Description | The degradation of a neighborhood gives architecture a space to rethink on new solutions or to bring the existing solution into a better version. The Schlaun student competition asked for answers for a neighborhood located in D端sseldorf, Germany. My thesis project sets a vision for the buildings, the neighborhood, the city and even on a global scale, towards a sustainable way of life. It is focused on reducing the future ecological footprint, promoting a local economy, making precise interventions only where it is needed, transforming and reusing existing structures, and enhancing social interactions.

Description | The project is designed under a park and plaza located in an area with strong cultural and commercial influences in Mexico City Center. To avoid damaging the existing vegetation, the structure is built underneath the existing pathways with a containment system of metal sheet piling that gives access to the central part of the project. The outcome resembles a large crack that allows light to infiltrate the different spaces of the mixed cultural and commercial development.

Site plan The proposal connects the plaza and the park regenerating the public space in the high density mixed-use neighborhood.
