Interview With Mick James Rock Legend News: What has been your approach to achieving success in the music and entertainment industry? Mick James: I have had a “build it they will come” attitude. I believed I would be successful even when it looked black & things were going no where. I never gave up or listened to any doubters with negative attitudes. I made sure if there was an opening I would be ready to fill it. This is a tough business, no one does anything for those who don’t do for themselves. These days the industry only gets behind people who are already self made & making waves & fans on their own. Then they will want to work with you. So I took it into my own hands to get where I am & make shit happen… Rock Legend News: Your new release entitled: Mick James is Dead is highly controversial since you are not dead. How did you come up with that title and what was the creative thought process? Mick James: Me & a friend of mine were trying to think of a title for my new project. Since I was now a solo artist playing all the instruments on the CD & fronting it as a lead singer. It was agreed my name should be in the title. He said, you should call it Mick James Is Dead. We joked about it & as i thought about it, it kind of freaked me out. I mean after all I am Mick James! But left the studio & slep on it. When I woke up it hit me like a ton of bricks! Suddenly all these song titles & lyrics were coming out of me like water. On the side of the pages I was writing what I though would be a stage show. But quickly realized I was writing a movie script. From that point on I was on auto pilot. All the songs were fueling the script & it became a multimedia thing as apposed to just a CD. It is very controversial in the sense of all I have been doing to create the images for the CD art & video clips/movie teasers. Filming in actual Grave yards, doing photo shoots in an actual coffin in a real funeral home. That just so happens to be the funeral home I really will be brought to when I do die since it’s in my home town! I looked to the sky & assured God I was not tempting fate as I lay in the coffin for a few hrs while photos & video were being shot. But it was ROCK LEGEND NEWS

when I was asked by the Funeral director if I would like to shoot some photos on the embalming table that it got weird. I said “yes I’d love to”. Her Reply? “Ok give us 10 minutes to clean up the dead body on it.” Ha, yes I did go through with it & we got some amazing pics. But Im not gonna say it wasn’t creepy as fuck! Needless to say there was no turning back at this point. Now that the CD is out & the script for the movie is done. We will be out there touring & Im looking forward to getting the movie end of it going as well. It’s an amazing dark fantasy of a story. I will star in the movie & be acting it out on stage, at 1st a very skeleton budget stage show. But as things progress it will get more elaborate... Rock Legend News: Having worked extensively with Criss Angel, there is obviously a good chemistry between you two. What do you think you both reflect to each other? ick James: Well, we did create some M amazing visuals accompanied by very
original music together. Criss had a big dream & a very original way of reinventing magic & making it cool again. He achieved that 10 times over with an edgy look unlike the suit wearing David Copperfield’s before him. So I see him as a visionary that made his dreams come true & had the concept of using edgy music behind it all. I am the one who filled that concept & in a sense created the soundtrack to his fame. Mixing Electronic & Middle Eastern music with heavy 7 string guitar riffs. Writing moods & emotions with the music to heighten his visual. So for me, he is a symbol that I too can make my dreams a reality. To him I see myself filling a need he had to a very big piece of his puzzle called Success… Rock Legend News: As a multi-talented artist you have many accomplishments behind you. Is there anything you haven’t done that you want to? Mick James: Sell a few million CD’s would be nice lol. Win an Emmy or Grammy ha, Or both! That wouldn’t suck haha. But I have so many aspirations its a very wide spectrum. I’d like to write & produce for all
Rick James Songs on Rotation Wednesdays 6pm - 8pm EST & Saturdays 4pm - 6pm EST at The Mental Metal Show hosted by DjMetalGod EricSadorf at the RockOfHouse. Listen Here with Mick James. Criss Angel Believe was the sixth Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas, which was premiered at the beLIEve theatre inside the Luxor hotel in Las Vegas in 2008. It is a theatrical production created in partnership of Cirque du Soleil and magician Criss Angel, who is billed as the “co-writer, illusions creator and designer, original concept creator and star” of the show. The show had its final performance on April 17, 2016, being replaced by Criss Angel MINDFREAK LIVE on May 11 of the same year. PAGE 6 ROCK LEGEND NEWS
types of artists. Not just Rock bands but Pop, R&B & Hip hop artist as well. Do a lot more movie writing & acting. I also have plans to create TV shows & do the sound tracks to them. The world is wide open & the possibilities are endless... Rock Legend News: Your Official Facebook Fan Page has over 36,000 LIKES. What do you think your fans like the most about you? Mick James: Well I’d like to think my music but Im not that naive haha. I think there are a few ladies that follow me regardless of the music LOL. I do get a lot of mail from fans saying I gave them inspiration to pursue their career. Or I gave them advise that helped them progress & thats always so great to hear. Im also very hands on with all my fans. I think the fact that I actually talk to them & answer back whenever possible is something Im appreciated for. Im very down to earth, I hate public figures that look down on people. But dont get it twisted I can be quite the charming bastard as well haha. Im a pretty funny fucker from time & always have a very positive attitude. I see myself as a fan too. I have my musical heros who inspired me. I never forget that & realize that to some, Im looked at in that light. It’s humbling, were all just dreamers in one way or another. It’s crazy to know I can make someone happy by meeting them or signing a CD so I never take that for granted...
chose to step out on a limb. Had a plan & were blind sighted to any opsticles. They didn’t care what people thought of them & never looked back. Musically Im also influenced by so many different styles ranging from the Beatles to NIN & Korn. I love it all so I do it all, but for me as an artist Im a Rocker threw & threw... Rock Legend News: Do you have plans to tour Europe any time soon? Mick James: We will be doing a bunch of smaller shows to get our stage legs since it is a new band & no shows are scheduled just yet. But yes soon enough! I have toured in Germany, Holland, Czech Republic, Poland & Belgium with a previous band. Im excited to get back to Europe with this project as a solo artist & hit all the countries I didn’t get to tour in including Italy. Being an Italian American Im looking forward to finally getting there there.. uled just yet. But yes soon enough!
