Is MFI a Registered Training Organisation? No for the following reasons. MFI has done its research and is uncompromisingly dedicated to ensure its courses meet fashion industry requirements and maximise employment opportunities for its students, therefore we have designed our own unique courses. MFI has identified that critical employment factors are the practical skills and the quality portfolio graduates can present to potential employers, not a piece of paper representing a qualification designed by a committee. MFI trainers (who are all successful industry practitioners) have applauded our stand and are looking forward to us being able to present relevant and up-to-date training to our students.

Conditions Enrolment procedures and prerequisites Applicants are accepted for enrolment on the basis that they have completed Year 12. No portfolio is required. Applicants will need to present their academic results and may, under certain circumstances, be required to undertake Language, Literacy and numeracy assessment at an interview at the Institute. All interviews are by appointment only. Upon meeting these prerequisites applicants can enrol for the course of their choosing, assuming there are available places. Please note the maximum class size for most practical courses is 16 students (see course information). The Enrolment Contract must be completed in person at the Institute. Once all forms have been completed and the initial instalment paid, the applicant’s position in the course is guaranteed from that date forward. The initial instalment (see Table of Fees) is expected to be paid on the day of enrolment. Interstate applicants will need to be interviewed by phone and then fax, email or post relevant documentation before being accepted for enrolment. Applicants who are over 18 years of age who have another person paying part of, or the entire course fee, on their behalf, should have this person attend the enrolment appointment and sign as the guarantor.
Refund policy In the event the Institute cancels a course, without the providing an alternative class, the Institute agrees to refund all fees paid for that course, 28 days from the date of cancellation. In the event a course is commenced and at some later date cancelled without the Institute providing an alternative class, the Institute agrees to refund all fees paid for that course less the fees to be paid for the classes held up to the date of cancellation. The amount paid for classes held is calculated on a pro-rata basis in accordance with the class timetable. If a refund applies in this circumstance, the refund would be paid 28 days from the date of cancellation. In the event a course’s commencement is delayed by more than four weeks, without an alternative class being available, the student has the option of withdrawing from the course and obtaining a refund of all fees paid for that course. In this circumstance the student would need to notify the Institute in writing of their decision to withdraw from the course within three weeks of the original commencement date. In the event a student is accepted for enrolment but the Institute subsequently cancels the enrolment, the student would receive a refund of all fees paid for that course, 28 days from the date of cancellation. In all other circumstances no refund applies.
Access and equity As noted in the enrolment procedures, in certain circumstances applicants will be required to undergo assessment for language, literacy and numeracy. The Institute does not, however, provide tuition to address any difficulties in these areas but will refer students to appropriate assistance where relevant. Information regarding assistance can be obtained by contacting the administration office. Students who have a physical disability that is hampering their studies should contact the administration office for assistance. Wheelchair access can be organised by prior arrangement. Equal opportunity The Institute does not tolerate behaviour from students or staff that contravenes the legislation pertaining to sex discrimination, sexual harassment, racial vilification or bullying. Copies of the Legislation and details of the Institute’s policy and procedures for dealing with such matters are available from the administration office. Privacy and confidentiality policy All student information kept on file or archived by the Institute is kept strictly confidential and will not be communicated to any other person or organisation without the written consent of the student, except where it is necessary for the staff of the Institute to have access to this information in the performance of administrative functions, to conduct internal audits, to conduct statistical analysis and to perform functions enabling the Institute to comply with applicable legislation and regulation.
Client services The Institute has several staff designated to assist students with study problems, appeals, complaints, grievances, counselling, accommodation and private tuition arrangements. Students should contact the administration office if help is required in any of these areas. Deferrals of study The Institute grants deferrals of study entirely at its own discretion and will only consider a request for a deferral based on documented medical, compassionate or other exceptional grounds. Information regarding deferral applications and procedures is provided during the interview process and in the Student Handbook and Induction Guide issued on enrolment. Fee policy Prior to a student enrolling fees may be altered without notice. Once a student has completed enrolment, fees will not be subject to change for the normal duration of the course. If a course length is extended by the student then any fee increases will be required to be paid for the extended component of the course. Notification policy Students must notify the Institute of changes of address, telephone number, email address and fax number within 7 days of the change. This is required so that students can be contacted and receive important information which may affect their course or their enrolment. Testamur policy Testamurs and transcripts will not be issued to students who are in breach of any part of the Enrolment Contract. Complaints policy The Institute has a complaints and appeals procedure to provide students with a fair and equitable process for resolving any complaints or appeals they may have.
