UFO's Pete Way reflects on the decade of decadence he spent with Ozzy Osbourne By Pete Way/Paul Rees April 27, 2017 Classic Rock Magazine In this exclusive extract from his forthcoming autobiography, A Fast Ride Out Of Here, the former UFO bassist looks back on the wild times he shared with Ozzy “In total we did 45 arena shows with Ozzy and the Crüe. Each one was a sell-out…that tour has since attained a somewhat legendary reputation that has more to do with what went on offstage than on. After Randy Rhoads died, Ozzy Osbourne began to search for a new permanent guitar player for his solo project. Ozzy went to Los Angeles and began to audition players. It was then that Vinnie Vincent / Slaughter bassist Dana Strum recommended Lee to Osbourne. Strum was also the same person who recommended Randy Rhoads to Ozzy. Eventually, Ozzy’s choices came down to two guitarists, George Lynch from Dokken, and
Jake E. Lee. Jake was chosen and began to play for Ozzy in late 1982, along with Don Airey, Tommy Aldridge, and
Pete Way. The first Ozzy album featuring Jake E. Lee was entitled, “Bark at the Moon”. Once the album was released it soon became a commercial success. In late 1983, they set out to promote the album with a worldwide tour. Motley Crue and Pete Way’s (UFO) Waysted both appeared as opening acts on the “Bark at the Moon” tour. Reference

POSTING ON KNAC FACEBOOK JAN 8, 2019
RIP Magazine & KNAC On January 8, 1992 YNGWIE MALMSTEEN released his 6th studio album, FIRE & ICE. The success of grunge in late 1991 left many ‘80s metal guitarists out of work, and Yngwie Malmsteen was no exception. After leaving Polydor, he signed with Elektra and released the 14-track (and one-hour-plus) Fire & Ice. The album is a bit more diverse than his previous recordings, but that was probably done in an effort to get more radio play (unsuccessfully). Despite the fact that the neo-classical tracks are every bit as innovative as his earlier work, the new alternative rock movement proved to be too strong to overcome, and Elektra dropped him after only one release. ANGELES Press Release announcement: “New ANGELES bassist Rik Fox will reunite with Steeler vocalist Ron Keel in a very special multi-presentation KEEL celebration package, which will include a short tribute to the legendary Los Angeles cornerstone, seminal heavy metal band STEELER, which is to include legendary guitarist Mitch Perry. Rik isn’t leaving ANGELES, rather, just joining some old friends for something special for the fans, and has been sitting on this secret since early 2018, sworn to secrecy until now.” MORE INFO > Amended excerpts from the Ron Keel Press Release, Details as follows... Greetings to our People! Below is today’s big announcement from EMP Label Group... “A major highlight of 2019 will be KEELFest, May 10th in Columbus, Ohio - a two-and-a-half-hour show paying homage to Keel’s historic catalog, including performances from the classic Keel lineup of Marc Ferrari, Bryan Jay, and Dwain Miller, a full set from the Ron Keel Band (Dave “DC” Cothern, Geno “El Diablo” Arce, Jeff “The Rev” Koller and Dakota Scott Schmitt) and a special segment paying tribute to legendary Keel-fronted 80’s Hollywood metal band Steeler. New ANGELES Bassist Rik Fox, who played on the historic Steeler album, will join Ron Keel and renowned guitar hero Mitch Perry, who took Yngwie Malmsteen’s place in the band in 1983. Perry, now with glam-rock legends The Sweet, has also toured and recorded with MSG, Cher, Johnny Winter, Lita Ford and many others. Perry also made a guest appearance on Keel’s 1986 album “The Final Frontier” and has been a member of the Steeler/Keel family for 35 years. KEELFest: Columbus 2019 will take place at the Alrosa Villa and is being promoted by Tong Productions, LLC. A special After Party Pass is available, so fans can have the unique opportunity to meet - and get their photo taken – with all three bands at once in the venue after the show’s conclusion. The ticket link is online at http://ronkeel.com. “It’s a great way to keep the Keel reunion going while promoting the new Ron Keel Band album,” Ron said. “And the Steeler segment is really special because that’s a piece of metal history, and I think the fans will be excited to see Rik, Mitch and I playing those songs on stage again for the first time in 35 years. It’s gonna be a long night, the show is almost three hours…and then one hell of a party when it’s over.” MORE INFO >

Following Udo Dirkschneider’s departure from Accept in 1987, he formed his own band called U.D.O. a German heavy metal band founded by lead vocalist Udo Dirkschneider in 1987. In 1996, Dirkschneider returned to U.D.O., with Stefan Kaufmann, now undertaking guitar duties, with guitarist Jürgen Graf and bassist Fitty Wienhold from Bullet hired as new members, and Stefan Schwarzmann returning to the band. They took part in the 1997 compilation album A Tribute to Judas Priest: Legends of Metal, in which they recorded the song “Metal Gods”. On 19 September 2018, Fitty Wienhold announced his departure from U.D.O. He stated in a video message saying that he would remain with the band if needed, “as a songwriter, as a friend, as an advisor...whatever.” Ref

text JON WIEDERHORN October 9, 2018 Many metal bands — from Black Sabbath to Mastodon — have had windows in their history during which they’ve created their greatest and most complementary albums, records that make up defining bodies of work, not just individual statement of intent. Slayer are no exception. Between 1986’s Reign in Blood and 1990’s Seasons in the Abyss, the band crafted its three most sinister, hook-laden and timeless releases, earning them their reputation as the sickest, fastest and most brutal group in thrash’s Big 4. Seasons in the Abyss wasn’t meant to be the completion of a trilogy. Yet, from its distinctive sound, compositional structure and biblical cover art, Seasons in the Abyss — the third Slayer LP produced by Rick Rubin — in many ways completes a three-part masterpiece along with its predecessors Reign in Blood and South of Heaven. Indeed, sonically, it stands as almost a perfect hybrid of Reign’s speedy savagery and South’s dark, dirgey atmospheres. Much like Metallica’s Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets and …And Justice for All, Slayer’s late-Eighties albums form a natural tryptic and represent the creative high point of the band’s career.

Kirk McKim Guitarist Boxmasters, Pat Travers November 3, 2018 “While flipping through Instagram this morning, I noticed a lot of really good guitar players. Technically flawless, every style imaginable, Never ending solos. I hate to show my age. But the guitar players that we grew up with wrote songs. They didn’t write songs as a vehicle for a guitar solo. The Solo was just to enhance what was already existing. Being that everything is so momentary now, it’s like a flash with no longevity or substance. I’m not downplaying these guitar players ability and I don’t think I’m that great of a songwriter. I know they put a lot of practice in and lots of metronome time. But I’d like to see some cats that right songs that stick with you. Rant over! Love you”

[US, acid psych/hard prog 1966-76] This is the incredible story of Uther Pendragon: a lost psychedelic band from San Francisco whose music has remained buried until now. Formed in the Bay Area in 1966 as a teen garage group called Blue Fever, Uther Pendragon lasted from 1966 until 1978. During that time, the band went through different names and phases, as their music evolved from garage to psychedelia to hard-rock: they were known as Blue Fever, Timne, Hodological Mandala, Mandala, Kodiac, Justus, Pendragon…but the core of the band remained always the same: Mark Lightcap (rhythm guitar, vocals),
Bruce Marelich (lead guitar, vocals) and Martin Espinosa (bass, vocals) who after finding their ultimate drummer on Mike Beers, finally settled on the Uther Pendragon name in the early 70s.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY For Love or Money 1972 “I’ll Do It All Again”
LISTEN >
After a stint with The Boston Tea Party lead guitarist Michael Stevens began looking for another project. Perhaps inspired by Capitol Records’ success with a power trio (e.g. Grand Funk Railroad), Stevens decided to build a hard rock trio. He eventually ended up with a line up consisting of singer/drummer Don Francisco who had previously been a member of the California-based Atlee and Crowfoot and bassist John Livingston Tunison IV had been in an outfit by the name of Manitoba Hugger (?). Stevens and company attracted the attention of managers Robert Cavallo and Joseph Rufallo who’d turned acts like Little Feat and The Weather Report into big names. The pair signed Highway Robbery to their management roster and quickly approached Bill Halverson about producing the band’s debut album. Signed by RCA Victor and teamed with Halverson in the production role, all hyperbole aside, these guys managed to write and record one of the great and overlooked hard rock albums of the 1970s. At least to my ears 1972’s “For Love or Money” is a impressive on a number of fronts. With Stevens credited with writing all eight songs, the LP wasn’t particularly original, but the band had good taste when it came to appropriating sounds. In this case their recipe borrowed liberally from bands like early Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Free, Led Zep and even a little Grand Funk bombast. Those ingredients were then mixed into something that managed to combine hard rock punch with a commercial sheen that was derivative, but still quite attractive. With the exception of a pair of radio ready power ballads which were supposedly tacked on the album when RCA executives threatened to shelve the set for lack of commercial potential, this album simply didn’t let up. Propelled by Francisco’s shrieking voice and Stevens’ hyperactive guitar, tracks like ‘Mystery Rider’, ‘Fifteen’ and ‘Lazy Woman’ (the latter one of two songs with Tunison handling lead vocals), were simply killer slices of early-1970s metal that match up well with any of the band’s better known competition. Even more impressive, these songs were tuneful and occasionally even boasted lyrics that rose above the typical ‘need-my-woman-now’ standard you’d expect from long haired freaks. At some risk to my rock credibility (big laugh), I’ll even readily adFEBRUARY 2019 ROCK LEGEND NEWS
mit that the two commercial numbers ‘All I Need (To Have Is You)’ and ‘Bells’ were both actually pretty good. Now if all of that hype didn’t capture your attention, how could you not be swayed by liner notes as sensitive and heart tugging as these: Declaration: For love or money, Highway Robbery hereby dedicates itself to roar, to drive, to sensitive joy and, above all, the emission of the highest levels of energy rock. Let it be known that Michael Stevens – lead guitarist, vocalist, writer of all material contained herein, child of a gypsy commune – carries out this pledge in the true manner of his forebears. Further be it known that he is in allegiance with Don Francisco – drummer, lead singer and a New York native whose main influences have been traditional New Orleans-based bands such as Robert Parker & the Royals and Deacon John & the Ivories; and with John Livingston Tunison IV – bassman, vocalist and painter, whose first sound memories are of Muddy Waters and B.B. King. FOR LOVE OR MONEY: signed, sealed and created by the aforementioned Highway Robbery, in this age, on this day, in the name of storming, beautiful rock and roll.

Previously unreleased underground Texas hard rock from 1975! Heavy grooves with dense, layered guitars and Deep Purple/Black Sabbath style vocals from bassist T.J. Sanders. Honest John was a band that meant business at a time when most bands were softening their sound for radio. Not these guys! Honest John did release an extremely rare 7-inch on the Baron label featuring the slinky track ‘Brighter Day’ b/w the chunky and hard driving ‘Face the Crowd’, but that was all that ever emerged from these sessions until now. This LP is pressed in a limited run of 500 copies, housed in a deluxe gatefold tip-on jacket, and sourced from the original master tapes. Honest John - Going Underground: Lost Progressive and Hard Rock Classics Vol.2 1973-75 (full album) Ottis Coleman - guitar Chuck Lewis - drums T.J. Sanders - bass, vocals Patrick Brennan - bass These sessions originated in 1974 while under contract to Baron Records out of Rosenberg, TX. A 45 single was released in 1975 but an entire album was recorded at Baron Studios and to this day has never been released. This collection represents those sessions, the 45, and alternate takes. Honest John is a band from the Houston area and the album is a collection of archival recordings from 1973-1975. Good bluesy hard rock typical of the time and place, and a good find for fans of the style. Honest John - Apologise

Album: The Entrance To Hell Hard Stuff were an English hard rock group which included John Du Cann and Paul Hammond, formerly of Atomic Rooster. Also in the line-up were vocalist Harry ‘Al’ Shaw, formerly of Curiosity Shoppe and latterly Export, and John Gustafson, formerly of Quatermass. Du Cann and Hammond had left Atomic Rooster due to disagreements with Vincent Crane over the increasingly bluesy, soulful direction in which he wanted to take that band. Consequently, compared with Atomic Rooster’s more progressive leanings, Hard Stuff were based more heavily on aggressive guitar. Originally, Du Cann, Hammond and Shaw had formed a band provisionally entitled Daemon, with the intention of eventually touring and recording under the name Atomic Rooster. Gustafson was invited to join them on that basis, but after finding out that Crane retained the rights to the Atomic Rooster name, the quartet decided to continue anyway, but under the name Bullet instead. FEBRUARY 2019 ROCK LEGEND NEWS
After recording about half an album’s worth of material together, Shaw was dismissed from the lineup and was not replaced with another frontman, his tracks being re-recorded and vocals for remaining tracks being handled by Du Cann and Gustafson, both of whom had served as lead vocalists in their prior bands. Prior to the release of their debut album, they were prompted to change their name yet again, this time to Hard Stuff, due to a legal threat from a US band also called Bullet. Hard Stuff toured across Europe, particularly in Germany and Italy, often as support to Deep Purple and Uriah Heep. Their career was curtailed by a car crash in which Du Cann and Hammond were badly injured. Although the release of a second album went ahead, the band were soon to fold. Harry ‘Al’ Shaw eventually resurfaced in the early 1980s with Liverpool-based NWOBHM band Export.

DEATH METAL LABEL SHUTS DOWN
AFTER PAYPAL, CREDIT PROCESSORS PULL OUT DUE TO DOJ, FDIC INITIATIVE Posted on January 1, 2019, 12:55 am By Billy D | READ FULL ARTICLE A wide-sweeping initiative from the United States Department of Justice back in 2013 called Operation Choke Point was initially designed to curb payment processing for “terrorist” activities, “fraudulent” purchases, and money laundering. However, according to one record label owner, the banks who have been in the news for demonetizing and deplatforming legitimate businesses over the last few months are doing so at the behest of those overseeing Operation Choke Point. It started with a Kotaku in Action thread, which notes that a death metal/black metal record label has shut down in the wake of PayPal pulling out support for processing purchases, along with the creditors at Visa and MasterCard because the company was labeled as “high risk”, “promoting hatred”, “promoting violence”, and “promoting hate speech”. In the case of Elegy Records, a label that hosted all sorts of death metal music since 1996, their closure comes from the ROCK LEGEND2019 NEWSROCK FEBRUARY 1, 2019 FEBRUARY LEGEND NEWS
inability to sign with a normal credit processor due to being “high-risk”. There are also high-risk credit processors, but it’s expensive, unreliable, and comes with no guarantees, which makes it untenable for most normal businesses. Elegy Records’ owner, Rob, told the outlet DeathMetal.org, in a piece published on December 17th, 2018, that PayPal simply said he could no longer use their services, following instigation from a website called MetalSucks, which is headed up by Matt Goldberg and Ben Umanov. The banks also abruptly cut ties with Rob as well, where he explained… “They didn’t even have the business courtesy to inform me they were going to cut ties. I came to the realization of this when I went to process an order and the response message was “Invalid Merchant account” When I spoke to a representative, they informed me they did not wish to work with me because I promoted hate. I did receive a letter from them stating they were going to end the business relationship the date of termination was a day before the letter was written and a day before it was mailed. What a great banking service.
“This was a death blow, at this point I had no means to accept any form of payments aside from cash or Money order but there is no way to survive in that business model.” According to Rob, his record label had been classified as “high risk” by the banks and credit processors, which meant that he was effectively blacklisted from the banking industry. In short, this meant that the only way to accept payments from customers was – as he mentioned – via cash or money orders. For online businesses it’s not possible to operate without some sort of banking institution, or credit card processing since all purchases are made electronically. This also recently happened to Moribund Records, as well, which DeathMetal.org reported on back on November 4th, 2018. PayPal informed Moribund Records that access to their PayPal account would be restricted due to content-related violations. The said “violations” were in relation to the record label publishing Satanic death metal, and because it has an affiliation with the Church of Satan. Instead of dropping the edgy content, Moribund Records dropped PayPal.

Just at that time turmoil within the band began and ultimately everything disintegrated due to money issues and personal differences.
HAWK was founded by and sponsored by Londa R. Marks and Doug Marks. HAWK band lineup was Doug Marks (Metal Method guitar instructor, guitarist), Scott Travis (drums, Judas Priest), Lonnie Vencent (bass, BulletBoys & King Kobra), Charles Morrill (vocals). Saturnalia Now Known as Christmas Saturnalia (1783) by Antoine Callet, showing his interpretation of what the Saturnalia might have looked like. Classical Roman religion observed by Romans Celebrations Feasting, role reversals, gift-giving, gambling Observances public sacrifice and banquet for the god Saturn; universal wearing of the Pileus Date 17–23 December
Saturnalia was an ancient Roman festival in honour of the god Saturn, held on 17 December of the Julian calendar and later expanded with festivities through to 23 December. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum, and a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying, and a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms: gambling was permitted, and masters provided table service for their slaves. A common custom was the election of a “King of the Saturnalia”, who would give orders to people and preside over the merrymaking. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigil-
laria. The poet Catullus called it “the best of days. In Roman mythology, Saturn was an agricultural deity who was said to have reigned over the world in the Golden Age, when humans enjoyed the spontaneous bounty of the earth without labour in a state of innocence. The revelries of Saturnalia were supposed to reflect the conditions of the lost mythical age. Changes to the Roman calendar moved the climax of Saturnalia to December 25th, around the time of the date of the winter solstice. Janus, God of Change & Time
Janus frequently symbolized change and transitions such as the progress of past to future, from one condition to another, from one vision to another, and young people’s growth to adulthood. He represented time, because he could see into the past with one face and into the future with the other. Hence, Janus was worshipped at the beginnings of the harvest and planting times, as well as at marriages, deaths and other beginnings. He represented the middle ground between barbarism and civilization, rural and urban space, youth and adulthood. Having jurisdiction over beginnings Janus had an intrinsic association with omens and auspices. Position in the pantheon Leonhard Schmitz suggests that he was likely the most important god in the Roman archaic pantheon. He was often invoked together with Iuppiter (Jupiter). In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus (Latin: IANVS (Iānus), is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces, since he looks to the future and to the past. It is conventionally thought that the month of January is named for Janus (Ianuarius), but according to ancient Roman farmers’ almanacs Juno was the tutelary deity of the month. Early New Year’s Celebrations The earliest recorded festivities in honor of a new year’s arrival date back some 4,000 years to ancient Babylon. For the Babylonians, the first new moon following the vernal equinox—the day in late March with an equal amount of sunlight and darkness—heralded the start of a new year. They marked the occasion with a massive religious festival called Akitu (derived from the Sumerian word for barley, which was cut in the spring) that involved a different ritual on each of its 11 days. In addition to the new year, Atiku celebrated the mythical victory of the Babylonian sky god Marduk over the evil sea goddess Tiamat and served an important political purpose: It was during this time that a new king was crowned or that the current ruler’s divine mandate was symbolically renewed. January 1 Becomes New Year’s Day The early Roman calendar consisted of 10 months and 304 days, with each new year beginning at the vernal equinox; according to tradition, it was created by Romulus, the founder of Rome, in the eighth century B.C. A later king, Numa Pompilius, is credited with adding the months of Januarius and Februarius. Over the centuries, the calendar fell out of sync with the sun, and in 46 B.C. the emperor Julius Caesar decided to solve the problem by consulting with the most prominent astronomers and mathematicians of his time. He introduced the Julian calendar, which closely resembles the more modern Gregorian calendar that most countries around the world use today. As part of his reform, Caesar instituted January 1 as the first day of the year, partly to honor the month’s namesake: Janus, the Roman god of beginnings, whose two faces allowed him to look back into the past and forward into the future. Romans celebrated by offering sacrifices to Janus, exchanging gifts with one another, decorating their homes with laurel branches and attending raucous parties. In medieval Europe, Christian leaders temporarily replaced January 1 as the first of the year with days carrying more religious significance, such as December 25 (the anniversary of Jesus’ birth) and March 25 (the Feast of the Annunciation); Pope Gregory XIII reestablished January 1 as New Year’s Day in 1582. During the late medieval period and early Renaissance, many towns in England elected a “Lord of Misrule” at Christmas time to preside over the Feast of Fools. This custom was sometimes associated with the Twelfth Night or Epiphany. What Is Bit.Tube & Why It Is Better Than YouTube
Videos on Blockchain Coinsutra
By Sudhir Khatwani In: Blockchain Last Updated:18/09/2018 The Bitcoin blockchain in its simplest form is a database or ledger comprised of Bitcoin transaction records. Blockchain is Bitcoin, Bitcoin is Blockchain. The bitcoin blockchain is a public ledger that records bitcoin transactions. It is implemented as a chain of blocks, each block containing a hash of the previous block up to the genesis block of the chain. A network of communicating nodes running bitcoin software maintains the blockchain. We all know that ‘the blockchain‘ is here to stay. And that’s why everyone is embracing it with open arms. Because when you can’t stop something, you should join it and make the most of the ride. Bit.Tube is a revolutionary, decentralized video streaming platform that puts the power back in the hands ofcreators and viewers. It is a platform where cryptocurrency solutions like BitTube (TUBE) are already integrated through which video creators can make money with their content, without ads. And not only are the payments decentralized through cryptocurrency, but the underlying database is also IPFS which is a decentralized and distributed ledger technology. That’s why there are no centralized servers hosting your video data which results in total censorship resistant video content for anyone anywhere in the world.
How Bit.Tube Works Bit.Tube uses the IPFS protocol as a data store. As a result, all data stored or retrieved via Bit.Tube is no longer stored in large data centers but distributed worldwide in the IPFS network. No country, no data protector and no company has control over this data. Once uploaded, data cannot be deleted or changed and is available to every internet user via any IPFS Gateway with a unique address (hash) worldwide. There is no censorship in the IPFS network. Bit.Tube gives users the opportunity to use this worldwide network at no cost while allowing copyright holders to monetize their media content through media mining Bit.Tube is completely browser-based and consists of 2 parts. BitTube is based in Tenerife, Spain — a tech-friendly island, and part of the Canary Islands. What Is In It For Creators & Viewers? If you ask me, there is a lot. • First of all, creators get the right to speech which will be uncensored due to the IPFS technology. • Second, creators will be able to monetize their content and earn BitTube coin in return whenever viewers see their videos. • Third, creators will get the same rate of reward irrespective of which part of the world their video content is being viewed from, unlike the YouTube ads revenue system. Tim Draper Stands by His Bitcoin Price Prediction of $250K in 2022 By Ana Alexandre Cointelegraph
Currency for world use. Send money to anyone around the world in seconds who accepts Bitcoin much cheaper than banks and no exchange fees. Venture capital investor Tim Draper reaffirmed his prediction that
the Bitcoin (BTC) price will reach $250,000 by 2022, during a panel discussion at the Web Summit summit conference Nov. 6 Draper initially predicted that the BTC price will surge up to $250,000 in April of this year. “Believe it, it’s going to happen – they’re going to think you’re crazy but believe it, it’s happening, it’s going to be awesome!,” Draper said then. When asked at the recent Web Summit conference whether he still thinks the BTC price will experience a 40 times return in a span of four years and reach $250,000, Draper said: “Yes. We are talking [...] about five percent market share to get to $250,000. That seems like a drop in a bucket and all we need to really do is make it so that Bitcoin can be used to buy Starbucks coffee, and all of a sudden the world just opens up and then they say ‘I’ve got this choice.’ [...] Do I want a currency that I can take from country to country [...] or do I want one that sticks me in one country or one geographic area and I can’t use it anywhere else?” Draper also questioned the need for fiat currencies or “political currencies,” stating “why do we even trust currencies that are determined by some weird political party or another?” In Draper’s view, banks issue money “whenever they feel like it for whatever reason they want it,” and the emergence of a “totally apolitical,” global, and open currency would cede control of money from banks to common people, he explained. In September, Draper made another prediction, saying that the total cryptocurrency market capitalization will hit $80 trillion in the next 15 years. Draper argued that the significant slide in the cryptocurrency market in previous months is attributed to people who had not adopted digital currencies as a new asset class. Draper said then: “Cryptocurrency will go after trillion dollar markets — these are finance, healthcare and insurance, banking and investment banking, and governments.” READ FULL ARTICLE HERE
