coaching staff RYAN CHIPKA | Head Coach | 2nd Season
Coach Chipka enters his second season as skipper of the Warriors baseball team. In his first season, Chipka led the Warriors to an 11-game win improvement from the 2013 season and also led the team to the USCAA Small College World Series. The Warriors won 10 out of their last 12 games to qualify for the world series for the third time in four years. Chipka received his first win of his collegiate coaching career in a 7-3 victory over Penn State-Brandywine in Vero Beach, Fla. In the very next game RC defeated Davenport University, who was receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll, in extra innings, 7-3. Chipka oversaw the Warriors offense, which consisted of A.I.I. second team all-conference centerfielder Kevin Moore, honorable mention all-conference freshman designated hitter Blake German, and USCAA honorable mention All-American sophomore outfielder Dominic Raona. Junior closer Scott Kunert was named an honorable mention A.I.I. All-Conference and USCAA All-American performer on the mound. The 2014 season saw many highlights off the field as well as RC was named an NAIA Scholar Team. The Warriors had a cumulative grade-point-average of a 3.20 amongst it’s 34 players, which was the 15th highest in the country. RC totaled six NAIA scholar-athletes and eight USCAA Academic All-Americans. Both marks are RC baseball program highs. In the summer of 2014 Chipka was selected as the inaugural USCAA baseball coaches committee chairperson. Coach Chipka also serves on the NAIA rules committee and is an active member of the American Baseball Coaches Association. Chipka joined the coaching ranks after a stellar career as a player at Rochester College. He was the only four-year captain in the history of the Rochester College baseball program. He was also spectacular in the classroom as he was named a three-year academic all-american. As a player Chipka helped lead the Rochester College baseball program to back-to-back USCAA Small College World Series appearances, including a third place finish in 2012. In his senior season, he notched first team all-american honors as the Warrior's shortstop. Chipka also holds RC records as the all time hits, assists, and consecutive starts leader. Before college, Chipka graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, OH where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He received post-season accolades in all three sports. Before taking over the Warriors baseball program, Chipka’s coaching experiences included Armada Middle School football, Rochester High School football, Lake Orion High School football, Stoney Creek High School basketball, and Oakland Bulldogs baseball. Ryan works part-time as a baseball instructor at the Varsity Shop Training Center and as an associate scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Athletic Director Klint Pleasant on Ryan: "I'm excited to watch Coach Chipka's coaching career unfold. I have been impressed with his energy, work ethic and positive attitude. Most importantly, he was a very good student during his time at RC as an undergraduate and understands our schools mission. I'm grateful he's a part of our staff and look forward to watching him lead our baseball program."
