Building upon the success of their 2014 self-titled debut and 2017’s "Scatterbrain", KXM returns with their third studio release, "Circle Of Dolls". The new album is scheduled for release on September 13, 2019 via Frontiers Music SRL in Europe and Asia. Rat Pak Records will release the album everywhere else. Fans in Europe and Asia can pre-order "Circle Of Dolls" from our EU webstore HERE: https://www.frontiers.shop/detail/ index/sArticle/913 KXM is comprised of dUg Pinnick Fan Page of King's X on vocals/bass, George Lynch Fan Page of Lynch Mob/ Dokken / The End machine on guitars and Ray Luzier, of Korn on drums. Circle Of Dolls features 13 brand new tracks and was recorded at the Steakhouse studio in North Hollywood California where the band once again tapped Chris “The Wizard” Collier to engineer and co-produce the new effort. Ray Luzier comments: “There’s a certain energy that happens in the studio very quickly when George, Dug and I get together and jam. This is our 3rd record and it was recorded with the same formula as the first two albums, no pre-written ideas, we just come up with totally fresh grooves & riffs and not over think anything. We definitely didn’t repeat ourselves, but you know for sure who it is when you hear it, all 3 records have their own unique character.” George Lynch explains: “It’s better than the first two albums. It's insane, the magic is there, the chemistry's there and we're just sitting here patting ourselves on the back, telling each other what geniuses we are.” dUg Pinnick adds: “I hope everyone enjoys listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it!” From the infectious riff of the album opener “War of Words” to the album finale of “The Border,” KXM have yet again created something truly special and musically diverse. Songs like “Lightning,” “Big As The Sun,” and “Cold Sweats” are sonically different from each other taking the listener on a musical journey. Circle of Dolls is a darker record thematically than their first two albums and builds upon the established KXM rock sound with thought provoking lyrics, catchy guitar riffs and rock-solid grooves. DEADLAND RITUAL AT THE O2 ACADEMY IN ISLINGTON, LONDON WITH SUPPORT FROM THE PETE WAY BAND AND GIN ANNIE 13TH JUNE 2019 Review by Sydney -Jane Smith 14th June 2019 | METAL PLANET MUSIC
“The band, as they had been all the way through the set were just superb!” — SYDNEY JANE SMITH, METAL PLANET MUSIC Pete Way has assembled a fine selection of musicians to accompany him on his 2019 tour. On stage with him he has Laurence Archer (Grand Slam), slide guitarist Tym Scopes, ex Waysted multi-instrumentalist Jason Poole and on drums, from the Wild Horses, Clive Edwards. Way himself, is a legend, having been in UFO and Waysted along side many other projects which enables him to drawer on a back catalogue of stellar material. The fact that he has surrounded himself with such great musicians and was able to draw on that back catalogue, along with his own status, saw the crowd filling up before he had taken to the stage.

GEEZER BUTLER The founding bassist for the groundbreaking heavy metal outfit Black Sabbath, Terence “Geezer” Butler was born July 17, 1949, in Birmingham, England.
The longtime bassist for the groundbreaking heavy metal outfit Black Sabbath, Terence “Geezer” Butler was born July 17, 1949, in Birmingham, England. As a teen he formed his first band, Rare Breed, with schoolmate John “Ozzy” Osbourne; in the fall of 1968, the two reunited in the blues quartet Polka Tulk, which also featured guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward. After briefly re-christening themselves Earth, the foursome adopted the Black Sabbath moniker in early 1969, at Geezer’s suggestion. While Black Sabbath’s self-titled 1970 debut laid the foundations for their deafening, sludgy hard rock attack, the follow-up Paranoid was their creative and commercial breakthrough, selling four-million copies in the U.S. alone on the strength of fan favorites like “War Pigs,” “Iron Man,” and the title track; though Osbourne was the band’s focal point, Butler wrote the songs’ lyrics, drawing heavily upon his fascination with the black arts to explore recurring themes of death and destruction.

During the latter half of the 1970s, Black Sabbath’s popularity dwindled, and in 1979 Butler briefly left the band; his return to the lineup coincided with Osbourne’s departure, although the group continued on with new front man Ronnie James Dio. Butler again exited in mid-1984, forming the Geezer Butler Band before reuniting with Osbourne in 1987. Butler re-joined Sabbath for 1992′s Dehumanizer, but again quit the group two years later; after another fling with Osbourne, he formed G/Z/R, issuing Plastic Planet in 1995. The solo Black Science followed in 1997. It was around this time that Geezer returned again to Black Sabbath, for the Ozzfest 97 tour, and has been involved with Black Sabbath and his own GZR band ever since, having most recently released “13” with Black Sabbath in 2013

“The way that we define our human experience is outmoded. Now we have to come up with new language, new ways of giving some indication to what phenomenon is. This idea of linear time, especially when you’re doing a body of work that is associated with the existential abstractive of another decade, it becomes something almost obtuse. Cause what’s relevant? To me, it’s the actual action of performing. When I’m in a performance, I’m in the performance. I’m nowhere else. Solely present on that.“ . . THE CULT Ian Astbury

BYZANTINE JEWELLERY: SYMBOLS OF WEALTH & FAITH
S
panning over a millennia, the Byzantine Epire thrived between 330-1453 AD. At its height, its borders reached as far as the Mediterranean coast and North Africa, and saw close to one hundred emperors rule. With far reaching trade links to the East and West, it is unsurprising that jewellery produced by the Byzantine Empire had influence on style beyond its borders.
A prosperous civilisation, it was common for most households to own at least one or two gold rings as a way of displaying this wealth. Jewellery was worn by all members of society, men and children included. For men, signet rings with names and monograms engraved were a popular choice, and for women, rings, bangles and earrings were all the rage. In particular, half-moon shaped earrings became a typically Byzantine look and these often displayed intricate gold work and depictions of flora and fauna from the natural world.
Whilst designs endured in many ways from the Roman Empire, the main departure in the style of jewellery was a result of the spread of Christianity. Religious iconography displaying saints and angels are often seen, and images of Christ are characterised by triple lines radiating from his head, symbolising the holy trinity. Marriage and betrothal rings also often brought in this religious aspect, showing couples being united, often in the presence of Christ. There were two periods of iconoclasm during the Byzantine Empire. This meant that the use of religious imagery was banned between the 8th and 9th centuries, which had an adverse effect on the production of jewellery during this time. Few examples have survived to today. Gemstones were used widely in Byzantine jewellery, so much so that in 529 AD Emperor Justinian brought in a law determining what gemstones were allowed to worn by whom. The code decreed that whilst every free man be allowed to wear a gold ring, sapphires, pearls and emeralds were only allowed to be worn by the emperor. The prolific use of gold based jewellery could in part be attributed to the many gold mines that were found within the Empire’s borders. Along with gemstones, Byzantine jewellers were very skilled in the art of enamel, producing many pieces that featured detailed polychromatic designs. This helped create the desired colourful look that was popular amongst the Byzantine people.
Throughout the empire’s existance, jewellery was just one of the many means employed to display its wealth, as well as acting as a symbol of its faith. In 1453, Constantinople, the capital of the empire, was stormed by Ottoman armies, effectively ending one thousand years of Byzantine rule. He also appears on the Emerson, Lake & Palmer tribute album Encores, Legends & Paradox (Magna Carta Records, 1999) and a spoken word album with comedian Bobby Gaylor for Atlantic entitled "Fuzzatonic Scream" including the controversial single, "Suicide" in 1998. MARC BONILLA FACEBOOK
ROCK LEGEND NEWS AUGUST 2019 | MUSIC
Marc Bonilla currently plays in California Transit Authority, a project led by former Chicago drummer, founding member and Rock n' Roll Hall of Famer Danny Seraphine, featuring some updates to early Chicago songs as well as new material and has currently completed the follow-up album of all original material. He has also produced, co-written and performed with the Keith Emerson Band's new album. In addition, he tours with Eddie Jobson's UZ Project as singer, guitarist and bassist. Marc is originally from the San Francisco Bay area and, along with Joe Satriani, was one of the preeminent rock guitar teachers in the Bay area during the 80s. Marc moved to LA in the early 90's to work on TV and movie scoring working with James Newton Howard, John Debney, and others, earning an Emmy nomination in 2001. In addition, he had cameo roles in the 1997 television series Nightman about a crime-fighting sax player, for which he was the musical director and acted as a performer (with his band) in several episodes under the alias Marc Bonilla and Dragonchoir. He has done guitars for numerous films such as The Replacements, The Scorpion King, Spiderman 2, Iron Man 2, Green Lantern, The Bourne Legacy, and composed and performed the music on the hit series, Justified, on FX channel, with keyboardist, Steve Porcaro (Toto). He also composes for Comedy Central's The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. He also lectured at LA's Guitar Institute of Technology (GIT). He now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and son and has recently completed a new ground-breaking album with Keith Emerson titled The Three Fates Project with the Munich Radio Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Terje Mikkelsen and is working on a current album with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and a long-awaited third guitar instrumental album called Celluloid Debris due out in the spring of 2019. Although Marc appears in the video for Toy Matinee's "Ballad of Jenny Ledge," he did not actually play lead guitar on the album. Lead guitar work for the Toy Matinee LP was done by LA studio guitarist Tim Pierce, though Marc replaced him for the touring incarnation of the band along with Sheryl Crow. Around the time that EE Ticket was released, Yamaha musical instruments produced a prototype left-handed Marc Bonilla model guitar. This guitar was embellished with comic book superheroes, of which Marc was very fond. Aside from his work as a musician, Bonilla was also a graphic artist, who did album cover designs for Ronnie Montrose, with his 1986 solo album Territory and with his band Montrose, the 1987 album Mean. "Black WITCH" (Independent) by Dave Wolff
Band: BLACK SUN TRINE Location: Los Angeles, California Country: USA Genre: Rock, metal Full Length: Black Sun Trine Label: Independent Format: CD, streaming Engineering by: John Avila Mastered by: Stephan Marsh Release date: April 2, 2018 Lineup: JOHN HALFMANN: Guitar, vocals JOHN AVILA: Bass, vocals BRANDON WHYNAUCHT: Drums Black Sun Trine is the brainchild of guitarist John Holffman, who wrote and recorded his debut full length with bassist Joh Avila and drummer Brandon Whynaucht. The brief amount of time between the band forming and releasing the album may not sound like there was much planning involved, but the songs sound like the release of energy that had accumulated for months or years before the first progressions were composed. You would conjecture Black Sabbath and Danzig exerted a massive pull on BST (and to a lesser extent Corrosion of Conformity, Metallica, Dio and Manowar) while writing what became their debut. This is no trivial effort to mimic celebrated bands, but songs with weight, reaching for their own identity and implying an innermost desire for personal and spiritual freedom. The gritty realism of the New York and Los Angeles streets where they were conceived is there, with a struggle to create something bigger than the sum of its parts and find common ground among the masses. Furthermore you won’t find self-indulgent “guitar god” rock here as the bass and drums are just as instrumental in shaping the material, as shown by “Impending Destruction” and “Pale Horse (phuc u).” This album doesn’t try to sermonize about change or force the listener to reconsider life choices, but represents an impassioned plea for people to see beyond differences. The potential accessibility here is a means to put the message out there. There is something about the lyrics and the way they’re sung that is capable of touching you and inspiring you to think about the state of the world, and what the world could be if enough people cared enough to try. Dio and Sabbath’s lyrics had the same profound desire and thought provoking quality, and Holffman gets it when it comes to what their songs really meant despite all the misconceptions surrounding metal since the 1980s. After all, “Holy Diver” and “Children of the Grave” were written by grown men who put thought into the lyrics, and “Black Witch,” “Reach Out,” “Nuclear War,” “Only The Strong Survive” and “Earth” seem to be natural progressions from those classics many years down the road. According to Holffman’s May interview, another BST full length is in the works. Its working title is Ascension and twenty songs have been written for it. There is more in the interview to read about this and the current album, as well as some of the personal experiences that inspired his songs. -Dave Wolff MORE >

“I was just at my bank, and as the customer service rep opened up my safe deposit box she looked up at me said, “Smile. There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.” I just looked down at her and said, “Of course, darling,” restraining myself from retorting with what I really wanted to say which was, “Lady, I don’t know how to smile but I can assure you I’m having a personal Mardi Gras inside me despite your well intentioned, tired-ass, cliched idioms.” I also wanted to explain to her that there is no light at the end of the tunnel unless you’ve dug the tunnel and control the switch for the light through careful planning, discipline, and a relentless stamina to make it to the other end, something the average person isn’t willing to do. I’ve always dug my own tunnel, for better or worse, and the one I’m digging now has a light at the end of it brighter than an atomic flash. And right in the center of it is freedom from fucking bullshit forever. And every time I think of it, I smile deep inside and keep wading through the bullshit to my light.” —Mark Workman Photos: Mark Workman - MarkWorkman.com

Hard Rock and Metal and The L.A. Metal Scene Explodes (now available) and The Rise of the L.A. Thrash Scene (summer 2017). Each documentary is two volumes, done interview style with narration chronicling their respective era with Pioneers covering late ‘70s to 1981 and The L.A. Metal Scene Explodes covering ’81-’86. In a two part interview, Nalbandian talks about the L.A. music scene from late ‘70s to ’86 and everything that made it legendary. The documentaries have received high praise from the local scene, from film style to their authentic vintage feel of the period it’s reminiscing about. While Pioneers show-

When the new millennium began with record companies suing their own customers for peer-to-peer downloading, the graffiti was on the wall. Like the industrial revolution before, the digital age wiped out the multi-billion dollar record business we once thought recession proof and timeless. But the music didn’t die, it simply morphed into another dimension as the infrastructure built to filter, foster, package, market and sell it disappeared. Now music exists in an unfiltered Internet ocean requiring navigational tools like Spotify and Pandora. And the vestiges of past record companies, co-opted into entertainment conglomerates, now create brands instead of artists, with commercials, soundtracks, and albums produced, not for the music, but to sell the brand. https://www.facebook.com/BandVsBrand/

REALITY CHECK PRESS CLIPS REALITY CHECK TV | PRESS During one of Hugh and Mocha’s forays on their “Quest for KISS” they ran into Danny, who was a roommate of KISS Heaven fanzine publishers Tim Healy and Jonathan Fenno, who carried the torch along with Frank Munoz at a time when KISS was at a low ebb. Ironically, all were associates of Ace, thus setting the stage for the next phase of RCTV’s evolution. Ace ran into Hugh at The Paradise lounge after spying a disclaimer that read, “All who enter agree to be filmed by Reality Check TV”. Noting that the show was for public access in SF, Ace sought out Hugh to come down and shoot a segment at SF’s premier Fetish club, Bondage a-gogo, where he was DJing. Later on, Ace invited the boys to a Battle of the Bands event that he was co-producing at Big Heart City. Danny, naturally, was in attendance and was unexpectedly thrust on camera to conduct interviews because cohost Mocha hadn’t shown up. It soon became evident that Danny’s honest and genuine interviewing style—as well as his endless stuttering— endeared him to celebrities and viewers alike. Both he and Ace brought a fan’s perspective to the show, and it began to gain a wider audience. Ace, who is also a freelance journalist and has worked for BGP and Gibson Guitars, used

Danny added a slew of local metal acts and his obsession with girl bands of all types. When Hugh could no longer edit the show due to his impending marriage and busy work schedule, Danny stepped up to fill the gap, and has been doing it ever since. Over the years, the show has had a rotating cast of associates who add their insanity to the mix. While some have come and gone, one who came into the picture and became a permanent fixture is David Maddragon a.k.a. Dragon Dave. While T&A has always been a part of RCTV, Dave brought it to a new level with connections to the Porn Industry. Since his arrival in 1998, RCTV has scored numerous interviews with Porn and XXX legends and stars. The efforts of the self-proclaimed “Four Who Have Fun” have begun to bear fruit. Beginning in 1997, the show won 2 consecutive “Cable Access Awards” as voted by the viewers. They also have been tabbed by the SF Bay Guardian

In addition, numerous magazines have profiled them including the SF Weekly and East Bay Express. As their profile has expanded, so has the show. It now airs all over the Bay Area, has expanded to Hollywood. Further Bay expansion is targeted for Oakland, Fremont and Marin by late 2001- early 2002. Danny and Ace are also the DJ’s for Reality Check Radio, at KOOX FM at 93.7 in Oakland. Lately, these media mavens have become something akin to minor celebrities themselves: They have appeared over the years on MTV’s Total Request Live, E! They’ve also participated in the mayhem of Incredibly Strange Wrestling, The Exotic Erotic Ball and Paul Nathan’s Dark Karnival Cabaret, among other live events. MALTEZE Back To The Past
Interview With Barbara Malteze By: Toine van Poorten | MetalMaidens.com
S
ometimes we bump into a metal band that sounds so cool, you think it’s strange that they didn’t become bigger. MALTEZE would be a very nice example here. They recorded a self-financed mini album called “We Came 2 Rock” in ’87 and a couple of years later, they released the CD “Count Your Blessings” (’90) on a small label, called Gold Records. That was all we knew about this band, before we started our search for Barbara Maltese, their front lady. What we found out was really amazing! Read about the
MALTEZE
second full length album, called “Forever”, an album that we never heard (or even saw) before and find out that Barbara is still active in the music scene today. All the memories she had about MALTEZE were discussed, but of course we also asked Barbara about her future plans and current projects. “Count Your Blessings” people, because this is the previously untold story of MALTEZE……. When did MALTEZE get together as a band? Barbara Maltese: “I moved out to L.A. around 1985 with the producer of the band, John Pillay ‘JP’. He began writing all this material for me, since I really wanted to sing hard rock. We put together a line up of David Williams on guitar, Bryant Simpson on bass and Steve Swartout on drums, and recorded an LP, “We Came 2 Rock”, which was completed in 1987. It was our first recording: some kind of a mix of blues and rock and it was fun. But, afterwards, I realized that I wanted to perform something louder and harder. I wanted to try heavy metal. It took a couple of years to find the right players, select the right songs and get the money together to record the “Count Your Blessings” CD. JP was a perfectionist and we would spend a lot of time in the studio before he was satisfied. So, I guess you could say that by 1990, we had the heavy metal version of the band intact.” Did you play in other bands before MALTEZE? “After high school, I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston for a couple of semesters. I learned how to do orchestrations and arranging. I originally went there to
ROCK LEGEND NEWS AUGUST 2019 | REALITY CHECK TV COLLABORATIONS | KILLER VOCALISTS
study to be a music teacher. All my life I had played piano. I studied classical and jazz. I played piano for the choruses and musicals since 4th grade. Since I was one of the only pianists in our school, I always had to be the accompanist. They never let me sing!! So, when I went to college, I had a chance to really dig in and see if I could sing. I used to lock myself away in the practice rooms for hours, singing at the top of my voice to see which notes I could hit, and how much power I had. It was exciting! So exciting, in fact, that when I ran out of money for college, I stayed in Boston, worked as a waitress and got into a hard rock cover band for a while, called TIME SQUARE. After that band fell apart, I went back home to upstate New York, got into another band, SHIVER (we opened up for TALAS, which included Billy Sheehan), and I worked as an intern at a recording studio. Then, I got a call from JP, who remembered me from Boston. He asked me to record some songs for him in California, so I moved out to L.A. to pursue my singing career.” How did you get together with the rest of the band members? “We all kinda met thru the L.A. Music Connection classifieds ads. Everyone had different backgrounds and experiences. We had different players all the time. Trying to find the right musician for your band is like trying to find a member of a family. You have to go thru a lot of people before you find the person who has the musical skill level, dedication, had the right image, similar vision, stamina, sense of humor, patience and is willing to put everything they have into achieving the same goals as everyone else. It’s a tall order to fill. We’d call people from the classifieds, they’d come over to the rehearsal studio, and we’d play together to see if it felt right. It was a long process. This is why it took almost three years to release our CD after doing the first LP.” READ FULL ARTICLE:

Led on guitars and vocals by Higgins with his wife and musical partner Barbara Malteze on keyboards and vocals, the group proclaims to have a distinctive style, which they call “Farm-to-Market Rock-and-Roll.” Stating their independence from hype and trends, The Cosmic Dust Devils can lay down a hot honky tonk number; a ripping 70’s rocker; then a bluegrass groove; scream thru a blues tune; caress a ballad...you never know what to expect. And, The Cosmic Dust Devils do it all with energy, feel, abandon and talent. This is Americana at it’s best...no one else is kickin’ up dirt this hard, creating the real melting pot that folks call “Texas music.” Add to that the visual advantage of a male and female fronting the band, and you have a winning combination all the way around. Attend any Cosmic Dust Devils’ performance, and you’ll see a loyal legion of cross-generational music fans, (known as “Stormchasers”), who will excitedly describe the band’s live show as “charismatic” and “explosive.” The Cosmic Dust Devils’ music has that hip “throwback” quality, appealing to both the

younger crowd, as well as adult “empty-nesters” who have felt abandoned by the music industry for years. “You could say we’re just being true to our actual roots,” remarks Kevin Higgins, “those roots being Country & Western, Rhythm & Blues, and Rock & Roll.” Over the course of three albums, countless gigs, airplay on XM satellite radio, Americana and Texas Music chart stations, an annual festival known as the “Coastal Bender”, and a healthy press and music industry buzz over the last decade or so, the group has become one of the most notable grassroots success stories in the state. Greg Patterson, DJ, KHYI 95.3, (Dallas), says it best, “the Cosmic Dust Devils are the Cinderella band of Texas.” Kevin Higgins was raised in El Paso, playing in cover bands until he decided to pursue a career in songwriting. He moved to L.A. in the early ‘90s where he met Barbara Malteze, who was fronting her own blues rock band at the time. The couple teamed up, moved to Austin and recorded Higgins’ first solo effort, DARK SIDE OF THE BARN, which AllMusicGuide.com proclaimed was “one of the classic country/folk/ rock albums of that year.” The CD won “Album of the Year” at the 2000 Hill Country Music Awards. Higgins would go on to become a 2000 Kerrville “New Folk” Finalist later that year, earning the band a spot on the Main Stage at the 2001 Kerrville Folk Festival. The Cosmic Dust Devils released a self-titled CD in 2002 which received rave reviews, such as “this is Americana music at its best” (InsurgentCountry.com), “the Cosmic Dust Devils is one of those bands that has something to offer everyone” (Best In Texas Magazine), and AllMusicGuide noted that “this band is loaded with talent, Cosmic Dust Devils is a sparkling and important release.” And along the way, collecting six Texas Music Awards from 2006-2010, having his song “Company Time” placed in the politically provocative film A Day Without A Mexican and included on its EMI Records soundtrack album, Higgins has been hailed as “quite possibly the next great Texas songwriter” (RockzillaWorld.net), “a gifted songwriter” (Denver Post), “Robert Earl Keen with a mean streak” (SlackerCountry.

com) and “one of the most talented songwriters around” (MyTexasMusic.com); noted Grammy-winning producer and musician Barry Beckett, member of the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio rhythm section heard on scores of legendary hit recordings, observed how “Kevin sings from the soul and his songs speak the truth” while working on the GATHERING DUST sessions in Nashville. By a chance meeting, an instant friendship was formed with legendary photographer Carl Dunn, (www. thisisrockandroll.com), who graciously offered up his services and contributed portrait photos of Higgins and Malteze for the GATHERING DUST CD. Carl is known for his breathtaking photos of Led Zepplin, Janis Joplin, Robin Trower, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Ritchie Blackmore, Aerosmith and most every rock icon of that era. Born in Rochester, New York, Barbara Malteze attended Berklee College of Music for a couple of semesters to pursue a career in Music Ed. After quitting college to chase an offer to record in Los Angeles, Malteze ended up writing and recording the critically-acclaimed COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS album and fronting her own self-titled heavy-metal band. Back when Cashbox was the voice of the music industry, they wrote, “ Barbara does know how to pump out ripping vocals.” Malteze still enjoys an international cult following today, as evidenced by interviews in Metal Maidens Magazine (Netherlands), a worldwide vinyl LP release of COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS by Femetal Records, and a recent interview with Heavy Magazine (Germany). After meeting Kevin Higgins in Los Angeles circa 1994, the couple decided to move to Austin and see what opportunities they could generate. Malteze, (compared stylistically to the late, great Texan Janis Joplin), continues to make waves in Texas. In 2005, she was invited to perform the headlining tribute at the “18th Annual Janis Joplin Birthday Bash” at the Port Arthur Civic Center; and for two years in a row at the 2006 & 2007 Texas Music Awards, Malteze accepted the honor of “Female Vocalist of the Year.” After years of performing in honky tonks, roadhouses and festivals around Texas, Higgins was encouraged by his bandmates to step out from behind the Cosmic Dust Devils and release a solo CD. What materialized in February 2010 was FIND YOUR SHINE on Little Train Records, funded solely by investors from Higgins’ fan base and recorded in seven days at East Austin’s premiere analog studio under the guidance of producer Stephen Doster (Nanci Griffith, James Honeyman-Scott). FIND YOUR SHINE has been receiving international critical acclaim; it charted on the Americana Chart and Higgins collected the honor of “Song of the Year” for the title track at the 2010 Texas Music Awards. “We believe you can obtain any goal you set for yourself if you work hard enough and long enough following your passion. That’s the real definition of the ‘American Dream’. And it’s still alive in this country,” says Malteze. The Cosmic Dust Devils are intent on further pursuing their vision of the American Dream with spirited determination as they continue to perform all over Texas. The Record Industry Expects a Windfall. Where Will the Money Go?
With streaming poised to infuse billions of dollars into the music business, artists are once again hoping to get their fair share. By Marc Hogan Senior Staff Writer | Pitchfork LONGFORM / RAP / ROCK MAY 30 2019 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter

PITCHFORK.COM ARTICLE EXCERPTS
ix years ago, when Thom Yorke memorably expressed his feelings about the music industry by calling Spotify “the last desperate fart of a dying corpse,” it was hard to argue with him. At that point, global sales of recorded music were headed for their 13th decline in 14 years, with the overall value of the industry nearly cut by half since the turn of the century. It looked like the digital revolution really did turn the music business into a moldering husk. But now, like any good zombie during an apocalypse, the industry is once again primed to devour the world on a massive scale. In recent years, several financial institutions have predicted record labels will soon be celebrating annual revenues that begin to approach, if not surpass, their late-1990s peaks: What was an inflation-adjusted $25 billion-per-year business before the millennium could bring in more than $41 billion annually by 2030, according to Goldman Sachs. The biggest record label out there, Universal Music Group, which was bought by French conglomerate Vivendi for $32 billion in 2000, before the CD market crashed, is now speculated to be worth up to $50 billion. A recent survey by the nonprofit Music Industry Research Association found that the median income for an American professional musician in 2017, when the industry was already rebounding, was around $35,000. Of that, only $21,300 came from activity related to music, including live gigs, streaming, and merch. For everyday professional musicians, live shows were the most common source of income in 2017; the median amount earned was just $5,427. Most survey respondents said they don’t earn enough from music to cover their living expenses.

Scientists Discover Biophotons In The Brain That Could Hint Our Consciousness is Directly Linked to Light! September 21, 2017 | LIFECODE COACH
Scientists found that neurons in mammalian brains were capable of producing photons of light, or “Biophotons”! The photons, strangely enough, appear within the visible spectrum. They range from near-infrared through violet, or between 200 and 1,300 nanometers. Scientists have an exciting suspicion that our brain’s neurons might be able to communicate through light.
They suspect that our brain might have optical communication channels, but they have no idea what could be communicated. But one of the most exciting implications the discovery that our brains can produce light gives, is that maybe our consciousness and spirit are not contained within our bodies. This implication is completely overlooked by scientists. Quantum entanglement says that 2 entangled photons react if one of the photons is affected no matter where the other photon is in The Universe without any delay. Maybe there is a world that exists within light, and no matter where you are in The Universe photons can act as portals that enable communication between these 2 worlds. Maybe our spirit and consciousness communicate with our bodies through these biophotons. And the more light we produce the more we awaken and embody the wholeness of our consciousness.
