Glass Animals ‘Live In The Internet’ Live Show To Be Broadcast On October 15th

By Sheena Johnson As we reported before in Rock And Blues International, acts are getting more creative in bringing their shows to the public. The same goes for Glass Animals. The band has just released their new album Dreamland. Dreamland is the third album release from this great U.K. band and last month we told you all about it. Their first single off the album is “Your Love (Déjà vu), which the band premiered in February of this year, and has met with critical acclaim. Unfortunately for the band, tour dates have been cancelled, and even their show at the prestigious Red Rocks Amphitheater in the America had to be cancelled as well. The band is looking forward to touring next year and has shared some proposed dates for a U.K. and European tour, but quite frankly, even that is still up in the air. Who knows what this “new normal” is going to bring. Will they even be able to tour next year? We can keep our fingers crossed and hope so, but only time will tell. In the meantime, the band has reached a decision to perform live regardless. They honestly feel that they haven’t been able to share Dreamland with the world and their fans properly. The solution for that is to perform “Live On The Internet”. Yes, it seems to be the “thing” to do and Glass Animals are the next ones to take advantage of the situation. But think of the possibilities… with one performance they might be able to reach the largest audience that they have ever performed for at one time. The band have announced that they are “reimagining their globally renowned live show to create a one-time only virtual gig/experience” which will take place this month on October 15 th . The show will be their wildest undertaking yet and will not only feature a full band performance, but it will also include a few guests in what they tell us will be a creative fan interaction. I’m not quite sure what that entails, but I’m sure it will be spectacular. Dave Bayley, frontman for the band tells us, “I think 90 percent of a live concert’s atmosphere comes from the crowd. It’s about that togetherness and everyone getting on the same level and everyone in the room being part of the same thing. It’s impossible to create that same feeling on the Internet. That’s why people still go to sports matches instead of just watching them on the TV. “That atmosphere doesn’t exist on the Internet, BUT…the Internet is good for interacting in a different way. It’s the most powerful thing in the world. You can do things on the Internet that you can’t do in real life. It is a new type of performance space. Just like you would perform and interact differently in a tiny club, to how you’d perform in a stadium…you have to interact differently on the web.” ”Gaming and social media have pioneered the way people do this and how people enjoy the Internet. I think there’s a way to pull some of that cleverness into a streamed music event. So, we’re going to try to do something with that in mind, instead of just performing live to a totally empty room. We did that like every day on our first tour when we started the band, and it’s really not so fun!” “Live On The Internet” will be the band’s first real worldwide concert appearance since Dreamland entered the U.K. charts at #2, just behind American singer Taylor Swift, becoming their highest charting album yet. In the U.S. Dreamland entered the Billboard Charts in the Top Ten making it the highest charting album for a British Alternative Band since The 1975. The band is simply just chomping at the bit to get out there and perform for this great International audience, and making their dreams come true for presenting Dreamland to their fans in a very big way. Be sure to tune into this special broadcast this month on October 15 th . It should be a lot of fun.
