Now in it’s sixth year, FaB returns this May to celebrate visual arts in the southwest and beyond. This year is to be our biggest outing yet with more than 30 exhibitions and events showcasing over 130 artists. FaB 2013 is set across six central Bath venues all in easy walking distance. Our HQ FaB1 returns to Stall Street, we are new to York Street, Walcot Chapel houses us again with ‘Blood Lines’, and we are exhibiting in Little Southgate for the first time. Do pick up one of our glossy maps to ensure you don’t miss a thing. We are very excited to bring you a new focus on performance art with themed weekends: 24th to 26th May and 1st to 2nd June. Make sure you don’t miss our fantastic curated program at 44AD Artspace. 1st to 9th June with events and changes daily, both daytime and evening: 24h flash exhibitions by our own curators and invited artists, film screenings including mesmerising documentary ‘Never Sorry’ by Ai WeiWei, China’s most controversial artist and political activist, the Big Art Quiz and open studios, what more could you ask for?! The FaB Open is a competition thought up by us, inviting submissions from artists working in any discipline. Selected entries will be shown as part of an exciting and diverse curated exhibition; YOU
are invited to cast your vote and help choose the winner. This year we are supporting the launch of a new magazine ‘Show and Tell’ whose team join the official judges of the prize. We invite you to join us for a Late Night Arty Party including performance events on FaB 2013’s opening night, Friday 24th May from 6.30pm at all or one of our venues. The Second Element - Felicity Roma Bowers An installation of light and water, celebrating the waters of Bath, from the springs to the river. Project Obscurity
In this, its third year, the FaB Open competition is supported by the new visual arts magazine, Show and Tell.
The Will’s Monument will be draped in fabric from dawn to dusk before being returned to its original state. The installation plays on the the use of a collective memory and will provide the spectator with means of visual emancipation. Bath Photowalk Exhibition A group exhibition by Bath Photowalk in and around the City of Bath. Images of Research – Research Matters This flash exhibition contains over 30 images of real-life research undertaken at the University of Bath. Grey and Dismal Green Depression started as a young child. Memories of gloomy places that always seemed to be painted in grey, cream and a dismal colour of green inspired images that explore mental health issues experienced by the artist and those around. Peter Hayes Open Studio An opportunity to enter into the world of internationally renowned artist Peter Hayes. His working studio/gallery is a three storey building on the banks of the River Avon, where Peter makes and exhibits ceramics and sculpture for indoors and out. On display will be a new body of work influenced by his recent trips to India, Australia and New Zealand.

Artist Film and Q&A Fairfield House is a sound portrait with drawings, depicting a place where many different groups meet. It is a day centre for Bath Ethnic Minority Senior Citizens (BEMSCA) and the Town’s Women’s Guild. The house itself is where Haile Selassie lived during his exile from Ethiopia so it also holds great significance for both Rastafarians and Ethiopians. The sound portrait / film follows a day at the house combined with events in the lives of the immigrant community.

Blood: a symbol of moral order pulsating within us all; a metaphor for what is both pure and tainted; a substance both holy and familiar.
