Project: Glass design element for the fireplace at the Estonian Embassy, October 2010.
Location: The Hague (Netherlands).
Site: Noble 19th century mansion, great room, classic style fireplace.
Client: private commission.
The original painted panel, which was integrated into the wooden frame of the classic style fireplace in the Estonian Embassy, disappeared when the building was purchased. The replacement was designed and produced by Studio Raus. It consists of two superimposed maps: a chart of modern Saaremaa and a 15th-century map depicting the Island of Thule. The maps are silk-screen prints and are transparent enough to reveal the cracks in the wall, which constitute an abstract map. Saaremaa has been considered a possible location of the island of Thule, described by the Greek geographer Pytheas. Lennart Meri has written a book detailing his research on the island of Saaremaa and Thule. His book, entitled H천bevalge (Silver White), rests on the fireplace support.

The seven glass panels designed for this functionalist style building blend with its original art deco spirit. Handcrafted glass medallions decorated with letters are integrated into the large glass panels. These letters form the names of women, alluding to dedications of the light music that was characteristic of the 1930s and 1940s, as well as the original name of the building, EVE.

In 2011, Studio Raus designed and implemented a project for fitting out and renovating the reception areas of the School of Visual Communication (applied graphics and design school) in four different cities. The project was aimed at updating each space while improving their functionality. The design for each branch of the ECV is unique, but is created in a recognizable style and with a similar use of materials. The furniture was made to the specifications of the author using a combination of Bencore panels and natural wood. Glamox lighting solutions were retained in all the schools.
