorado. I thoroughly appreciate all the officers and Key Club members that took the time to come and spend the day with other Key Clubbers.

Key Leader Recap

Connecting The Keys: October Update This last month was a busy one, but I found time to meet with each of our Key Clubs. My first club visit took me to Liberty Commons where I played some fantastic icebreakers and learned about some of the fantastic projects they’re doing for the elderly in Fort Collins. Fossil Ridge kicked off their year with almost 150 attending members and plenty of Key Club spirit. Fort Collins High School has made significant membership growth and improvements in organization since my last visit. Following the trend of club growth, Rocky Mountain High School managed to have a full house and plenty of innovation at their meeting. My home club of Loveland High had a fantastic first month with a fun Key Club kickoff and scavenger hunt among many fun interclub events with our Kiwanis club.

“Leaders become great not because of their power, but rather by their power to empower -John Maxwell Dirk Dykson Fort Collins H.S. President

Service in my eyes means helping out the public in any way we can. To make an impact within our community and our country, because the littlest acts can have the biggest effects. Service helps our community, but it also helps us grow to be better people and better leaders. -Josie Christenson

Doing service means that you did someone a favor or lent a helping hand, right? Well, as far as I’m concerned, wrong. To me, service means that you made an investment. To serve, whether it be a peer, the homeless, or mothers and babies in third world countries, means that you invested your time, effort, and most importantly, your passions into making a difference in someone’s life. -Annie Williamson

What does service mean to you? Service means helping others. Service is all about being there for people when it’s hard and helping others when they need a helping hand. I love service because it helps me to think of other people and focus on their needs instead of my own. Service is all about Character. -Dirk Dykson
