ABSENCE MANAGEMENT Department for Work and Pensions1 figures for 2014 show that employers face a yearly bill of around £9 billion for sick pay and associated costs. However, the greater cost of absence from work can be the loss of productivity, effectiveness and morale which not only affects the individual concerned but also an organisation’s ability to deliver its contracts, impacting on income and reputation.
