“Ma la città non dice il suo passato, lo contiene come le linee d'una mano, scritto negli spigoli delle vie, nelle griglie delle finestre, negli scorrimano delle scale, nelle antenne dei parafulmini, nelle aste delle bandiere, ogni segmento rigato a sua volta di graffi, seghettature, intagli, svirgole.” Italo calvino Le città invisibili 1972

SOIL SOIL Masterplan project wants to build a sistem, a courtyard in which the ground floor has a special role. Concept design work on common groud, in which public functions are located on the ground floor, such as commercial spaces, coworking and activities that have a strong social value such as kindergarten. Thanks to this different in height the public space of the street is separate from the semi-private or semi-public spaces inside inner courtyard. Building is realized using an innovative sustainable material: CLT cross laminated timber, that is recyclable, eco-friendly and fire proof. This structure is readymade, and that reduce building site costs. Facades have a transformable structure well adapted to russian climate. Translucent polycarbonate panels can be fenced in bad weather and opened when it is dry and warm to get extra light and fresh air

Porta Sud Urban Shades Urban regeneration of an uninhabited place Sesto San Giovani, Milano architecture competition Rotary international 2016 7th place

Porta Sud Urban Shades works on the desire to configure itself as a threshold element and a new gateway to the city. The idea is a regeneration project of a specific site, working on a local scale, on a fragment, can generate a process of urban regeneration on a larger scale. A system of actions that will reconstruct the urban complexity characterized by the inclusion of a functional and spatial mixitè able to create multiple relationships. It assumes the current critical conditions as for the valorisation and regeneration of the place, considering fundamental the definition of a new spatiality and a new system capable of reinterpreting today, in the contemporary world that identity linked to the evocative force of the places characterized in the past by the present of the industry. 21 |

Urban courtyard New library in Parco Calipari Castel Maggiore architecture competition 2017

Project for the new library proposes the construction of an highly representative and identifying building, a new reference for local community: a collector capable of setting up a plurality of activities, cultural, social and civil. The purpose is to build an empty space able to create continuous relationships with its own borders and with the different activities it hosts. The relationship between edge and cavity makes the public space, the central place of exchange and mediation device between different spaces. Public soil represents the spatial processing tool through which these relationships take shape. It becomes central in the elaboration of the project proposal, the reflection about the social role of the library in the contemporary world; it is not exclusively a place for lending and preserving volumes but is a dynamic place for social aggregation. 25 |

SOIL

On the shore of the lake project imagine a new sport city, a building system, for a pluality of sports. A boundary redefine relationship in between inside and outside, redefine relations with landscape around, that becomes part of design. Design defines an edge and so a cavity, in which space takes shape, with physical and visual relationship between spaces. Swimming sport center is a city for sport with residences for athletes, outdoor and indoor swimming center and training gym, moreover a square, a hub, for outdoor sporting events. 31 |

Suspended landscapes Project regeneration of inhabitat spaces of Poveglia island Poveglia island, Venice master thesis 2017

Poveglia island is a suspended landscape, between ground and water, past and future, it is a proposal of regeneration of this land, started from its richness of traces and stratificazions. It works between past and future in order to give, again identity to island, the proposal is to reuse existing buildings, with critical selection and grafting intervention, in order to redefine a new spatiality, and a ner relation with landscape. Concept is to define courts, improving a relation between cavity and limit. Art has a central role in Venice, the proposal is to tranform Poveglia in an island for arts, in particular for contemporary arts, a place for exhibitions and study for young artists. Project want to restore network with Venice and with all lagoon, art can became the instrument for the regeneration. 37 |

Back Home Shards of memories Syria International competition ‘Syria: Post-War Housing‘ 2016 3rd place Project imagine a post war scenario it works with the idea to retrace shape of urban’s lot, that were destroyed from war, in order to conserve city’s identity and its morphology. New buildings are assembled parlty with ruins, partly with new materials and they play the role of traditional syrian house organized around a courtyard. The idea is to realize two different type of courts: the shape of the urban lot is sorrounded with small and private courts, this system composes a single larger public courtyard; which can accommodate different functions such as public or historical buildings, public gardens, mosques or attraction poles. A wider urban network connects all these public spaces resulting in a new city’s identity and idea. Every building has a ground floor with commercial and public spaces in order to have a direct relationship with the courtyard; housing is developed on the higher floors. Single residential units are flexible houses with 25 mq of immediate living rooms and 20 to 50 mq of potential a dynamical space, that allows the owner to change the unit configuration in relation with own needs. 49 |

Mira d’Or Hercolaneum Restauration school for the acient city Ercolano architecture competition ‘#Hercolaneumcall‘ 2018 2nd place

“Mirad’Or” is the missing piece inside the system of the Golden Mile, inHerculaneum to Torre del Greco; on it there are splendid eighteenth-century villas with panoramic viewpoints towards the sea. An urban void and space without identity, but with a privileged relationship with the sea, the archaeological excavations and the dense urban landscape. Ercolano, a saturated, stratified city, shows a lack of open spaces in the city. Its historical evolution has allowed these open spaces, once exclusive to the villas, to become places open to the city. In this scenario the whole project is grafted, which aims to highlight this unique place. It works by doubling the ground: through an excavation two public open spaces with different characteristics are configured, which allow citizens to reclaim a fragment of their city. 53 |

Inverted soil SOIL

London Public Library PL/PS:Public Library/Public Space London design studio a.a. 2015-2016 teachers: Prof.ssa Maria Grazia Guya Bertelli Prof. Juan Carlos Dall’Asta Prof. Dario Vanetti

Inverted soil reads plurality of London’s identity, there is indeed a complementary city, in the underground, characterized by roads, tunnels, secret passages and galleries.Project redefines this complexity, with a plurality of soils, different layers, with relations between ground and undergrond, indoor and outdoor, nature and artifice. It redefines waterfront such as a continuous public space, and define new relations with river. London Public Library is an opportunity to rethink the role of the library in contemporaneity, a complex place capable of accommodating a variety of activities in relation to the changing needs of the community, by making dialogue with the traditional library with the New technology systems. The ever-established library of relationships, with a civil role within the city, itself represents a public space, the relationship between interior and exterior becomes central. 57 |

Stratifications Archeological Museum in Milan ridefine Via Brisa urban void Milan design studio teachers: Prof. Massimiliano Roca Prof.ssa Maddalena D’Alfonso

Project for new Archeological Museum in Milan attempts to return identity to the urban void of Via Brisa, a shards multilayered part of the city. A place, rich of stratications, that preserves the ruins of the Roman era, brought to light following the bombings of 1945. The project works with the plurality of stratifications, that characterize the site, it connects new and ancient, redefines the border through peremptory signs, giving new identity to an heterogeneous fragmentary systems. Gorani tower, the only surviving element of a Eighteenth century palace, Roman ruins and the contemporary city represent the historical memory of site. 61 |
