Bridal Shows
Bridal shows are a very exciting and fun part of the wedding planning process! There are just a few need-to-know things to get you started and make sure you are totally prepared! The first thing to do is purchase your ticket. Buying ahead of time will ensure that you are able to get a ticket to the show. Pre-ordering may also give you the benefit of a discount on your ticket, and you won’t have to wait in line at the show. Instead, you can get straight to the fun! In preparation for the bridal show, there are some things you can do to get ready and make sure you are going to get the most out of it as possible. Before you leave the house, make sure that you are wearing something comfortable. Depending on where the show is located, and its size, you are probably going to be doing a lot of walking and standing during the day. You also are going to want to bring someone with you. There is going to be so much going on you will want another set of eyes and someone that can help you figure out your ideas. The last things you will want to bring with you are the necessary items to collect the most information. You will want to bring a decent

sized bag to make sure you have room for all of the pamphlets and papers you will obtain during your time. In that bag you are going to want to have a pen, paper and your planner. That way you can keep all of your information organized and write down any appointment times you sign up for or dates of future appointments you want to remember. Also a time saver would be to have vendor information address labels in your bag. You will be signing up for so much you can save time, and make sure your information is legible. Add any information you feel necessary such as your address, email, and possibly phone number. Money would be a great thing to bring, if you find something that you like at the show you may be able to purchase it that day, such as your jewelry. Make sure you have cash and cards; everybody is different with what payment preference they have. The last piece of advice would be to make sure that you have pictures or samples of what you want or already have purchased with you. By doing that you can make sure you are picking out things that match your theme and any dresses or attire you may have already purchased. One very important tip would be to set up an email address, and even possibly a P.O. Box for yourself during the time period you are planning your wedding. Throughout the show you are going to sign up for a lot of marketing information and giveaways. All of these vendors are going to be interested in your business. Many people don't want their personal email to be overflowing or their mailbox to be constantly packed. Doing these two little things are going to simplify your life. As soon as the wedding is over you can cancel the P.O. Box, email and the information will stop coming to you. Don’t be afraid to spend time at the vendor booths and ask plenty of questions. The purposes of the show for you is to gain answers and ideas, and that is what the vendors are there for. Make sure you know who you’re talking to, that way you can call that vendor later and continue with the same person if they are in charge of the service provided. Don’t be afraid to take notes and pictures, you want to remember what you saw. You’re going to see a lot, so be prepared for a fun and busy day!

and a checklist. Make sure that you stay on track and remember dates are going to be crucial to accomplish everything on time. Some ideas to label these sections could be: present wish lists, vendor information, florists, dress shop, and bridal party information. Figuring out your budget is going to be one of the most important things to do when you are planning your wedding. Knowing how much you and your significant other can spend and are able to spend is going to tell you what you can and cannot purchase. When making your budget take into account that your bills and other financial obligations are still going to be there during this whole process.
The Bride's Family • The engagement party, engagement announcements and wedding invitations • All planning expenses, including a wedding consultant When planning your wedding it is important to stay organized and on budget to ensure that everything goes according to plan. After you are engaged, you and your fiancé are going to need to sit down and figure things out, such as dates and a budget. This might not be the most exciting step in the process, but it is one of the most important. The first thing is to create an organizational system for all of your wedding needs. The best thing to do would be to create some sort of wedding notebook. Purchasing a big binder would be an easy way to keep everything in one place. You would then get dividers and label sections off for the different needs you have for planning. Make sure that each section is fully stocked with paper and make sure that you leave room in your binder for a calendar

The Groom's Family • Officiant and marriage license fees • Boutonniéres and corsages for both families • Grooms gift to the bride and his groomsmen • Rehearsal dinner costs • Honeymoon expenses Wedding professionals can make planning your wedding much easier. A wedding planner is going to be there with you every step of the way. They start with an initial consultation and are able to get some information and can build forward on things from there. Wedding planners typically have packages and deals set up, and the package you choose will be the one that specifically matches your wants and needs. Obviously every wedding is different, so the planner will be able to assist you in figuring out how much help you will need and what details will be included in the package for you. The main part in the options they would give you would typically be Full Service or Day of Coordination. The Day of Coordination will be more focused on the wedding day details itself, where as a Full Service planner is going to do a lot more. This type of planner deals with the little details about planning a wedding in addition to the big details. They are there to help with choosing the right venue and helping you create and stick to your budget. Hiring a wedding planner is helpful when you need assistance to stay on track, or if you are planning a wedding in a short period of time. The planner will know what and when you need to do things which will help you to move forward quickly.

When choosing a wedding date you need to keep a few things in mind. The first thing would be to have a few different possibilities for a date. This will allow for flexibility in venues and will help you find the perfect location and day for the right price. Many times Saturday weddings are most desirable. This is a very convenient day because it is in the middle of the weekend and the easiest for those who live out of town to travel. The downside to a Saturday wedding is that it is the most desirable wedding day for a lot of people, which can add to the cost and availability of venues. When booking a venue, you may face the problem that all Saturdays for a while are booked solid. This is when flexibility will come in handy, being open to options for your wedding day will allow for better luck getting the venue you want on the day you want. Friday and Sunday weddings are gaining popularity

against the usual Saturday wedding. When choosing one of these days, venues seem to be more open. Again, having a few dates to choose from will allow you to more easily secure the venue that you want, but it will not likely be as hard to reserve on one of these two days. These days also tend to be cheaper. There is a downside though, with a Friday wedding you must take into consideration that most of your guests work. This means that your wedding may have to be scheduled later at night to accommodate for your in-town guests work schedules. As for your out-of-town guests, they may have to take a day off of work. For this to happen they will need ample notice and there is still not a guarantee that they can get your special day off or get off early enough to make it to the ceremony. Sundays are easier when dealing with work schedules, but harder in the sense that your guests need to return home or return to work after the festivities. This may mean you have to have your wedding earlier in the day so that your guests will be able to attend the reception for a reasonable amount of time. Your guests may not be able to enjoy themselves as much as they would like due to having to work the following day so that is a necessary consideration.

Venues tidbits
Do not fight the decor and color at the ceremony site. Sometimes ceremony sites have unique carpet, pews, wall colors, etc. Try to pick a color scheme that can complement or draw attention away from the offending object. If the ceremony site has a dark orange carpet then choose colors that will complement like pinks, reds, or plums. The carpet will end up being a nice complement to your wedding.
An event to remember
If you are using the site as a house of worship, confirm with the facility that dancing and alcohol is allowed before booking it as a reception site as well.

Reception Traditions
• Will the caterer need to bring portable ovens?
• Receiving Line - The lineup traditionally begins with mother of the bride, mother of groom, father of groom, father of bride, bride, groom, maid or matron of honor, and bridesmaids. The best man, groomsmen, and ushers are not included in the traditional lineup. The receiving line can be time consuming, but it is important for the bride and groom to thank and welcome all of their guests.
• Will the existing wiring support the added usage of electricity for outside lights, heaters and DJ/band equipment?
• Cutting the Cake - The cake is cut after the toasts and the bride and groom cut it together. The bride takes the first bite and then feeds the groom the second bite.
• Are there enough electrical outlets for the caterer and entertainment?
• Toasts - The toasts usually follow the main meal. The best man opens with the toast and introduces the wedding party. Following the best man is the maid of honor, groom toasting his bride and any congratulation messages from the guests.
Outside Facilities • Are the kitchen and bathroom facilities adequate?
trends
• A small area of the reception site is reserved for the photo booth for guests to take fun pictures with different props and costumes. • Choreographed dances are usually performed by the bride and groom and/ or their wedding party to replace the traditional bride/groom and bridal party dances. • Instead of the traditional rice to throw on the bride and groom as they are exiting the ceremony, the guests blow bubbles from little bubble containers.
•20•
rockfordbride.com
• The First Dance - This dance is for the newlyweds and they should receive the undivided attention of everyone. • The Second Dance - This dance is reserved for a bride and her father and the groom and his mother. • Tossing the Bouquet - Traditionally the tossing of the bouquet occurs after the cutting of the cake. All the single women assemble behind the bride and try to catch the bouquet that the bride tosses behind her back. • Tossing the Garter - This follows the bouquet toss and the groom removes the garter from the bride’s leg. The single men and groom get in a similar stance as the bouquet toss and the groom tosses the garter. The bachelor who catches the garter places it on the woman who caught the bouquet.

A Tale of Two Reporters
-
Britten Follett and Nick Winkler, Marengo, IL Britten Follett and Nick Winkler’s long distance love story that ended in a gorgeous, unforgettable wedding began with a simple handshake. She remembers his handshake was too hard, and he remembers the new reporter’s handshake was not quite hard enough. In February of 2005, both Britten and Nick were working as television reporters for KWTV in Oklahoma City. Nick quickly won the new reporter over and they started dating, despite their respective moves to many places including Oregon, Illinois, and Minnesota. Even though they were far apart, their love grew and thrived. To bridge the distance, Britten mailed Nick 365 reasons why he “knocked her socks off,” one for each day of the year. She continued this idea by filling a clothesline with socks in 2009 to remind him that even though they may have their ups and downs, he still knocked her socks off. They dated for nine years before they were finally engaged. Nick decided to incorporate socks into the engagement proposal to continue the theme of knocking Britten’s socks off. He wrapped a pile of black gifts in silver wrapping paper, including 15 pairs of black socks. Britten opened each gift

individually until Nick proposed to her with a one of a kind, black diamond in palladium setting and said “As long as I still knock your socks off, and as long as you’ll let me replenish your socks for the rest of our life...” Of course, Britten accepted his marriage proposal and began planning her beautiful wedding day.
Britten & Nick's Wedding
To document their wedding planning process, the two storytellers created a website to share stories about their wedding plans. You can find their blog at nickandbrit. com. The blog, which was Nick’s idea, gave them an outlet to explain the trials and tribulations of wedding planning and allowed their guests to get to know them both a little better. Nick and Britten will agree their blog was the best part of the wedding planning process. It was an opportunity for Nick and Britten to keep their wedding planning memories stored somewhere forever, involve their guests in the process, and even entertain non-guest readers with their wedding story.
•23•
rockfordbride.com
Britten’s dream for her wedding was for their guests to leave at the end of the night saying it the most unique and memorable weddings they’d ever attended. To ensure their guests felt this way, Britten and Nick did a few things to deviate from traditional weddings. For example, the bride came out first, as a close friend of Britten’s sang the Across the Universe version of “Hold Your Hand”. A violinist recreated the opening of Jason Boland’s “Somewhere Down in Texas” as Britten walked down the aisle. Nick’s favorite red dirt country song played by Britten’s favorite instrument. In addition to scriptures read by Britten’s childhood friends, Nick and Britten’s sisters read love letters the couple had written to each other during their nine-year relationship. During the ceremony, while the vocalist sang Britten’s favorite childhood song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by Jewel, the couple released a flock of wedding doves and planted a “unity” grapevine to grow along the arch where they said
“I do.” Their mother’s signed the marriage certificate and their wedding cake was cut along with Britten’s parents to celebrate their 39th wedding anniversary. Instead of choosing a traditional wedding venue, Britten opted to hold their wedding at her parent’s home that she grew up in on five acres of picturesque land north of Marengo. This location was ideal because Britten wanted to choose a meaningful place to hold her special day. Because the location was a nontraditional venue, there were a few obstacles the couple had to overcome to create their perfect wedding day. They had to figure out how to properly light the area as Britten wanted to hold the entire ceremony outside under the stars. They also had to find a caterer equipped to cater a nontraditional wedding at a nontraditional location. After interviewing half a dozen caterers, Britten chose Hoffman House in Rockford, IL. Britten was confident that they would be able to cater her nontraditional wedding, and could not resist the delicious and memorable filet, chicken, and salmon from which her guests would have to choose. Nick and Britten also incorporated a dessert bar that had many different dessert choices including chocolate chip cookies baked by Nick’s mother. As with most outdoor weddings, Britten and Nick also had to prepare for inclement weather. On the day of their wedding, there was an 80% chance of rain. The couple decided to put up two tents, but in the end the weather was perfect allowing for a gorgeous and unique outdoor wedding. Britten’s second choice for a wedding venue was a vineyard. Instead of booking a vineyard for a wedding and asking all of her guests to travel to her favorite vineyard, she brought her favorite vineyards to her childhood home in Marengo. She incorporated her vineyard theme into various aspects of her wedding including the save the date, invitation, and wedding website. Nick and Britten also asked their wedding guests to sign a cork as their

guest book, and the cocktail tables were decorated with bottles from “La Follette” vineyard. Each guest’s table was decorated with centerpieces that paid homage to Britten’s favorite wineries including Fisher Family Vineyard, Sherwin Family Vineyard, Bogle, and more. Each guest’s place card holder comprised of three corks from Britten’s favorite vineyards, and each place setting had a napkin ring with a cork from her favorite vineyards. Guests drank from monogrammed wine glasses that also served as their wedding favors, and the first pour at dinner came from wine from the vineyard at each table.
Britten & Nick's Wedding
Britten and Nick decided against having a traditional wedding party, to add to their nontraditional wedding plan. Nick did not want groomsmen, and Britten decided to assemble “Team Brit” instead of having a maid of honor and bridesmaids in the traditional sense. Her closest friends were recruited to Team Brit with a custom t-shirt and poem delivered in the mail. Each member of team Brit wore a gray wedding dress of their choice and walked down the aisle during the ceremony to hand Britten a flower to create her bouquet. The television reporter bride, a self proclaimed “fashionista,” was lucky enough to find her dream wedding dress early on. She fell in love with a Vera Wang dress she spotted online before Nick had even proposed. After their engagement, Britten tried on wedding dresses at four different locations but decided that the dress she spotted on the internet in the beginning was the dress for her. The only downside to this dress was the hefty price tag, approaching $9,000. Instead, she decided instead to use the Vera Wang dress as inspiration for her one of a kind, custom wedding gown. Her wedding dress was made in Oklahoma for a fraction of the price of the Vera Wang gown.

Because Britten did much of the work for her wedding herself, she was looking forward to a relaxing honeymoon close to home. The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Sedona and the Grand Canyon, which was considerably closer to home than her original idea of traveling to New Zealand for their honeymoon. They spent their honeymoon hiking, enjoying nature, and spending precious time together.
Britten & Nick's Wedding
Nick and Britten’s gorgeous wedding ceremony was organized and planned with love by the couple, paying attention to each special detail to ensure a beautiful ceremony that was memorable for everyone involved. They decided to incorporate nontraditional practices into their wedding to make the experience unique and special. Their gorgeous wedding may serve as an inspiration to other couples planning their wedding and allow for more couples to create unique wedding ceremonies that are perfect and fitting for each new couple.

• Religious is usually a traditional ceremony that already has the program and less opportunity to be creative. It is usually performed within a church, cathedral, synagogue, mosque, etc. • Civil is a more casual ceremony performed by judges, justices of peace and state governors. Each county has different regulations about who can officiate a marriage ceremony and how to obtain a marriage license. • Commitment is a ceremony between two individuals who want to commit their lives to one another. This ceremony usually follows traditional wedding customs but allows for the couple to be very creative in how they would like the ceremony performed. Not all states will allow marriage licenses for commitment ceremonies.

What is the best dress style for my body type? There are so many guides out there to help you. These are never exactly accurate. Every woman has qualities of certain body types but the truth is most women are a mix of couple body types. The best way to figure out what works for your body type is to go to bridal shop and work with a consultant. Tell your consultant the areas of your body you would like to accent or how you would like to look on your wedding day. Do you want to accentuate a skinny waist? Well then, the corset bodice is for you. Do you have broad shoulders? Well then, try a sweetheart neckline. Your consultant is the one who is the expert so use their knowledge to help pick out the perfect dress for you.

How Many People Do I Bring Wedding Dress Shopping? Big groups can derail a bridal gown appointment. There are just “too many cooks in the kitchen”. Keep the group to a minimum and make sure to include at least one bridesmaid to try on bridesmaid dresses once the bridal gown is chosen. This way the bride can see what bridesmaid dresses go with the bridal gown. Remember that the dress is a reflection of your personal style and you who is wearing the dress. Do not be so influenced by family, friends or consultants that you are unhappy with the dress you are wearing. •37• rockfordbride.com

y r l e w e J Rings & Different Styles
• Domed - The traditional style of ring that is simplistic and not flashy. This style suits men who are not used to wearing jewelry. • Flat - One of the more popular styles is the contemporary flat style. They have squared off sides that make it look sleek and modern. • Patterned - Patterned rings come in a wide variety including two-toned (use of two different metals), woven, wave, and milgrain (tiny beaded pattern around edge ring). • Gemstones - Diamonds are the most popular gemstones to use, but there are also sapphires, rubies, emeralds, and more that can be used for a ring. Rings with gemstones require more care than the plain bands.
Metals • Sterling Silver - The least expensive metal and it is more prone to dents and nicks. Since silver is a soft metal it is mixed with another metal to make it more durable. In addition, it requires more polishing so it does not tarnish. • Gold - The traditional choice for men is gold and polished to a shiny finish. It is a popular choice for engraving and easily maintained. It is also an affordable option for choosing rings. • Platinum - It is a silver colored metal described as white. It is considered the most valuable among all the metals and the most durable. Platinum is prone to scratches which can be buffed out. • Palladium - This metal is considered platinum's cousin. Palladium is not as expensive as platinum. It became popular in the 1930’s when platinum was required for military purposes and hard to come by. • Titanium - This metal is lightweight and unbreakable. It has an industrial finish with less shine. • Tungsten - This metal is highly durable and scratch resistant. It is a dark gray color that is different from the traditional silver, white and gold rings. Tungsten is an inexpensive alternative to the traditional rings.

Save the Dates & Invitations • For a non-destination wedding, four to six months is the appropriate amount of time to send save the date cards. • For a destination wedding or a wedding that may be near a busy holiday weekend, six to twelve months is the appropriate amount of time to send save the date cards. • Wedding invitations should be sent out two or three months prior to the ceremony. • On a save the date card you typically would include your names, the date of the wedding, and a link directing people to your wedding website. • On your invitations you will want to add more specific information. The wedding invitations should include the bride and groom's names, the date, time and location of the ceremony and the time and location of the reception. This would also be a good time to include an inserted card with local hotel information for out of town guests. Lastly, you should include the reply card with the invitation. It is polite to add a self-addressed, pre-stamped envelope. Don’t forget the RSVP date on the reply cards! • It can be perceived as rude to include your registry information with your invitations or save the date cards. Make sure that those close to you, such as parents and the bridal party know where you are registered but do not include it in any printed material. It is okay to add this information on your wedding website because that is a less formal informational means of delivering updates and information.

Floral tidbits
If there is a color or color scheme that you like, make sure to discuss that with the florist and decorator. They will know exactly how to incorporate your colors into your wedding dĂŠcor. There are different colors that become popular with the seasons. Feel free to look into popular trends and incorporate them into your wedding color scheme. If you want to preserve the flowers that are used at your wedding, or reuse them, silk may be a wise choice. This is a material that will last and is somewhat durable to the point that it would be a good household decoration. Pick practically. Try and avoid choosing a flower that is out of season or hard to obtain in your area. This will eliminate unneeded stress.
Parties
celebrating the start of the wedding planning process. In the past these parties were how the engagement was announced to friends and family. An engagement party is also a good time for the bride and groom’s family to become acquainted prior to all of the planning and the ceremony. These parties are very casual and just a fun get-together for the families.
Bridal Shower
Any party is optional. There is no rule that forces you to have a party so do what is comfortable for you and your significant other. The only thing that would be indefinitely helpful is a rehearsal, but the details of what you do after the practice are solely up to you. Make sure that you are comfortable and going to have fun, these events are going to stay with you forever so you want to have the best time possible.

A bridal shower is an event where all the ladies gather together and “shower” the bride with gifts. These parties are usually held about a month or so before the wedding itself. Bridal showers are when the bride will receive many of the desired items on her wedding registry and will get to kick back and enjoy the day. It is normal and acceptable for the groom to attend these parties since he also will be using the presents. Traditionally, bridal showers are thrown by the bride’s family but anyone can throw a shower. It is okay to have more than one shower, especially if the groom’s family would like to host a separate one.
Bachelor & Bachelorette Parties The bachelor and bachelorette parties are two events that occur shortly before the wedding. The parties are seen as the bride and grooms last night of freedom. These parties are a get together for the groom and his male friends and family, and the bride and her female friends and family to go out and do something fun. These can be a calm night in or a crazy night out on the town. The events that occur in the party are something fun that the bride or groom would like to do to have fun and relax. The best man typically throws the bachelor party, and the maid of honor typically throws the bachelorette party.

Rehearsal Dinner A rehearsal dinner is an event that occurs the night prior to the wedding. There will be a wedding rehearsal prior to the dinner, allowing the parents, bridal party, and the bride and groom to do a run through of the ceremony and work out all the details for the actual ceremony the following day. Afterwards, the dinner party occurs. This is something that the groom’s parents traditionally host. Dinner is an opportunity for everyone to relax and have a nice time before the busy next day. During or after dinner the bride and groom have the opportunity to thank those involved in the wedding along with giving thank you gifts to those involved in the planning, such as the parents.
Bridal Brunch
Gift Opening
The bridesmaid’s luncheon or bridal brunch can be held before or after the wedding festivities. This is a thank you meal to your bridesmaids or the whole bridal party. This is something that the bride and groom pay for and can be held whenever you see fit. Timing depends on the location of those attending, whether you hold the party before or after your wedding will have to do with those attendings travel plans. This would be an ideal time to give out thank you presents to those in your bridal party because it is an intimate gathering of all the people who will be involved directly in your special day.
A gift opening party is an event taking place soon after the wedding. During this party, family and friends are welcomed to watch you and your new spouse open your wedding gifts. This is a fun time for everyone to get together again after the wedding, and for you to share the excitement caused by your new gifts with those close to you. These parties are not as common anymore, but still a possibility and a fun experience.

Groom’s Cake The groom’s cake is popular trend where the bride orders a cake that is decorated in the groom’s favorite activity, movie, sports, etc. Traditionally, the groom’s cake was an old Southern tradition to be served to the single women at the reception. The women would then take it home and put it under their pillow to dream about their future spouses. The cake can be served at the rehearsal dinner, wedding reception, or boxed as wedding favors.

tidbits
If you have someone within your circle of friends and family who is a videotaping hobbyist, then ask them to videotape the event as well. They will usually capture a different point of view then the videographer and it will add to your memories. Just mention that they are not to interfere with the videographer or else there could be a hostile situation. Do not hire a videographer who uses blinding lights with their equipment. They can intimidate guests and make the videographer stand out. The videographer should blend in and not disrupt the ceremony or the reception. This will cause unneeded stress.

tidbits Music is key to setting the tone throughout the ceremony and reception. It is not wise to cut corners on the wedding budget here. Look for musicians, bands, and disc jockeys that have experience with weddings and someone who will work with the other vendors.
Create a Moment Jordan Chance, Luxe Productions
A bride is about to walk down the aisle. The music is soft and elegant. The lighting is a dim, warm white resembling candlelight. The feeling is romantic. A couple is enjoying their first dance as man and wife. The lights move slowly around them as their favorite song plays. Fog circles around their feet as if they are dancing on a cloud. The feeling is magical. The party is about to begin. The music builds and the guests are on their feet. The DJ announces the bride and groom and they enter as the lights and the crowd go wild. The feeling is excitement. The use of lighting, sound, and special effects helped create a mood and a feeling in each of these pivotal moments. Here are a few tips on putting these techniques to use on your special day: Lighting: Color can set a mood or enhance features of a room. Uplighting and programmed dance floor lights can bring the energy! Part of the reason a concert is so exciting is the lighting. You can have this same effect at your reception. With a live lighting technician matching the feeling in the room with his lights, we can enhance the subtle romance of a slow dance with warm colors and patterns. When the energy is high we can turn your reception into a world-class night club! Lighting is key when creating a memorable event.

Geysers & CO2 Cannons: Make your grand entrance truly memorable! Posting music to just the right spot, focusing the crowds attention, and then bang! This is how you want to be announced to all of your friends and family as newlyweds and kick off the party. Envision your crowd cheering at the top of their lungs as you enter between two pillars of smoke. This is a rockstar entrance that won’t soon be forgotten. A Killer Playlist: Music is so important to life! There is a reason that when you hear a certain song memories start to flood back to you. The music at your reception is just as important. Be sure to pick music that is appropriate for each portion of the evening. Just because it’s a good song doesn’t make it a good dance song. The most fun receptions are when everyone is dancing and having a good time. Pick your music accordingly, thinking about your guests. Start the evening with older music and work your way to current pop songs to give each generation a chance to dance. If you have songs that are significant to you but are not danceable, fit them into the cocktail or dinner hour. The experience of your wedding is what makes it memorable to you and your guests. Bringing in these special touches will ensure the moments remain unforgettable.

Rentals
Indoor weddings will be a little easier to rent for, but make sure that you are renting items that will fit into the venue. Size matters! Make sure that your rentals are able to withstand the weather. If there is a drizzle or a lot of sun make sure that the product is still going to be practical. Metal chairs would not be good on a sunny day, and cloth padding on chairs would do badly if there was a drizzle prior to your wedding. You should begin to reserve, or make the preparations for any rentals about six to eight months prior to your wedding. You should have your vendor picked out already, so you will have a general idea of what you do and do not need to rent. You also want to make sure that you are giving the rental company plenty of notice and time to obtain the item you need, and make sure that it will be ready for you. Renting is going to have a cost, but it may be very beneficial to you. If you purchased all of the items you are choosing to rent, you need to have space for them. With rentals you choose the day they are dropped off and picked up. Depending on the item and the rental company will ultimately affect the price. Make sure to shop around and make sure you are getting the best deal and the product that matches your needs. The demand for certain items may be higher depending on the season too so make sure that you are calling ahead and planning for what you need.

Don’t crowd the rooms to save. Your guests are here to enjoy your special day, make sure they are comfortable and happy. Shop, shop, shop! Chances are there are many different hotel choices; there is no need to settle. Choose a hotel that is close to where your festivities may be held, and that is not hard to find. n o i t a t r o p Trans Types of Transportation
• Limousine - This is one of the more practical and widely used forms of transportation. • Party Bus - This option is very fun and practical before and after the wedding and traveling to the reception. You can cut down on vehicles by putting the entire bridal party into one huge vehicle. Party busses have a ton of room and are useful for keeping everyone on track and together; if everyone is in the same vehicle they will all arrive at the same time. • Horse Drawn Carriage - Horse drawn carriages definitely give that princess feel to your wedding, but they can be tricky. The weather is a big contributor to whether a horse drawn carriage would work. During the winter or if there is rain, this option would not be the best. You also need to see if your area provides these services and if they don’t, how much it would cost for someone to come to you. • Personal Automobile - Your own car is always an option. This is probably not going to be the method you choose to arrive in, but after the reception there is nothing wrong with using your own car as your “get-away” car. It is practical and you will be in total control, which is nice in case you decide to change your plans for after the reception at the last minute. You also don’t have to worry about a payment or time frame since that is all in your own hands.

● Make sure you have a copy of your marriage license. You need the original or a certified copy. This will have the raised seal and your last name on it. If your state has a long-form certificate make sure to request a copy of that one.
● Change your Social Security Card. Go to the Social Security Administration's website and print out the necessary application, then take the form and all necessary documents to your local Social Security Administration’s office.
● Change your drivers license. Go to your local Department of Motor Vehicles with all the paperwork you have; marriage license, old drivers license, and your new Social Security card. Make sure that you do not need any additional paperwork.
● Change your bank accounts. Bring your new drivers license and marriage license. Make sure to request new checks and new credit and debit cards.
● Change all other accounts and memberships. This list includes, but is not limited to: the post office, your employers, any sort of agency that sends you bills, doctors offices, your attorney and your insurance companies.
