Conference Summary New Perspectives in Obesity is organized by Dietitian Central. Live Event Date: Nov 29, 2018 Expiration Date: Nov 28, 2021 Credits: 1.0 Description: In your career as a dietitian, you have more than likely had experience with patients who are clinically overweight or obese. The CDC estimates that in the year 2016, the prevalence of obesity was 39.8% and affected about 93.3 million of U.S. adults. Every day you hear about the latest diet trends and the latest research on what may be causing obesity: is it sugar intake, is it lack of exercise, is it lack of patient knowledge? For the past few decades we have been told that obesity is really about consuming less energy and expending more energy but what if obesity was more than just counting calories? In this 1 hour webinar, we will discuss some of the most recent research in the world of obesity including the metabolic adaptations that accompany obesity, recent developments in the biology of obesity, obesity as a disease, the effects of alcohol on obesity, pro-metabolic diet and the true impact exercise has on our weight. Learning Objectives: Upon successful completion of this one-hour course, the participant should be able to: • Be able to understand and discuss the biology of obesity and use this to help patients better understand their disease.
