JIAYING LI. PORTFOLIO OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE 2022

FOREWORD

CONTENTS

For me, landscape is a catalyst for urban renewal, because it can stimulate people's activities and ecological cycle. A good landscape should be like a collapsible spring, with the ability to continuously create itself.

Landscape Project

Different from others, I focused on the impact of the living environment. I hope that from the perspective of human perception, different functions in the landscape can be changed according to people's needs, and a dynamic balance between human activities and the landscape will be found . Therefore, my five projects mainly explore the following two themes: resilience landscape and common ground, which will be dug further in my future learning.

In summer 2019, I attended a workshop about Tai Lake. After conducting a large amount of data analysis and research, I decided to discuss the phenomenon of floods caused by the El Nino disaster in the Tai Lake region, and proposed a flood-controlled resilience system in response to El Nino.

Flood Management

When El Nino arrived, the surface of the Suzhou Bay area rose rapidly. The wave protection dike can prevent part of the flood from entering the site, slowing down the rate of flooding, and the ecological dike can further slow down the flooding of rainwater. The remaining floods from Tai Lake and inland rivers can be quickly discharged into artificial wetlands through artificial rivers to prevent flood in the city. At the same time, the riparian buffer zone can effectively slow down the rate of flooding into the site. The water detention ponds, filter strips, farmland and fish ponds in urban areas can also play an important role in water storage.

Artificial River

Ecological Dike

Part of the Wave Protection Dike are connected to the road, and people can walk, bike and other activities on it.

Conch Shell

The ecological dike is constructed by crustaceans such as shells and conches from Tai Lake, which is beneficial to the establishment of habitats.

CHALLENGE 01 DUXTON: HIGH-DENSITY COMMUNITY Singapore Building Density Analysis

URA cycling plan

High-density HDB VS Normal HDB Although high-density communities have more carbon emissions, the average carbon emission per capita is decreasing, which shows the highdensity community is a possible solution for a low-carbon city.

High-density community residents have lower place attachment and weak neighbor relationships.

Duxton Residents Demographic & Carbon Footprint As one of the most expensive HDB in Singapore, the proportion of middle-aged residents and elderly residents are higher than other groups.

Duxton is located between two ura plan cycling town, the bukit merah and the central area, which makes du has a potential to become a cycling town transition zone and can encourage low carbon cycling lifestyle.

Playing the piano together

During the day, people can bask on the lawn, camp, drink coffee, attend parties in the afternoon and meetings in the evening. The party's steps have a height difference of 1.2 meters, which is more convenient for people to talk. The bales on the lawn are about 2 meters high, allowing people to rest on their backs.

Inconvenient Transportation

Creat a Bridge

When I was a junior, my tutor encouraged me to participate in IFLA, because I had a strong interest in the subject of common ground. I hope that by constructing dimensional transportation, creating a circular system, and adding traditional Norwegian customs, this site will be animated to attract people around it.

Context There is a lot of traffic on the road passing through the site, and the site is empty in a place with no shelter for rain.

The bridge provides easy access for people and creates more space.

SITE

Historically reserved farmhouses are unused and lose value. The L-shaped house on the site is a historically reserved farmhouse.

Re-propose the concept of urban agriculture, using secondhand trading and berry sales to form a self-sufficient circular economy and energy system.

The site is a reclamation land on the east coast of Singapore. This project aims to utilize a dyke of the reclaimed land as a landscape infrastructure for cyclists and new developments. With a polder system for 442 hectares of reclaimed land, the dyke is not only to protect the reclaimed land from sea-level rise issue, but also to insert key infrastructure and activity space for future development on the newly reclaimed land.

This is a small-scale view of flower design with an area of 100 square meters, a length of 30 meters and a width of 2 to 4 meters. In this design, various elements such as planting species, white sand and art installations are used to shape the pillars. Use scattered white sand, the landscape lights and other elements describe the various forms of "Qiongzhu" around the plants, taking into account the different scenery of day and night, echoing the unpredictable changes of the early summer and the rain.

LED Light Bulb Decoration Lamp: The round ball light is 8cm in diameter, supported by a stainless steel rod with a height of 80cm and a diameter of 1cm.
