GINGER BAKER
19 August 1939 – 6 October 2019 Drummer For Cream & Blind Faith Has Died.
GINGER BAKER Peter Edward “Ginger” Baker (19 August 1939 – 6 October 2019) was an English drummer and a co-founder of the rock band Cream. His work in the 1960s and 1970s earned him the reputation of “rock’s first superstar drummer”, for a style that melded jazz and African rhythms and pioneered both jazz fusion and world music. Baker began playing drums at age 15, and later took lessons from English jazz drummer Phil Seamen. In the 1960s he joined Blues Incorporated, where he met bassist Jack Bruce. The two clashed often, but would be rhythm section partners again in the Graham Bond Organisation and Cream, the latter of which Baker co-founded with Eric Clapton in 1966. Cream achieved worldwide success but lasted only until 1968, in part due to Baker’s and Bruce’s volatile relationship. After briefly working with Clapton in Blind Faith and leading Ginger Baker’s Air Force, Baker spent several years in the 1970s living and recording in Africa, often with Fela Kuti, in pursuit of his long-time interest in African music. Among Baker’s other collaborations are his work with Gary Moore, Masters of Reality, Public Image Ltd, Hawkwind, Atomic Rooster, Bill Laswell, jazz bassist Charlie Haden, jazz guitarist Bill Frisell and Ginger Baker’s Energy.
Each time he traveled to Africa, he would get sober temporarily only to relapse. He estimated that he stopped using heroin around 29 times during his life, but was only able to quit permanently after moving to a small Italian village in 1981 where he took up olive farming. Baker’s drumming is regarded for its style, showmanship, and use of two bass drums instead of the conventional one. In his early days, he performed lengthy drum solos, most notably in the Cream song “Toad”, one of the earliest recorded examples in rock music. Baker was an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Cream, of the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2008, and of the Classic Drummer Hall of Fame in 2016. Baker was noted for his eccentric, often self-destructive lifestyle, and he struggled with heroin addiction for many years. Baker struggled with heroin addiction throughout his life, having begun using the drug in the 1960s while a jazz drummer in London clubs. In February 2016, Baker announced he had been diagnosed with “serious heart issues” and cancelled all future gigs. Writing on his blog, he said, “Just seen doctor... big shock... no more gigs for this old drummer... everything is off... of all things I never thought it would be my heart...” On 25 September 2019, Baker’s family reported that he was critically ill in hospital, and asked fans to keep him in their prayers. While it was announced Baker was holding his own three days later, he eventually died on 6 October 2019 at the age of 80, at a hospital in Canterbury. BURNT OUT WRECK & PETE WAY BAND
BURNT OUT WRECK
BURNT OUT WRECK release their new album ‘This Is Hell’ on 11th October on Burnt Out Wreckords/Cherry Red. ‘This Is Hell’ sees the band ratcheting up the pace with this foot stomping, ball busting hard rock album that’ll give the best of them a run for their money! Quote from Gary Moat: “This is Hell, the title says it all. It’s a hard hitting, fast paced and more focused album. It’s an angry set of songs that follows on in the same vein as Swallow, but a bigger sound. It has drained me mentally and physically, made in eleven days start to finish, I cracked the whip on the entire band & they agreed it was worth it!” BIOGRAPHY Gary created BURNT OUT WRECK in the summer of 2016. After penning songs for the debut album, he ventured into the studio under the watchful eye of Steve Rispin (Asia), and with Gary’s determination to create good time classic rock, the album ‘SWALLOW’ took shape and was released early 2017. After plenty of promotion and hard work touring the UK, the band returned to the studio to record the follow up, ‘This Is Hell’, a fierce, hard rocking album with a heavy punch and one that sees the band take a big leap forward. Gary has a colourful history as the drummer and main songwriter for Heavy Pettin’, but for BURNT OUT WRECK he has traded the drum stool for the microphone and has a hugely talented band playing alongside him. Gary’s vocal style developed in Mother’s Ruin, the band that rose from the ashes of Heavy Pettin’ in 1991 but in 2014, he shut the that band down in favour of song writing. BURNT OUT WRECK’S inception was unexpected but welcome! ROCK AINT DEAD....

“Moat proves that neither he nor his band mates live up their moniker, but are a re-energised musical force” —UBER ROCK “These guys play a raunchy, groove laden melodic rock sound. Drawing on the recently released album, Moat demonstrated why these guys merit a shot on the bigger stage with his superb voice”. —ROCKPOSER “Classic 80’s style classic rock at its best with these guys”. —MYGLOBALMIND

RIK FOX PRESS RELEASE; FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. OCTOBER 5, 2019
The premier West Coast DEEP PURPLE Tribute Band, CHILD IN TIME, would like you to help them welcome former STEELER, SIN and W.A.S.P. bassist RIK FOX into their new bassist position! Originally formed in 2017, by original bassist Tom ‘Slick’ Donovan, and filling in for the recently departed Donovan, Fox recently sat in, in an unofficial capacity, for a couple of great performances ultimately led to the unanimous, slam dunk decision being made to have Rik join the team. CHILD IN TIME currently consists of: Lead Singer Donald Dean who’s mostly known worldwide for his debut album NIGHTSHIFT in which he wrote all the songs and performed all the guitar work, vocals, plus produced the album. The album is considered a Melodic Rock classic. Donald has performed and or recorded with many platinum artists including Mick Fleetwood, Vince Neil, and The Knack. Guitarist/Vocals Steven Thachuk has a DMA in music and is a world class classical guitarist who performs solo and concerts with an orchestra throughout the world. Steven enjoys recreating Richie Blackmore guitar sound note for note. Keyboardist James Dorsa has a DMA in harpsichordist and is a well known composer. James brings Jon Lords keyboard parts to life with exquisite flare. Drummer/Vocalist Howard Roth formally a member of Tattoo Mood and Stormkro is a prog/fusion drummer (who’s jammed with the likes of legendary Jazz and R&B guitarist Cornell Dupree). Pouring out the best of the classic Deep Purple cuts, CHILD IN TIME has been gaining steady ground and great notice, and acknowledgement from Deep Purple fans everywhere. It is their contention that what Fox brings to the table, was the missing puzzle piece to complete the picture. In other recent 2019 achievements, Rik Fox a highly endorsed (see hash tags) recently secured an endorsement deal with SOLA Custom Guitars, who are currently in the process of creating his Rik Fox Signature Model bass which promises to be a knock-out, based on his Polish military ancestry! Moreover, among his exciting resume’ and career achievements, with legends such as Ronnie James Dio, Sam Kinison, Mark St. John, and Little Steven Van Zant and Mighty Max Weinberg, Rik was also among the top-tier industry recording artists to record on the recent 2019 album release “The London Fog” by Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Award Winner Jim Crean, joining such legends as Carmine and Vinny Appice, Frank DiMino, Rudy Sarzo, Tony Franklin, Chris Holmes, Mitch Perry and Mike Tramp to name a few. Rik Fox is now the bottom end Thunder of the West Coast’s CHILD IN TIME Deep Purple Tribute rhythm section, and, as always, taking stages by storm. If you love your Classic Deep Purple hard and heavy, please RUN, don’t walk, and “Like” their Facebook page https://www. facebook.com/DEEPPURPLELA/and their Instagram @childintimeband. Don’t forget to get out to all of CHILD IN TIME upcoming concert shows!
“With the support of Prudential Music Group, I was able to make a record of a lifetime. The old-school approach chosen felt fresh and new, magic of music never gets old. Recording and mixing in analog made this repertoire feel natural and genuine. You can touch and feel the s would have ever dreamed that at this point in my life I would have the opportunity to create, collaborate on, and record such a diverse piec and have it available on vinyl. After fifty years at the heart of the music industry, it is nothing short of a miracle that as a result of playing an with the brilliance of my band, I feel as enthusiastic about The Toledo Sessions as I did about Mountain’s Climbing! And Nantucket Sleighri half a century ago. I have been very lucky in my career to work with many of the greats. I must say that Mark Mikel and Chris Shutters are tw creative and talented musicians I have ever had the privilege and honor to perform and record with. This particular repertoire feels & sound I’ve always dreamed of visiting. After 50 years of recording, I feel like I have finally arrived” says Corky Laing.
Renown Touring/Studio Drummer and Managing Partner of Prudential Music Group, Jason Hartless states, “After Corky being my drum me was starting my career off, it is a real full circle moment for me to be executive producer on this project. As a long time Mountain fan, I was away when I heard the first rough mixes and knew this record needed to be heard by all classic rock fans.” Toledo Sessions is available on CD and Limited Edition Orange Vinyl at the following locations: Management & Network: Tuija Takala at politebystander@gmail.com • http://www.corkylaingworks.com • https://www.facebook.com/corkylaing • http://www.prudentialrecords.com/ • https://music.apple.com/us/album/toledo-sessions/1479634545 Link to Rouge Records for the CD and Vinyl http://www.rougerecordco.com/toledosessions.html

Here’s what people are saying about the record! “The king of the cowbell has just proved that he is the king of keeping hard rock alive. The Corky Laing Toledo Sessions takes us classic rock enthusiasts all back to a time when music shaped our lives and Rock was the sculptor..” Kory Priest, Heads Up Radio “Corky Laing had done it! He has taken us all back to the Mountain Climbing / Nantucket sleigh-ride era with the vibe and groove on the Toledo Sessions record. Led by Philadelphia’s Tim Showalter, will release its new album ‘Hard Love’ on February 17 on Dead Oceans. On the highly anticipated follow up to 2014’s ‘HEAL’, Showalter confronts the struggle between overindulgence and accountability; while he yearns for rock ‘n’ roll transcendence, he is also forced to confront the damage that pursuit inevitably imposes on his loved ones. With help from producer Nicolas Vernhes (The War on Drugs, Spoon) and guitarist Jason Anderson, ‘Hard Love’ harnesses Showalter’s unrelenting energy and channels it into nine of the most incendiary, ambitious songs in Strand Of Oaks’ discography.

Sounds
Sounds was a UK weekly pop/rock music newspaper, published from 10 October 1970 to 6 April 1991. It was produced by Spotlight Publications (part of Morgan Grampian), which was set up by Jack Hutton and Peter Wilkinson, who left Melody Maker to start their own company. Sounds was their first project, a weekly paper devoted to progressive rock and described by Hutton, to those he was attempting to recruit from his former publication, as “a leftwing Melody Maker”. Sounds was intended to be a weekly rival to titles such as Melody Maker and New Musical Express(NME). It was well known for giving away posters in the centre of the paper (initially black and white, but colour from late 1971) and later for covering heavy metal (especially the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) and Oi! music in its late 1970s–early 1980s heyday.
Sounds contributors included, among many others, Garry Bushell (British newspaper columnist, rock music journalist, television presenter, author, musician and political activist), Geoff Barton (founder of Kerrang!) Ross Halfin (British rock and roll photographer who began his career working for Sounds magazine in the 1970s, shooting various artists on the punk scene including The Clash, The Jam, The Sex Pistols, 999 and The Adverts. After linking up with writers Geoff Barton and Peter Makowski, Halfin moved on to working mainly in the US with bands such as UFO, Rush, AC/DC, Journey, Aerosmith and Black Sabbath.)

PAUL KOSSOFF Paul Kossoff, best known as the bluesy, soulful guitarist from 1970s band Free, died on 19 March, 1976, aged just 25.Mr Kossoff’s band produced one of the biggest rock anthems of the 20th century in All Right Now. This track and the album it was taken from – Fire and Water – propelled the group to rock stardom. Born (14 September 1950 – 19 March 1976) the son of British actor David Kossoff, he was not one to shy away from the showbiz lifestyle and picked up the guitar at a young age. By his mid teens he was playing in the band Black Cat Bones alongside drummer Simon Kirk and supporting the likes of Fleetwood Mac. Wielding his Les Paul Gibson and aged just 17, he and Kirk teamed up with singer Paul Rodgers and bassist Andy Fraser and formed Free.It wasn’t until the band’s third album – 1968’s Tons of Sobs and 1969’s Free received muted acclaim – that the band became household names and were propelled into the big time. Response to the fourth album Highway, however, was once again minimal and the band broke up and, briefly, pursued other projects. The lure of the limelight was too much to bear and in 1972 the quartet got back together, albeit briefly, and recorded the album Free at Last. Kossoff’s drug problem, however, was all too apparent, leading Fraser to quit the band and rendering Kossoff unable to tour their final album, Heartbreaker, in 1973. Free were finally finished for good, but, despite his addiction and increasingly poor health, Mr Kossoff swiftly produced two albums as Back Street Crawler and continued to play until tragedy struck. In 1975 his heart stopped while at a drug rehab clinic, although he was revived. Less than a year later, while flying between Los Angeles and New York Mr Kossoff suffered the heart attack which killed him. Despite his tender years Mr Kossoff and Free had attracted a loyal fanbase and several posthumous works were released. During his career he gained the respect of many big names and often worked as a session musician for many of the big names of the day. Viewed by: 2222 visitors. IRON MAIDEN’s DAVE MURRAY
Talks About His 1957 Kossoff Fender Stratocaster Guitar May 7, 2008 | Gear-Monkey.com Gear-Monkey.com reports: “There’s a little bit of history behind the guitar,” says veteran IRON MAIDEN guitarist Dave Murray of the 1957 Strat he used to produce the wailing sounds heard on each of MAIDEN’s first eight albums. “It used to belong to Paul Kossoff of FREE. I bought it in 1976, a year after he died. I saw it advertised in an English magazine called Melody Maker, and I went down and checked it out. I got the serial numbers to make sure that it was his guitar! “He used that guitar on a lot of FREE. I actually saw him many years ago using it during a FREE performance of ‘My Brother Jake’ on an English television show called ‘Top of the Pops’. They were one of my favorite bands, and I had to have that guitar because it belonged to Kossoff. “I paid about $1,400 for it, which in 1976 was quite a bit of money. But I didn’t care. I just sold everything I had so I could get it. And I used it from then on.
It just felt like I was holding a piece of magic, because he used this guitar.” Aside from replacing the original Fender pickups with DiMarzio humbuckers (“to fatten up the sound a bit”), Murray did nothing to alter the maple-neck, blackand-white guitar. “I used it on tour,” he continues. “It was my main guitar, and I played everything with it: lead and rhythm, clean stuff, heavy stuff. It was real versatile.” Nevertheless, Murray gave his trusty Stratocaster an honorable discharge from active duty several years ago. “I used to guard it with my life,” he says. “But it did start to get a little knocks in it just from general wear and tear. So I decided to retire it. It’s sitting in my mother’s house now, though I do pick it up now and again.”

Dave Murray performing in San José, Costa Rica, 26 February 2008 He has used Fender Stratocaster guitars almost exclusively. His black 1957/63 (the body is from a ‘63; the neck from a ‘57) Stratocaster, previously owned by late Free guitarist Paul Kossoff, was used approximately between 1978 and 1990. It was used as a template by Fender to manufacture an Artist Signature model in 2009. The original now resides at his mother’s home. “I bought it in 1976,” he said. “I saw it advertised in Melody Maker… I got the serial number to check it was [Kossoff’s] guitar. It cost quite a bit of money but I didn’t care. I just sold everything I had so I could get it, and I used it from then on. It just felt like I was holding a piece of magic because he had used this guitar. This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 Generic license.
Gone to Dave Murray After Paul’s death his Strat somehow ended up on sale through an English magazine called Melody Maker. It attracted attention of Dave Murray, who at the time was about to be auditioned for Iron Maiden. He paid around $1,500 for the guitar, and went on to record most of the early stuff he did with Iron Maiden using it as his main axe. Even though Dave supposedly checked the serial numbers for accuracy of the previous ownership, the guitar somehow didn’t feature a white finish anymore, but was painted in black and featured two DiMarzio Super Distortion humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. The body was also allegedly dated to early 60s, which would mean that the guitar was actually a Part-caster... Dave McCausland Says: In relation to the Stratocaster guitar once owned by Kossoff and now in the hands of Dave Murray, the image you have linked (above) to isn’t the Strat that was once Kossoff’s. The one you have pictured is a back up guitar Dave used in the early 80’s Maiden tours as back up to the Kossoff Strat. The Kossoff Strat is in fact the Black with Maple neck model he is widely photographed playing right up until the early 90’s and the one that Fender based their Dave Murray Signature Stratocaster on. In terms of the pick up modifications, I’m sure Dave did do the mods with the DiMarzio Super Distrortions/PAF’s etc. to the guitar to achieve his signature sound. He still uses a similar set up in his modern guitars but uses single coil sized humbuckers by Seymour Duncan. Paul Kossoff’s Guitar Amps:
In the early days of Free Paul seemed to have used a 1967 Marshall JTM45/100s (mostly known just as JTM100) – as seen on the photos from the booklet of “Tons of Sobs” album. The amp is easily recognizable by the reverse JTM block logo, which is the reason why it’s also known as the “Black Flag”. He played the amp through a cabinet that he allegedly built with his father sometime during the Black Cat Bones era. When Free went on their first tour Paul started using Marshall Super Lead 100w 1959 played through Marshall cabinets equipped with G12H speakers. Later on he mostly used Marshall Super PAs (as seen during the Isle of Wight gig in 1970), but he was also seen using Super Bass heads. Also worth noting is that he allegedly used a Selmer Treble and Bass Fifty on the band’s biggest hit “All Right Now” from the third album. If so, that amp probably pre-dates his first Marshall, and it is somewhat safe to believe that Paul bought it while working at Selmer’s music shop in late 60s. Other amps that he used include a Fender Super Reverb combo that was mostly seen just on some photos taken during studio sessions of the early albums, and an Orange amp that he used on a gig played during a show called “Beat Club” which aired on German television.
Paul Kossoff’s Guitar Effects:
PHOTO (bottom left) Bill Barclay RCL-Q- We at RCL first met Mr Barclay on an Iron Maiden tour in the UK in 1988. If we remember correctly, you were a guitar tech for Adrian or Dave. Which was it. How did you start your illustrious career in the music biz Bill? I started with bands of my own in the mid-sixties in Scotland. I was the lead vocalist in The Hush-Hush, The Mad and The Churston Deckle Blues Band. We used to do weekend gigs in local village halls and working-men’s clubs. That led on to working with some local Scottish east coast bands as their roadie such as the Blackhawks and Macbeth Periscope (opened for The Move and Fleetwood Mac). It was the days of the west coast pop art bands like the Chocolate Watch Band, Jefferson Airplane and Greatful Dead. READ FULL ARTICLE
Paul pretty much preferred straight approach, meaning that he didn’t use any effects apart from the overdrive built into his amps. There is one photo of him standing right next to a MXR Phase 90 pedal during a gig, but it was probably not something he used on a regular basis.
Paul Kossoff’s Guitar Strings:
Paul allegedly used Gibson Sonomatics for the three heavier strings, a really heavy unwound banjo string for the fourth, and a couple of heavy strings from a .013 set of Fender Rock n Rollers for the first and the second.
Paul Kossoff’s Guitar Picks:
We haven’t found anything specific on the type of picks that he used, but it is safe to believe that they were on the heavier side. Based on the photos and general availability in the 70s, he mostly most likely played with Herco 75s. https://www.groundguitar.com/paul-kossoff-guitars-and-gear/
59 Les Paul into a Marshall head. But what Marshall head exactly, and did he really use a Marshall?
First, many say that Koss preferred Marshall Super Bass heads, though he apparently also used Super Leads and Super PAs. Super Basses and Super Leads supposedly were largely the same (as was the Super PA), and at the time many Marshalls were one-offs – basically the same, but different components here and there. Ecco la Burst: Paul Kossoff’s Les Pauls He owned several ’50s and ’60s Les Pauls, notably a ‘59 burst stripped to a natural finish (in the video linked to below), and a ‘58 he got in a trade with Eric Clapton: Koss traded a 1957 black Les Paul Custom for it. All apparently had high action and heavy strings (11s and/or 12s), and he is rumored to have used heavy picks.

Review By: My Shadow 5.0 out of 5 stars Time Away April 30, 2008 Format: Audio CDVerified Purchase For any fan of Koss this a must. During the sessions for John Martyn’s song ‘May You Never’, Koss and Martyn worked a number of grooves, they are sonic kindred spirits, and the fruits of one of those jams is ‘Time Away’...The fluid jamming on ‘Time Away’ never falters. It is one of the most amazingly organic interplays between two guitarist I have heard. John Martyn provides Koss with the atmospherics to shimmer his way through a 38 minute jam that ends in the most exquisite extemporaneous jams recorded. Around the 19 minute mark Koss stings a single note that would have signaled the end of the jam, Martyn percolated another groove and Kirke and Tetsu work it, and Koss weaves his way in again, starts
to feel another melodic direction, in around the 28 minute mark, you can hear the melody seethe from his axe, this all builds to the final 7 minutes that gave us ‘Time Away’ on the original album. All four of these musicians are having the blessing of being played by the music and we are lucky to have the tape running. I have loved this piece for 40 years and it is worth the wait to have the whole thing. Get It. RIP Koss. and Thank You

Read the full twisted history of the “All Right Now” Les Paul at Guitar Player magazine. Christopher Scapelliti Updated: Nov 15, 2017, Original: Nov 11, 2015 All the news about John Lennon’s Gibson J-160E taking $2.4 million at auction has overshadowed another guitar that will go on the auction block next month: a 1959 Gibson Les Paul formerly owned by the late Paul Kossoff, guitarist with Free. Kossoff was a Les Paul player, a guitar whose tone can be heard all over the group’s 1970 hit “All Right Now.” In particular, he was the owner of a 1959 Les Paul, an instrument that he treasured but nonetheless battered when performing live with it. On one particularly disastrous occasion, at Free’s packed gig at the Mayfair Ballroom on October 20, 1972, Kossoff threw the guitar high in the air in a moment of exhilaration but failed to catch it. “It went up about 20 feet and came down on its neck,” Kossoff told Steve Rosen in an interview from Guitar Player’s July 1976 issue.

Free were an English rock band formed in London in 1968, best known for their 1970 signature song “All Right Now”. They disbanded in 1973 and lead singer Paul Rodgers went on to become the frontman of the band Bad Company, which also featured his Free bandmate Simon Kirke on drums. Lead guitarist Paul Kossoff formed Back Street Crawler in 1975, but died from a pulmonary embolism at the age of 25 in 1976. Bassist Andy Fraser formed Sharks. Free became renowned for their live shows and non-stop touring. However, their studio albums did not sell very well until their third, Fire and Water, featured the massive hit “All Right Now”. The song helped secure them a place at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970, where they played to 600,000 people.[4] In the early 1970s, Free became one of the biggest-selling British blues rock groups; by the time they disbanded, they had sold more than 20 million albums around the world and had played more than 700 arena and festival concerts. “All Right Now” remains a rock staple and has been entered in ASCAP’s “One Million” airplay singles club. Rolling Stone has referred to the band as “British hard rock pioneers”. The magazine ranked Rodgers No. 55 in its list of the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time”, while Kossoff was ranked No. 51 in its list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”. Free were signed to Island Records in the UK and A&M Records in North America. Both labels became part of the PolyGram group in 1989, then Universal Music Group (UMG) in 1998; UMG now controls the band’s catalogue worldwide.

RON E. KAYFIELD Ron is a founding member of the Chrysalis Records group ‘Waysted’ with Pete Way. Kayfield’s song writing talent scored 2 hits in Europe, Germany and Japan. Their video ‘Love Loaded’ received air play on MTV. Waysted toured the UK and Europe with Ronnie James Dio and the U.S. with Ozzy and Motley Crue, the start of Ozzfest. During Fragile, he worked at a local music store, MacLaren’s Music, where he started to earn a good reputation as a repairman of stringed instruments. For extra cash, Ron would use his connection to go backstage at concerts to sell collectible guitars to famous musicians. This is when he met the members of UFO, Cheap Trick and Ozzy. During an Ozzy/UFO tour in 1982 Ron was asked to demonstrate a guitar for Ozzy that he wanted to buy for Brad Gillis, his guitarist after Randy’s untimely death. (Ozzy loved buying guitars for his guitar players.) Ron already knew and performed Ozzy/Randy songs from the club days with Fragile and Ozzy was impressed with Ron’s playing because Ron reminded him of Randy. In 1992 Ron and Marsha purchased the music store “MacLaren’s” and changed the name to Arpeggio. They began a successful career repairing guitars and hand making their own line of guitars under the name Arpeggio Korina Guitars. During this time Ron was so busy with the store repair business and hand making guitars that his personal guitar sat in the case because he didn’t have the time to play it. After eight years of being tied to the store he felt it was time to start playing again and called some friends. In 2003 Ron decided to form another Led Zeppelin tribute band Get The Led Out. In GTLO, Ron duplicated Jimmy Page’s performance right down to the violin bow and theremine, exciting audiences everywhere they performed, selling out such venues as The Keswick Theater, Sellersville Theater, Colonial Theater and Penns Peak. Ron had formed so many Zep bands over the years that he craved versatility and left. Ron had been thinking about creating a new show for a long time performing a Guitar Legends show, which would feature not only Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page, but also his other favorites such as Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen and ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons. $9.95 HAWK ALBUM SOLD AT:
ALBUM ARTWORK & DESIGN BY LONDA R. MARKS
HAWK Written By Londa R. Marks, a founder of HAWK | July 2016 In the mid 1980’s Ahmet Ertegun, co-founder and president of Atlantic Records was considering signing popular Hollywood, California glam rock band HAWK to Atlantic Records. Just at that time turmoil within the band began and ultimately everything disintegrated due to money issues and personal differences.
HAWK was founded by and sponsored by Londa R. Marks and Doug Marks. HAWK band lineup was Doug Marks (Metal Method guitar instructor, guitarist), Scott Travis (drums, Judas Priest), Lonnie Vencent (bass, BulletBoys & King Kobra), Charles Morrill (vocals). HAWK album included David Fefolt (vocals), Matt Sorum (drums, Guns ‘N Roses, Velvet Revolver, Hollywood Vampires, Motorhead), Dave Tolly & Steve Ayola

Originally mastered at Greg Fulginiti, Artisan Sound Records, Hollywood. The Hawk album was recorded in 1986 as a Doug Marks solo project after the original band dissolved earlier that year. Being signed to Atlantic Records may have been a good thing, but maybe
not; 30 years later, a HAWK album is at least still being sold by one of the original HAWK artists, Doug Marks, as digital download or compact disk. If Atlantic Records had signed the band, possibly a lot of money/fame/artistic validation would have happened with HAWK but also possibly no money would have been made for the artists. In some cases however, selling your own albums can give you control over what you earn..

NOTE:
Keep in mind, Monero is an alt coin, and more complicated than Bitcoin and not as valuable. Thus, you are more reliant on someone like the record company who knows how to work with Monero if you accept it. You can always trade Bitcoin for Monero but Bitcoin is king. They say Monero is more private than Bitcoin but it is not really. The same for ZCash. Unlike Monero, you can get Zcash at coinbase.com.
