arts community thrives in Fort Collins where town and surrounding landscapes inspire artists living and working here. Not content to be a passive player, the city transforms utilities boxes into murals, alleys into installations and water into the music of children playing.

The Global Village Museum of Arts and Cultures showcases international folk art to inspire visitors to learn more about world cultures, people, art, and history in order to promote cultural understanding and peace.

Come see why the historic area of town has been officially certified as The Downtown Fort Collins Creative District by the State of Colorado.

ART IS EVERYWHERE Drop into one or more of the many private galleries or The Museum of Art Fort Collins featuring a diverse showing of travelling exhibitions and the work of local and regional artists.

On campus at Colorado State University, stop into Gregory Alicar Museum of Art to view the permanent collections or a current exhibition. Or check out Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising to learn about people and their textiles, dress and interior furnishings.

FC MURAL PROJECT

What happens when you put artists and art lovers together with the idea that “Every wall deserves ART”? You get collaboration and beautiful murals. You can’t miss them.

ON STAGE Catch a performance at one of the Lincoln Center stages where national and local acts play the main stage and local troupes, such as Open Stage and Debut Theatre, perform in the more intimate theater. Or check out the schedule at Bas Bleu Theatre, a beloved venue that was reclaimed as a performance space from a historic machine shop.

On the classical end, Fort Collins enjoys an opera company, a symphony and a ballet troupe.

Art in Public Places Small accents and large installations all over town from pavers in the sidewalk to bronze sculptures tucked in flowers to the 50-foot Ringfall sculpture on Timberline Drive.

PIANOS ABOUT TOWN Share music and local art around one of the colorful pianos at 20 locations in summer and six in winter. Fifty-seven artists have painted more than 100 donated pianos since the start of the collaboration in 2010.

FIRST FRIDAY ART WALK
