Favorite Building

This building represents purpose and utility in a changing environment.

This project allowed me to use familiar environments and structures as case studies.

The shape was large and very simple making it easy to model.

With no hard measurements, using other sources was risky!

With such a simplistic shape and design, creating details was a challenge.

Two Point Perspective of Favorite Building

Tiny House Group Project

Building as a “Team Purple, we collaborated and compromised while working with limited physical space. w We were exposed to new ideas and allowed our ideas to be evaluated by the team.

The final floor plan for “Team Purple”.

We would later take this group plan and use it to create our individual “Tiny Homes”.

In Class Projects Narrative: In class skill building Strengths: Basic drawing skills Weaknesses: Unfamiliarity with computer drawing Opportunities: Learn about drawing software Risks: Producing underwhelming results

Tiny House Project The goal of this project was to create spaciousness within the limited confines of a “tiny house. Something I found I was good at was moving forward with ideas and allowing the process to guide the project. One of the difficulties in designing this space was to stay focused on the larger picture and resisting getting caught up in the smaller details. This project gave me the opportunity to explore my own personal aesthetics. One of the risks i took on during this project was working within material constraints. I wanted this project to be accessible and within a DIY framework.

Plan and Elevations

Folding and retractable staircase Modeled after exterior fire escapes, this staircase was designed to maximize floor space as well as provide a portal between the first and second floors.

The Stairway Skylight

This skylight fixture was designed to provide ample clearance while using the staircase.

In addition to its functionality, the skylight is designed to further beautify the interior by blending it with the spaciousness of the exterior surroundings.

The Skylight Roof Design Working with shapes other than simple rectangles at right angles was a challenge for my burgeoning Sketchup skills.

After a number of iterations and failed processes, I was able to create skylight window views for the bedroom that I envisioned in my initial sketches.

The roof is designed to be an aesthetically pleasing, classic pitch design.

Sitting atop high walls, the view of the sky is meant to compliment the spaciousness created by the ample headroom.
