Program Notes: Are you actually listening? Sometimes people judge just on appearance! Sometimes people judge music without even listening to it! Sometimes people judge arguments without listening to both sides! This piece is dedicated to anyone who has ever fallen victim to this kind of judgment! Instrumentation: Flute Alto saxophone Marimba Electric bass Piano Drum set Performance Notes: Everyone performs using the score! X"s in the music indicate that the performers may play whatever note they desire as long as they can accurately play the notated rhythm! Whenever the chord is notated in the score# the flute# alto saxophone# marimba# and electric bass must play their assigned members of the chord! Performers may play their pitch in whatever octave they desire! A diagram is provided at the top of the score with pitch assignments! Note: the score is in concert pitch! The pianist may voice the chord in any way that he or she pleases! During the $%& sections the bass player and pianist will play the descending bass line! The marimba player must roll any note that"s duration is a half note or more! The drummer must keep time and play all hits!
REHEARSAL B At Rehearsal B the entire ensemble will play beats ! and " while each performer will take turns playing the sextuplet on beat #$ Once every player has played the sextuplet% the ensemble will then use the same order and layer each player performing the sextuplet in an additive manner$ This process is described in detail in Diagram !$ Diagram ! &Explanation of Rehearsal B'
