This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of Health Care Practitioners involved in the care of patients with Aesthetic requests.

Description:

The Cosmetic Laser Training Course & Certification workshop is a combination lecture and workshop where learners will participate in didactic lectures in the morning followed by hands-on training in the afternoon. Learners will understand how to perform laser light energy treatments for various cosmetic indications and will also gain proficiency in the science and alternative uses for laser light energies. The purpose of the training is to help learners provide enhanced patient care to those who present themselves with various cosmetic conditions and for learners to acquire the necessary technical skills to perform each of these cosmetic laser procedures correctly and by adhering to published protocols and guidelines.

Educational Objectives:

• Practice procedures such as aesthetic non-ablative and laser ablative procedures competently, safely, and effectively for their patient. Each participant will understand and learn how to avoid risks and associated complications.

• Apply the generally accepted protocols for the administration of laser procedures for various aesthetic and medical conditions (i.e. acne). Learn the proper guidelines for the acquisition, patient charting, administration issues (i.e. medical intake forms, informed consents) and the corrective measures for adverse events.

• Describe the mechanism of action and basic facial anatomy of the skin including epidermal, dermal, and subcutaneous tissues, describe differences between the array of aesthetic device technologies available, FDA Approved Applications, characteristics of the devices, patient preferences, and managing expectations.

• Identify who is a candidate for aesthetic laser procedures, patient benefits, and long-term correction for the various aesthetic conditions that aesthetic lasers can provide. Increase patient awareness and offer enhanced patient care in relation to the laser light energy procedures.
