FITNESS RITUAL

THE 360 DONKEY

Upcycled Tables Project Brief

I had 4 weeks to design and construct a product out of waste material. My outcome was designed for an upcycling online company called remadeinbritain.com, where designers are able to directly market their upcycled designs.

The side table on the left is made from a wide variety of scrap wood found lying around in the workshop. I decided to make this table quite narrow so that I would only be using scrap wood that would be useless to most students in the workshop.

To the right are sketches that could be constructed from bits of scrap wood. The idea originated from a designer called Rupert Herring who compiled old table legs and balustrades to create a beautiful coffee table.

The Vortex-X2 Project Brief

I had 3 weeks to design a product that embraces emerging technology, the way that we interact with these products and how we lead our lives. I had to choose a brand to design for and therefore the product must reflect my chosen brand.

The Vortex-X2 revolutionises the way people train. With a built-in protein powder dispenser, you can fuel your workouts with multiple protein shakes on the go.

Features: 12 hour battery charge

Touch sensitive power on/off and dispenser buttons

LED lights on both on/off and dispenser button Rechargeable base

Brushed silver steel frame

16000rpm li-ion usb charge Minimal blending sound

Comes in both 250ml and 450ml

Superior quality, impact & odor-resistant materials 100% leak-proof guarantee and 1-year manufacturer’s warranty

To the right are a selection of sketches where I explored different shapes the protein shake bottle could be, considering the ergonomics needed to fit the palm of a hand. To the left is my final developed idea, inspired by the electric BMW I8.

Fitness Ritual Project Brief

Produce three objects which portray a personal narrative and ritual, one of which has to be made from a casting process and one made from timber.

These parallettes are designed for my daily fitness routine, which consists of a series of static holds and bodyweight movements. These portable fitness bars made from ash wood are designed to be deconstructed and stored in the bag, making them easily transportable.

These personalised parallettes are designed with detachable silicone buffers, shown in the image on the left. They are designed to increase friction, making the paralettes more sturdy.

The 360 Donkey Project Brief

In this 7 week project I had to produce a high quality CNC routed donkey that is made from strictly plywood and/or aeroply and MDF. The design must be a free standing storage form that is representative of the original Isokon penguin donkey and is suitable for current lifestyles.

The 360 donkey is made from 9mm birch plywood, which has been cut out using a CNC router and assembled with biscuit joints.

The 360 donkey is designed as a functional storage solution for a living room, featuring 4 storage compartments suitable for video games, DVD’s and small books. It also has 4 compartments for drinks and other thinner objects you might find in a living room.
