Getting started with building a gym at home can be intimidating, especially if you need help guring out where to start. But, by taking it step-by-step, it can be done for less than you think.

Here are ve easy steps that will help you get started. It’s important to keep in mind that these can take place gradually.

Find the Space

The more room you have, the better, and the rst step is to locate a space that will allow you to work out. This can be anywhere in the house, including the basement or garage. One important thing to remember is that you only use this area for this purpose, which can be quickly lled with storage.

If you have diculty nding a space that ts your needs, try clearing a space that measures 4 x 8 feet, allowing you to start doing hundreds of exercises. As you get bigger, make sure

that you maintain as much open space as possible.

Get Your First Piece of Equipment

The rst piece of equipment they should get is a barbell for most people. However, you should also add various accessories, such as plates and bumps. These will allow you to complete hundreds of exercises.

If you are looking for cheap and used gym equipment, you can nd various options on Craigslist or other similar sites. As more companies start producing these types of equipment, the prices of these items will continue to go down.

Add Some Flooring

Although traditional gym ooring costs are expensive, other alternatives can be used. One of these is horse stall mats, which are made from a material that will provide you with a safe and comfortable oor. They can also help reduce a barbell’s noise when it hits the ground.

When I rst started building a gym at home, I waited too long to install the ooring. It has since become one of the most important factors I consider when building a gym. Having the proper ooring will allow you to perform various exercises on the oor.

Find More Equipment

One of the most important pieces of equipment that you should get is a squat rack, which will allow you to add a new element to your home gym.

You can also add a variety of other equipment to your home gym, such as a pull-up bar or cardio equipment. These can be purchased from used marketplaces.
