KISMET, WAY OF THE SWORD Pete Way was born for the stage - the rock and roll stage. He dabbled in all facets of its lifestyle to experience every desire, device and vice that makes a rock star legendary - at all costs. In doing so, Pete owned every stage his presence hovered over. It was a “natural thing.”

Great art created by rock stars like Pete Way are sometimes seen as derived from a fantasy lifestyle. While that can be so, some of the best art is born from sharp edged blade cuts; while ‘walking on the edge.’
Pete knew his destiny, and he accepted it all just as he accepted each new mission the gods sent to him; new experiences that would become a song — part of his kismet. Being a rock legend holds responsibility. Intuitively, Pete knew this and humbly wanted to be remembered for being an artist of value, but he also wanted to be known as someone who dazzled his audience. THE FORCE OF DESTINY Around the time the David Bowie tarocchi deck kit was released in September 2018, Florence, Italy visual artist Londa R. Marks had begun a tarocchi deck kit of 80 cards inspired by bass legend Pete Way and Florence, Italy’s Dante Alighieri. It was published May 26, 2020. A pictorial from the digital art collection entitled,“Kismet, Way Of The Sword,” is featured in this Rock Legend News Tribute to Pete Way issue. Tarocchi (tarot) playing cards include 22-78 scenes related to tbe ages old game format that began during the 15th century Milan, Italy.

Much like the poet Pete Way, Dante Aligheri was the soul of language and passionate expression through words. This is an excerpt from Dante’s Divine Comedy, Paradiso Canto 1 which is included in the accompanying booklets of, “Kismet, Way Of The Sword,” deck kit:

Dante and Virgil arrive on Mount Purgatory. Wondering and worrying about his shadow, Virgil reassures Dante, then Dante talks against Florence and falls asleep. When Dante wakes up by the gate of Purgatory, Virgil tells him St. Lucia carried him there in his sleep. On the seventh terrace of the Lustful, Dante asks how souls can become emaciated if they don’t require food. Dante is afraid of entering the wall of flame in the seventh terrace but Virgil tempts him with the promise that he’ll see Beatrice on the other side so, Dante walks through flames to another realm. There he sees a performer ghosting the sky, invading their camp as if from another world where the entity of a performer channels them, bidding for their knowledge and insight, experiencing what they are experiencing in order to take the poetic essence of it all back to the stage.” Card upright keywords: Creative code. During 15th century Florence, Italy, Cosimo de’ Medici said, “Art and Magic always call to each other.” Creating magical worlds is what Londa does best. Marks’ studio is located on Way Of The Sword in the art capital of the world, Florence, Italy where ancient knowledge, code and symbolism is the way of life and a magnificent source for her studies and inspiration.
