RANZCR Adelaide 2015
we invite you to be part of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists 66th Annual Scientific Meeting
On behalf of the 2015 Organising Committee we invite you to be part of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) 66th Annual Scientific Meeting to be held 28 October – 1 November 2015 at the newly redeveloped Adelaide Convention Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. The integrated care theme was conceptualised due to the changing role of the radiologist and radiation oncologist in the clinical setting. The traditional view of the radiologist as a specialist who adds value to the health care system solely by generating and interpreting diagnostic images is no longer accurate. The radiologists’ roles have evolved to include economic gate keeping, political advocacy, public health delivery, patient safety, quality of care improvement and information technology. Likewise the role of the radiation oncologist requires an ever expanding range of skills in order to provide patients with optimal multidisciplinary care. The responsible use of new technologies, integration of increasingly complex diagnostic information and the emergence of personalised care continue to challenge radiation oncology practice. Growing reliance on image-guided radiation therapy techniques will continue to solidify the relationship between the disciplines of radiology and radiation oncology. It is with this mindset that the RANZCR 2015 ASM Organising Committee has based its scientific program.

Integrated Care Leading the way in clinical practice
The plenary sessions will consist of a panel incorporating the radiologists, radiation oncologists and other relevant specialists including surgeons to highlight the integral role of our fields in the diagnostic pathway and management algorithm of patients. The radiology scientific program will be enticing for delegates due to the high profile keynote speakers who will be presenting at the meeting. There are six international speakers in the Radiology discipline including the renowned Professor of Neuroradiology Dr Ann Osborn from Utah. Professor Elizabeth Morris is well known amongst breast radiologists in Australia and New Zealand and is highly respected in her field of expertise. Professor Paul Chang will be presenting the first interactive diagnostic live sessions in Australia under the auspices of RSNA. This will be the first time for the sessions to be run outside of North America. Professor Mini Pathria a Musculoskeletal Radiologist is very well regarded as are Professor Paula Woodward and Associate Professor Steve Trenkner who have interests in pelvic and abdominal imaging. There are a number of workshops that are expected to attract delegates including the well proven BREAST Test Set workshops. International Radiation Oncology speakers include Professor Jay Loeffler (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, USA) who brings a wealth of experience from one of the world’s premier proton therapy facilities.
Professor Loeffler’s clinical expertise focuses on benign and malignant intra-cranial lesions in both adult and paediatric patients. Professor Laura Dawson (Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada) is well known for her work using stereotactic ablative body radiotherapy (SABR) to treat upper gastrointestinal malignancies, including liver lesions. She also has considerable expertise in image guided-radiotherapy (IGRT) techniques, normal tissue toxicity modelling, and management of head-and-neck malignancies. Together, these world-leading experts will no doubt stimulate vigorous discussion about the application of precision radiotherapy techniques in local practice. Hands-on workshops, including an anticipated FALCON breast contouring session, will also provide opportunities for participants to interact with local and international experts to develop practical skills. The Adelaide Convention Centre has been selected as the venue for the ASM. Located on North Terrace, the gracious cultural and educational boulevard steeped in architectural history, the Centre is surrounded by a range of hotels as well as restaurants, theatres, shops and gardens. The ASM will take place in the newest Convention Centre building, making full use of the world class facilities Adelaide has to offer. It affords a view of the architecturally interesting SAHMRI building and of the newly redeveloped Adelaide Oval.

RANZCR 2015 ASM will attract a broad and diverse range of health care professionals from around the world and we anticipate attendance in excess of 1,000 delegates due to the calibre of the speakers and the program. By participating as a sponsor or exhibitor your company, people and products can gain excellent exposure. The meeting program has been tailored to provide ample opportunities for delegates to network as well as visit the exhibition to explore and discuss your latest products and services. We anticipate a sold out exhibition and suggest early engagement to maximise the return on your investment. We look forward to welcoming you to RANZCR 2015 ASM and working with you to ensure a mutually rewarding experience.
