“Fact one: UFO bass player Pete Way is one the most sincere men in rock. So when Pete sa don’t think you can replace a vibe with a good sician,” or, “I think (producer) Leo Lyons caug something (in 1975) that was later embellishe Ron Nevison,” you know he bloody well me from the bottom of his stripy trousers. A fan of comedy since his youth, Rogan began a career in stand-up in August 1988 in the Boston area, developing a blue comedy act. He moved to New York City two years later. After relocating to Los Angeles in 1994, Rogan signed an exclusive developmental deal with Disney, appeared as an actor on the television sitcoms Hardball and NewsRadio, and worked in local comedy clubs. In 1997, he started working for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as an interviewer and color commentator. Rogan released his first comedy special in 2000, and has since produced seven other specials. From 2001, he has been the host of several television shows, including Fear Factor, The Man Show, and Joe Rogan Questions Everything. FREE TO SETUP AN ACCOUNT. Click For Artists tab at top of their website and watch video. Setup an account and see how other artists are using this service. It could mean you being in the studio, in a band, creating an album, and funding the process of being a professional musician. Easily sell your merchandise, guitars and artist spots on your album and live shows. PledgeMusic allows you to deliver exclusive content, updates and features to your most important asset: your fans. Success Rate PledgeMusic is reported to have a 90% campaign success rate (higher than Kickstarter or Indiegogo), with most artists raising an average 140% of their goal. How can PledgeMusic actually help? Our expert staff has years of music industry knowhow and expertise in sales, marketing, manufacturing, and fulfillment. We’ll be there to guide you every step of the way. Sounds good to me. What about fulfillment? We have a fulfillment system that will help you stay organized as you ship out your items. We can even recommend partners to take on manufacturing and fulfillment for you. That’s amazing! What does it cost? PledgeMusic takes a flat 15% fee of items sold which covers the costs of hosting and support. We only get paid if you reach your goal. PledgeMusic is an online direct-to-fan music platform, launched in August 2009, that facilitates musicians reaching out to their fanbase (termed Pledgers) to pre-sell, market, and distribute music projects including recordings, music videos, and concerts. Broadly speaking it bears some similarities to such platforms as ArtistShare, Kickstarter, Indiegogo, Patreon, RocketHub and Sellaband. Features PledgeMusic considers itself a direct-to-fan platform as opposed to a crowdfunding website. Features of PledgeMusic that distinguish it from other crowdfunding systems include that it:
• is solely focused on raising funds for musicians. • does not retain any ownership or rights to any music created through the platform. • encourages artists to include contributions to charity as part of their fundraising project. • absorbs all transaction processing costs involved in pledging on a project. • encourages artists to offer a wide range of incentives and exclusive content to pledgers. • does not process any funding transactions until the funding target is reached. • is international, accepting artists, projects and pledgers from all over the world. • allows pledger refunds. PledgeMusic allows two distinct types of campaigns: direct-to-fan and preorder. In direct-to-fan campaigns, fans are not charged until the project target is reached, at which point money is collected in an “artist account” that holds the money for disbursement to the intended recipients. If a target is not reached, fans are not charged. In preorder campaigns, fans are charged immediately, and the artist is paid directly upon project completion, much like traditional online retail.
PLEDGE MUSIC Crowd Funding gets your fans involved in the creative process. This also makes them a part of the project. Offer the option of other artists purchasing a spot to play in the studio with you and live with you. Attract the most passionate artists too and allow them to receive credit for performing with you. Auditions couldbecome a thing of the past. It’s a win-win. Slash and other artists describe the benefits of Pledge, such as: •
“The fan has become the label.”
•
“The money they raised helped them finish the album and go on tour.”
•
“I can almost present the record personally to the fans.” —Slash

“PledgeMusic has been nothing short of amazing for me,” says former Jellyfish frontman and current Beck keyboardist Roger Manning. “I can establish regular, mass communication directly with my fan base and have them literally guide and inspire me as to what they would enjoy hearing from me next.” Fair enough, but Manning also could teach a master’s course on how to be a PledgeMusic high roller: In addition to an exhaustive range of offerings around his latest releases, he’s selling signed posters and handwritten lyric sheets, personal voicemails, Skype interviews, made-to-order songs, studio sessions, and “so much more!” And according to his “memorabilia” section, he’s made at least $20,000 selling old stage costumes and keyboards.
With your own website store you can do the same. An entrepreneurial spirit, a webmaster and visual artist are needed for this but if you have the fan-following you could make far more! These are suggestions. Rock Legend News is in no way affiliated with or receives compensation for advertising this service or any other service in its magazine.

Leo Lyons is an English musician, who was also the bassist and a founder of the blues rock band Ten Years After. Genres: Blues rock, blues, rock. Occupation(s): Musician, songwriter, record producer. “Force It” is the fourth studio album by the British rock band UFO, released in 1975. It became their first album to chart in the United States. The album was produced by Ten Years After bass player Leo Lyons. Another Ten Years After member, Chick Churchill, played keyboards, the first use of that instrument on a UFO record. The CD reissue was remastered at Sound Recording Technology, Cambridge in 1994. The somewhat controversial original cover was
designed by Hipgnosis, as were almost all other UFO albums of the 1970s. The nudity on the cover verged on breaching decency standards and the genders of the couple in the bathtub were not known for several years. The models were later revealed to be Genesis P-Orridge and his girlfriend Cosey Fanni Tutti, both later of the influential industrial band Throbbing Gristle.[3] The artwork was softened for the initial US release, making the couple in the bathtub transparent. The cover is a pun - there are multiple taps (British English) or “faucets” (US English) in the picture, which is a pun
in the album’s title. Released July 1975 Recorded Morgan Studios and Wessex Sound Studios, London Genre Hard rock, heavy metal Length 38:11 Label Chrysalis Producer Leo Lyons Singles from Force It “Shoot Shoot” / “Love Lost Love” Released: 1975 “High Flyer” / “Let It Roll”

UFO: “Force It” YouTube Views: 689,662 Amazon 5 stars - 5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon Customer Review: This Mother Mary Kids, Out In The Street, were letting it roll dancing their lives away... By Suprematist Juggernauton August 1, 2013 Format: Audio CD | Verified Purchase “Force it” is a natural evolution traced by the band in relation to what they had created with their previous release. This album is heavier, more cohesive and leaves behind all traces of late psychedelia from Bolton’s era that remained. You may even discuss whether “High Flyer” is still a remaining heritage of this genre, indeed it might be, but nothing changes the fact that the music is very beautiful. Although many people complain about the production skills of Leo Lyons, in my opinion it sets the right tone for the heavy weight of Michael Schenker guitar work and Pete Way’s bass. The rest he chooses to leave in charge of the band. The intervention of sporadic Chick Churchill on the piano is in the right measure, without exaggeration as we can find in “No Heavy Petting”. The tracks here persist in greater numbers up to nowadays in the set list and in the live anthologies from their catalogue, compared to “Phenomenon” “Let it Roll,” “Shoot Shoot,” “This Kids,” “Mother Mary” and “Out In The Streets” can be heard and found easily, and not without good reasons for that.
Leo Lyons Was Hired As a Studio Manager by Chrysalis Records in The Mid ’70s & Produced UK Hard Rock Band UFO From 1974 - 1976 Danny Peyronel joined UFO in September 1975. This was the first time UFO had a keyboardist in their lineup. They only recorded an album with Peyronel in the band, “No Heavy Petting.” This album was produced by Leo Lyons (bassist in Ten Years After). It contains several of UFO all-time classics, like “Natural thing”, “I’m a loser”, as well as Peyronel’s “Highway lady”. “Can You Roll Her”, also a Peyronel composition, and “Highway Lady”, were the only 2 singles ever to be released from this album, for the Japanese market. “Lady” also turned out to be the only UFO track to be included in a classic compilation double CD entitled Road songs, The Harley-Davidson Story in the U.S. Danny left the band in July 1976. It has recently been released a live album from the period when Danny was in the band!! It’s called “On With The Action”, and it was recorded Live at The Roundhouse. Released May 1976 Recorded Morgan Studios, London, 1976 Genre Hard rock, heavy metal Length 35:16 Label Chrysalis Producer Leo Lyons
Phenomenon is the third studio album by the British rock band UFO, released in May 1974. This was the third studio album and the debut on Chrysalis. UFO largely left their blues-based “space rock” sound behind, in part due to the presence of their new guitarist, German 19-year-old Michael Schenker. The album was produced by Leo Lyons, bass guitarist of British rock group Ten Years After. All tracks were recorded at Morgan Studios in London. The original cover design and photos were produced by Hipgnosis. It was remastered at Sound Recording Technology, Cambridge, in 1994. Pete Way with a Rick?! by (loendmaestro) » Fri Sep 10, 2004 8:57 pm This one is mostly for Steve Cooper... Check out this pic of Pete Way from UFO with a 4001. He’s mostly known as a Thunderbird player - in fact he’s half the reason I have a T-bird (Pascal Humbert from 16 Horsepower is the other). But I thought this was pretty cool nonetheless. Never seen him with a Rick before. Gotta be EARLY ‘74 as both Michael Schenker & Paul Chapman are in the band... by (paul_yan) » Sat Sep 11, 2004 8:32 am Nice pic, Chris! Pete looks better with a 4001! ROCK BOTTOM!!! by (brianb) » Thu Sep 16, 2004 6:00 am Great picture Chris. I e.mailed Leo Lyons, who produced the early UFO albums and played bass for Ten Years After, and asked if that was his Ric in the picture. Leo lent Pete Way a few of his basses for the early recordings and Leo recorded “I‘d Love to Change the World” using his 4001. But alas that is not Leo’s Ric. Pete used Leo’s Jazz bass with UFO and his P bass for “Waysted.” Thought I’d throw in some useless Rock trivia. by (loendmaestro) » Sat Sep 18, 2004 7:47 am Great info Brian...I never knew Leo used a Rick on “I’d Love to...” by (atomic_punk) » Sun Sep 12, 2004 6:35 pm Chris, Very cool pic! Former KING DIAMOND Bassist HAL PATINO Suffers ‘Mild Heart Attack’ July 5, 2018 BLABBERMOUTH.NET EXCERPT
Former KING DIAMOND bassist Hal Patino suffered a “mild heart attack” over the weekend. The news was revealed by his son, Danish rock singer Maryann Cotton (born Jackie Patino), who recently embarked on a North American tour, with his father handling bass duties during the trek. Said Maryann: “We are currently in Las Vegas headed to Canada. During our stay here, my father, Hal Patino, had a mild heart attack and has been hospitalized since Sunday July 1st at Desert Springs Hospital. He fainted during the day at around 1:30 p.m. When we admitted him to the hospital, he had a blood pressure of 236; normal being 120. Due to his high blood pressure, he will not be able to perform in Canada. We are not sure as of now if he will need surgery or not, but we are keeping a close eye on him and hopefully he will be back to play the rest of the tour. This is a tough time for everyone, especially me, but I am positive about his recovery.” Maryann continued: “We are working on getting a stand-in for the Canada shows, and due to this setback, we really hope to give the fans a decent show. Please keep my father in your prayers.” READ FULL ARTICLE HAL PATINO FACEBOOK

Specialising in Roman to Renaissance, with main focus on Viking, Saxon, Medieval and Tudor jewellery. Bespoke commissions and other time periods are always welcome. Founded in 1997 • I make replica jewellery from all periods of history. Mainly the dark ages and medieval periods. I am equally happy casting a bronze age axe in an open forge as i would be traditionally setting diamonds in a victorian necklace. • I am a trained jeweller and have been working commercially in the trade for the last 16 years, producing jewellery and metalwork for collectors, film and TV production companies, museums and shops. • I have a strong interest in history and a keen eye for detail, having trained in Graphic design and illustration prior to my jewellery career i am happy to be able to combine them all together to produce fine pieces of jewellery. Products Jewellery and metalwork in all metals from gold to pewter. Mission To accurately research and reproduce period metalwork. I always try to make my pieces as close to the originals as possible using the techniques and materials of the time in question. Since setting up Danegeld I have supplied jewellery for various TV, film and stage productions. I have also demonstrated historical
jewellery making techniques on a couple of tv shows. This is a side of the company that has been growing considerably over the years and one that I hope to develop more. With my experience in traditional goldsmithing techniques, i can happily make intricate bespoke pieces . I have also spent several years working in the costume jewellery industry for high street retail, so am used to small to large production runs in plated base metals for the simpler pieces. I have spent a fair amount of time on set and understand the last minute deadlines, changing briefs and need for reliability and will always try to accomodate any requests. Another area of growth has been the heritage sector. I have made several reproduction pieces for museums and exibitions in the last few years, incuding a replica saxon sword hilt for National geographic and Birmingham museums Staffordshire hoard exibition, King Athelstans crown for Allsaints church and the funeral crown for Richard III’s reinternment in Leicester cathedral. This video shows how music affects visual artists & Musicians’ brains OR, HOW ARTISTS ARE AFFECTED BY VIBRATIONS & FREQUENCIES
What Music Really Is
Most people identify music with one particular tuning system, and define what music is through culturally inherited sets of rules and tools devised along this tuning. These include specific nomenclature, measuring units, reference frequency, musical instruments and layouts, notation, performing directives and a music theory given to integrate and regulate them. “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” — Nikola Tesla
FREQUENCY - TOOLS OF VISUAL ARTISTS & MUSICIANS Frequency as a Tool in Art When waves from a monochrome source travel from one medium to another, their frequency remains the same—only their wavelength and speed change. Monochrome describes paintings, drawings, design, or photographs in one color or values of one color. A monochromatic object or image reflects colors in shades of limited colors or hues. Images using only shades of grey (with or without black or white) are called grayscale or black-and-white. However, scientifically speaking, monochromatic light refers to visible light of a narrow band of wavelengths.
Frequencies, wavelengths, and musical intervals A harmonic series is the sequence of sounds —pure tones, represented by sinusoidal waves—in which the frequency of each sound is an integer multiple of the fundamental, the lowest frequency. The simplest case to visualise is a vibrating string. The string has fixed points at each end, and each harmonic mode divides it into 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., equal-sized sections resonating at increasingly higher frequencies. “The Last Puff” (1970) SPOOKY TOOTH - I Am The Walrus
Spooky Tooth - THE MIRROR, Fantasy Satisfier Spooky Tooth was an English rock band principally active between 1967 and 1974. In recent years, the band had been re-formed on several occasions and released the album Cross Purpose (1999) and the DVD Nomad Poets (2007). Prior to Spooky Tooth, four of the band’s five founding members had performed in the band Art (formerly known as The V.I.P.s). Following the dissolution of Art, the members’ of that band’s final line-up (guitarist Luther Grosvenor, vocalist Mike Harrison, drummer Mike Kellie, and bassist Greg Ridley) joined forces with American keyboardist/vocalist Gary Wright in October 1967 and formed Spooky Tooth. Wright was introduced to the members of Art by
Chris Blackwell, founder of Island Records. The album Spooky Two (1969) was the last album release by the original lineup. It included the song “Better by You, Better than Me”, which was covered by Judas Priest on their release Stained Class (1978). Ridley joined Humble Pie in 1969 and was replaced by Andy Leigh for the album Ceremony (1969). The experimental nature of Ceremony received mixed reviews and following its release Wright left the band. Harrison, Grosvenor and Kellie remained and recorded the album The Last Puff, with members of Joe Cocker’s Grease Band. In the autumn of 1970 the band embarked
on a European tour that was undertaken with line-up of Harrison, Grosvenor, Kellie, keyboardist John Hawken (ex-Nashville Teens) and bassist Steve Thompson. Harrison and Wright reformed Spooky Tooth in September 1972 with a different lineup. The best known member of these line-ups was guitarist and vocalist Mick Jones. Mike Patto replaced Harrison when they recorded The Mirror (1974). They disbanded in November 1974. After Spooky Tooth Grosvenor later played with Stealers Wheel and joined Mott the Hoople in the 1970s (replacing Mick Ralphs who left to form Bad Company), adopting the name Ariel Bender. In 2005, he founded The Ariel Bender Band, with which he still occasionally performs.
Kellie later joined The Only Ones in the late 1970s also performing with them in 1980’s. The band reformed in 2007.Ridley became a member of Humble Pie. He died in 2003. Mike Kellie died on 18 January 2017 after a short illness and Mike Harrison died on 25 March 2018.

PETER BARDENS 1975
PETER BARDENS (19 June 1944 – 22 January 2002)
was an English keyboardist and a founder member of the British progressive rock group Camel (1971–1978). He played keyboards, sang, and wrote songs with Andrew Latimer. During his career, Bardens worked alongside Rod Stewart, Mick Fleetwood and Van Morrison, and recorded solo albums. Bardens was born in Westminster London to Dennis Bardens, a novelist and biographer, and grew up in Notting Hill. He studied fine art at Byam Shaw School of Art, and learned the piano, before switching to the Hammond organ after listening to Jimmy Smith. In 1965, he spent a brief spell as the keyboard player with Them after leaving The Cheynes. He moved on and formed Peter B’s Looners which eventually morphed into Shotgun Express, a band that played soul music and featured Rod Stewart, Peter Green and Mick Fleetwood.Fleetwood later said Barden’s recruitment into the band kick-started his musical career. Bardens died from lung cancer in Malibu in January 2002, at the age of 57 and is interred in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Peter Bardens - The Answer (Full Album) HQ

PETER BARDENS THE ANSWER – 1970 This is a fun, psychedelic album featuring Bardens’ Hammond organ wizardry and exquisite guitar by Andy Gee (aka Andreas Grober) and Peter Green. Peter Bardens was in one of my all-time favorite bands; THEM with Van Morrison, so I immediately gave this new release a listen. “The Answer” is pure ProgRockPsychPop with a sense of fun; the title track is a great opener and sets the tone for the supernatural warnings of “Don’t Goof with a Spook” and the stoner in-jokes of “I Can’t Remember (what I just thought of)”, and the album ends with the bombastic orgiastic classic “Homage to the God of Light”, a psychedelic Wagnerian Rocker opus! This album made 00individual’s Top 79 Historic & Classic 1970s Rock Albums list with these well-composed seriously extended tracks and would have been a perfect album if not for two tracks on side two; “I Don’t Want To Go Home” and “Let’s Get It On”, both were more in line with his next solo album, “Write My Name In The Dust” (a great song) and should have been replaced with a couple of mind-blowers – just a Rock fan’s desire for perfection. Former Thin Lizzy German Tour1974 guitarist Date: Tue, 5 Mar 2002 16:05:18 - 0000 INTERVIEW BY James Taylor, aka jt
Recently I had the good fortune to chat with Andy Gee and hear some of his reminisences about his Thin Lizzy experiences. He has been kind enough to allow me to share them with you. jt -- Some THIN LIZZY fans may recognize the name ANDY GEE from your short stint with Thin Lizzy for the 1974 German Tour. Being born in Berlin, in 1950, must have meant that your language skills were a definite bonus to the band as they toured in this ‘foreign’ land. How did it come about that you happened to join THIN LIZZY in the first place? anDg -- I met Phil and Brian at a party in Bayswater and Phil mentioned they were looking for a guitarist. We did have a couple of rehearsals and I met John Cann. I think Phil wanted to solve the problem of the difference between the ‘live’ sound and the ‘recorded’ double-tracked guitar solos. jt -- That was because prior to this Thin Lizzy had been a trio, with ERIC BELL doing the guitar duties. I’ve heard that GARY MOORE had briefly joined the band to replace Eric after Eric left, but ended up not staying, which was why Phil was looking for a guitarist at this time, I believe. Was this the beginning of the Thin Lizzy dual guitar sound? anDg -- Solving the live sound problem was easily remedied by a ‘2 guitarist’ line-up. Before I knew what was happening, we were on the overnight Ferry to Hamburg, me introducing the boys to some German ‘Schnapps’ and Lagers. I came off worse and promptly made our ‘cabin’ uninhabitable for the night (“well ill”)....
‘Enjoy Life - this is not a rehearsal’. It cheered me up a little and thought this is just the kind of thing Phil would have said. I’ve still got it on my key-ring to remind myself. —Andy Gee jt and Andy Gee March 5th, 2002 German Tour photos © Copyright 1974 Andy Gee except as noted. READ COMPLETE ARTICLE
Andy Gee
(born Andreas Gröber, 1 September 1950 in Berlin) is a German guitarist and musician, best known for his time with Peter Bardens, Steve Ellis and as a temporary member of Thin Lizzy. Career Gee began playing guitar in 1958, and was a member of a school band in the early 1960s. After passing through a number of Frankfurt groups, he moved to Ireland in 1967. He joined Irish showband The Nights in 1968, and subsequently played and toured with British band Springfield Park. He then teamed up with Pete Bardens, and played on his 1969 album, The Answer, also featuring Peter Green. Gee also featured on Bardens’ follow-up album, Write My Name in the Dust. In 1970, Gee joined Follow the Buffalo, and the following year he teamed up with Steve Ellis and his new band Ellis. Ellis recorded two albums in the early 1970s, Riding on the Crest of a Slump and Why Not?, before splitting up. In 1974, after Gary Moore had left Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott was looking for two temporary guitarists to replace Moore for a tour of Germany. He chose Gee and ex-Atomic Rooster member John Cann. During the tour, Gee and Lynott reworked a then-unreleased track, “Suicide”, from the single-guitar piece that the band had played with Eric Bell, into a dual-guitar arrangement. The track later surfaced on the Fighting album in 1975, with Scott Gorham playing Gee’s parts. After the tour had ended, Gee helped Thin Lizzy audition for new guitarists, but was not considered for
a permanent role as he was still under contract to a different record company. Gee subsequently moved to Canada, and played with Avenir and Fighter, and also worked as a session musician on soundtracks for commercials. Moving back to London in 1983, he formed his own groups, Exit, and later Scandal, the latter with Reg Isidore. After this he worked for an independent music publishing company until 1994, and then switched genres to house music, releasing several solo albums and working with various notable musicians and DJs, including Chris Westbrook, Byron Burke and Marshall Jefferson. He is still an independent music publisher, and still records. THEM were a Northern Irish band formed in Belfast in April 1964, most prominently known for the garage rock standard “Gloria” and launching singer Van Morrison’s musical career. The original five member band consisted of Morrison, Alan Henderson, Ronnie Milling, Billy Harrison and Eric Wrixon. The group was marketed in the United States as part of the British Invasion. THEM scored two UK hits in 1965 with “Baby, Please Don’t Go” (UK #10) and “Here Comes the Night” (UK #2; Ireland #2). The latter song and “Mystic Eyes” were Top 40 hits in the US. Morrison quit the band in 1966 and went on to a successful career as a solo artist. Despite their relatively few hit singles, the Belfast group had considerable influence on other bands, such as the Doors. STONED CIRCUS 1970 ACID PSYCH ROCK
A long gone, forgotten by most psychedelic band from the Midwest. This is a remaster from the original tapes. Band was from Kansas City and this ten track album was recorded at Cavern Studios in 1970. This is an outstanding piece of US psychedelia. The powerful sound with male and female lead vocals has a strong “Jefferson Airplane” feeling, featuring a magic B3 organ and stunning heavy guitars. Not to be confused with the “Stone Circus” that recorded for the Mainstream label. This material was unreleased and found in the archives of Cavern Sound Studios where the “Wizzards from Kansas” recorded. Released as limited LP version in 1994 which is long sold out. Songs include “Gotta find Way”, “Try Love”, “New World”, “Trust”, and a fabulous coverversion of “Gonna Leave You”… Originally recorded in 1970 and for the first time on CD taken from the original masters including an 8p. with cool artwork, bio and photos. Highly recommended, reflects honest summer, peace & love feeling! STONED CIRCUS HEADSTONE CIRCUS Headstone Circus - 1968
REASON TO LIVE
Z
AllMusic Review by Franรงois Couture Recorded between 1968 and 1970, the tracks on this eponymous CD were not released back then and represent Headstone Circus' complete legacy. Bassist Nick Bonis, drummer Randy Ray Pope and lead guitarist Mike Johnstone formed Headstone Circus in 1966. The group was meant to have a psychedelic rock imprint, but the addition of singer/songwriter Glenn Faria diverted that original intention toward something much closer to Crosby, Stills & Nash, Neil Young or Buffalo Springfield. Upon listening to these tracks released almost 40 years after the fact, it is obvious that the group was doing some things right. Faria has a warm and soulful voice, the multipart vocal harmonies (the main CS&N tie-in) are beautiful and most of the melodies exert an immediate appeal. However, possible reasons why the group never "made it" also become quickly obvious, the main one being a tendency to overstretch simple songs. While musically proficient, the group simply doesn't have in its ranks the kind of virtuosity or creativity that could justify playing a simple chorusand-verse song for five minutes or more. As a result, otherwise pretty good songs like "I'm Going Down" and "Summers Gone" drag on for too long, making them sound weaker than they had to be. There is still some enjoyment to be had from these tapes though, especially for fans of harmony folk-rock or connoisseurs who liked Faria's early-'70s solo LP (another rarity legitimately released for the first time in the 2000s). The first eight tracks make up what would have been Headstone Circus' album proper; they are well recorded but the tapes clearly suffered from old age (distortion, slight drops, a grainy feel). The last four tracks are demo recordings.
REVIEW BY MIKE PATTON Y&T PHOTOGRAPHER The following 7 pages include photos from a Y&T show at a place called O.B. Suave’s Lounge right outside New Orleans, La., on 24 September 1981. The small club held 40 people. “Earthshaker” album had recently been released and they played that whole album plus some old classics like Alcohol, 25 Hours a Day and Struck Down. Dave was on fire and the boys backing him really brought the noise. With so few people there, it would have been easy to mail it in, but they really tore the roof off that small place. As you can imagine how mind blowing it was for us to see Dirty Girl, I Believe In You and Rescue Me for the first time live! One of my favorite bands. —Mike Patton

August 7 at 8:07 AM I want to update everyone on what is currently happening so there are no misunderstandings. I’m not one who likes to broadcast physical ailments, but I thought it best since we just postponed a show. Last month I injured my back lifting & moving some heavy items. The sports doctor/back specialist who has been treating me had advised me not to play any shows. But ever the optimist, I felt certain that adrenaline would kick in and carry me through these past few; I was right, but I paid the price as it set me back. I've been mostly bedridden with pain since the injury. Thankfully, this week I'm scheduled for a cortisone shot that should alleviate the pain and swelling. You may not see me around the next few weeks, as I’ll be doing all that’s necessary to close this chapter and move forward. We still have some 30+ more shows to play this year with tons of travelling, and tons of sitting for extended times, so I know the urgency of getting this sorted ASAP. I expect to be back up there rocking through all of them in top shape soon enough. Rest assured I’m in good hands and I’ll see you on stage again soon. Cheers, -Dave

ULI JON ROTH SKY SUPER STRAT (Family: Aquila Sky Strat) The idea for a SKY SUPER STRAT came about several years ago in order to celebrate an Anniversary of Uli’s early Scorpions and Electric Sun days. Although Uli has played Sky Guitars virtually exclusively since 1985 and they have become his main trademark, there are those who prefer to see Uli with a Fender Strat, the guitar which he was associated with during his early days and which he used to create his unique style of guitar wizardry. Uli and the Strat is synonymous with albums like “In Trance, Virgin Killer, Taken By Force, Tokyo Tapes, Earthquake, Fire Wind and Beyond The Astral Skies”. All of these albums are of undeniable importance for the history of the electric guitar. The Sky Super Strat is essentially an unusual hybrid in that it combines certain key features of the original Fender Stratocaster with the sonic power, versatility and super smooth handling of a modern day Sky Guitar – including the Mega-Wing III system and a Sky Guitar type neck. The body shape is unadulterated and vintage Strat in every aspect, but just about everything else is Sky Guitar. The combination Strat & Mega Wing III is unbelievably perfect and the result is sheer sonic bliss for all those who gravitate towards a great Stratocaster tone. In our opinion, the tone of this guitar surpasses that of any Strat on the market, no matter how well built and this is why we gave it the name of “Super Strat”.
An Interview with the Master: Robert Greene on Stoicism By Ryan Holiday THE DAILY STOIC It’s incredible to think that the DailyStoic.com community is the largest assembled group of Stoics since Rome, perhaps in all of history. We’ve become a global community of people who are using this ancient philosophy to become the very best version of ourselves—whether we’re entrepreneurs, parents, professional athletes, students, rockstars, insurance agents, politicians or police officers. Ryan Holiday is a best-selling author whose forthcoming book, The Daily Stoic: 366 Meditations on Wisdom, Perseverance, and the Art of Living. Here are excerpts from the complete interview
A brief synopsis and definition on this particular school of Hellenistic philosophy: Stoicism was founded in Athens by Zeno of Citium in the early 3rd century BC, but was famously practiced by the likes of Epictetus, Seneca and Marcus Aurelius (pic). The philosophy asserts that virtue (such as wisdom) is happiness and judgment should be based on behavior, rather than words. That we don’t control and cannot rely on external events, only ourselves and our responses.
Except for the Stoics themselves, no one has influenced me as a reader and writer more than Robert Greene who has been reading and studying Stoic philosophy for over 30 years. As someone who is very much into Zen Buddhism, Stoicism is probably the closest thing to it in the Western sense. What’s so nice about it is that it’s not only a hardcore philosophy but it’s also quite poetic. It makes you contemplate the weirdness of life and the sublimity of things. It’s just a beautiful philosophy. My long winded answer is that it seeps into all your books: Seneca and Marcus Aurelius most of all. So many people have this conception of power as being something that only involves world leaders, is some separate realm of human endeavor, when in fact people are constantly angling for power in the simplest things they do in life. I also wanted to accomplish that in Mastery in chapter 4, See People as They Are. Ignore people’s words, the front they present and see what they are really up to.
amor fati -Love Of Fate
PHILOSOPHY
Marcus Aurelius described it like this: “The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.” In The 50th Law, you talk about the concept of amor fati —a love of fate. Obviously this originated with Nietzsche but it’s a very Stoic idea. Why is that such an important idea? Robert Greene: “I came upon that through Nietzsche. He was obsessed with those two words. Going back some thirty years for me, when I read about this concept I just found it so exciting. It is linked with his concept of the eternal recurrence. Basically, this means that you live your life according to the principle that if you were to have to repeat the same actions as in the past, you would do them the same way. In other words, be at one with your fate and give your actions the weight of eternity. Stop wishing for something else to happen, for a different fate. That is to live a false life. Through Nietzsche, I discovered amor fati. I just fell in love with the concept because the power that you can have in life of accepting your fate is so immense that it’s almost hard to fathom. You feel that everything happens for a purpose, and that it is up to you to make this purpose something positive and active. It depends on how you see things, how you interpret this fate. It’s all what you discuss so well in The Obstacle is the Way. “Amor Fati: The Formula for Human Greatness.” —Robert Greene @RobertGreene

“I Was In Shock” Woman Finds Her Bank of America Safe Deposit Box Has Vanished “IT’S TIME. BE YOUR OWN BANK” by Tyler Durden Fri, 07/27/2018 - 06:01 Zerohedge.com
A safe deposit box should, by definition, be “safe.” However, to her surprise, that is precisely the opposite of what a California woman discovered a few days ago. Susan Nomi said that when she went to open the Bank of America safe deposit box she had for 16 years, the entire box had vanished. The safe is where she kept her family’s jewelry and her dad’s coin collection. “I was in shock; I was just like what happened to my box,” said Nomi, quoted by CBS Sacramento.
Worse, Bank of America - which was custodian of the safety box - couldn’t explain where her valuables went: “They don’t have an answer. They don’t have an answer. They say thanks for letting us know,” Nomi said. Making matters worse for the infuriated woman, she herself was a retired Bank of America employee of 40 years; and she’s not alone. Others have complained that Bank of America drilled their safe deposit boxes without permission or notice. Another dissatisfied customer, Wendy Woo, said her belongings were taken out of her safe deposit box and shipped to her by the bank: “Everything was dumped in a plastic bag,” said Woo. In the process, a ring went missing and a necklace was damaged in the process. “Safe deposit box... that’s what it’s for, safe,” she said, only not when the safe belongs to Bank of America. A second family complained that it too had gotten the contents of their safe deposit box shipped back too, but claim $17,000 in jewelry was missing. “I just got robbed from the bank,” another woman complained: “They just took my stuff.” Needless to say, what makes these situations bizarre, is that according to federal rules, banks can drill a box without permission only when there is a court order, search warrant, delinquent rental fees, requests from estate administrators, or if the bank is closing a branch. And yet none of those reasons applies to any of these cases.

The least stressful way of having Bitcoin is holding it. It is an investment so it will go up and down periodically and it is volatile. It’s not as hard as it may seem to invest some savings into Bitcoin. And, you don’t have to monitor your investment but why not? It is good to learn as much as you can to stay as independent as possible. And, chances are if you hold into 2 years or more you are going to see a very nice profit. At least your hard earned money is not sitting in a bank that is capable of closing your account at their discretion. Take responsibility for your money. Be your own bank. And, you can use something like Opendime to hand to someone instead of cash. Talk to a CPA or tax accountant to find out what your taxable events may be if you cash out of Bitcoin. This is not investment advice, just examples. Do your own research. It is worth it!

Western Union Patent Eyes Cryptocurrency for Secure Transfer System
A newly-published Western Union patent envisions a system that manages recurring transfer notifications and secure payments for a cryptocurrency network. According to filing documents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Thursday, the Englewood, CO-based firm — the largest money transfer service in the world — has sought to devise a method to increase the security of electronic payments. The firm first applied for the patent in Dec. 2016. Among other things, Western Union‘s proposed system uses biometric verification such to ensure that senders authorize all transactions. This verification may come in the form of a fingerprint scan, a user voice sample, or a retinal scan. The patent application indicates that the system has been designed as a general-purpose tool to accommodate most types of electronic network. However, the document specifically notes that “in certain embodiments” the “electronic transfer network may be a cryptocurrency network such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, or Peercoin (remember, the application was submitted in 2016). “Thus, in various embodiments, electronic transfer network may be configured to support and perform transfers of various currency types, including traditional and/ or digital currencies, centralized and/or de-centralized currencies, cryptocurrencies, and any other medium of exchange (e.g., credit, gift cards or certificates, points in a user point system, etc.), between client devices and/or external systems in different areas, regions, or jurisdictions.” SOURCE

What is this “Opendime” I keep hearing about? Bitcoin is taking off: now even available from space via satellite!
We think it’s great the community is thinking of a world with Bitcoin and less or no Internet access. Satellites can be part of that, and so can Opendime.
cash in hand, physically pass it along multiple times. Anonymous. Trust no one. Accept Bitcoin offline. The Cypherpunk’s p2p choice.
Opendime is a small USB stick that allows you to spend Bitcoin like a dollar bill or a bar of gold. “Transactions” are just handing it to another person. But you trust no-one, so you need to verify the balance: just connect to any block explorer, or maybe even your downlink station! It’s exactly like a Bitcoin “bearer bond”. In sci-fi books and movies, they call it a “Bitcoin Stick”.
BASED ON PRIVATE KEYS Each Opendime holds one private key. It publishes the public key (payment address) to anyone and never reveals the key until “unsealed”. PIGGY-BANK ECONOMICS !? Yes. It’s like a piggy-bank. You must destroy it to spend the funds. At first that seems expensive and wasteful, but it’s a key part of our security model: you can trust a sealed Opendime, and it’s obvious when it’s been opened. INSTANT AND OFF-CHAIN Since we are putting private keys into a physical form you can trust, you can simply hand around Opendime units to move amounts around. There are no pre-defined Bitcoin amounts with Opendime either. Store as much or as little as needed.

Malta Passes Blockchain Bills Into Law, ‘Confirming Malta as the Blockchain Island’ By Ana Alexandre
4 JULY 2018 COIN TELEGRAPH EXCERPTS | FULL ARTICLE
The Parliament of Malta has passed three bills into law that establish a regulatory framework for blockchain technology, local news outlet Malta Today reported July 4. The bills include the Malta Digital Innovation Authority Act, the Innovative Technological Arrangement and Services Act, and the Virtual Financial Asset Act. Silvio Schembri, Junior Minister for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation within the Office of the Prime Minister of Malta, tweeted about the passing of the bills today, noting that the island nation is a pioneer in providing a solid legal framework for blockchain companies.

“The three Bills that will regulate distributed ledger technology (DLT) have been approved by Parliament and enacted into law. Malta, the first world jurisdiction to provide legal certainty to this space.” The Malta Gaming Authority issued a document with guidelines on blockchain and cryptocurrency applications in the gaming industry, aiming to apply standards to games that use cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Last year, the government of Malta also announced it was developing a project to test the feasibility of using blockchain for the recording of academic certificates.
A multitude of blockchain and crypto business have already located to Malta, as the country’s officials took regulatory steps to become the “blockchain island.” Recently, several cryptocurrency exchanges, including OKex, Binance, and BitBay have set up operations in Malta due to the development of a blockchain and crypto-friendly space within the country. In May, the Transport Minister of Malta announced a partnership with U.K. middleware blockchain startup Omnitude to improve the Maltese Public Transport Service using distributed ledger technology. Dr. Jean-Philippe Chetcuti of Maltese law firm Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, said the passage of the new legislation is “a momentous milestone for Malta as a forward-looking economy, truly confirming Malta as the ‘blockchain island.’” Chetcuti noted that companies will feel more comfortable “committing to further investment, and setting up in Malta.” Schembri said that the move taken by the Parliament would put investors’ minds to rest as companies now have the necessary legal tools to operate in a regulated environment. The Junior Minister also expressed his optimism about companies choosing Malta as their base of operations, saying that the republic now offers a stable system that will “result in further economic growth.” SOURCE https://cointelegraph.com/news/malta-passes-blockchain-bills-intolaw-confirming-malta-as-the-blockchain-island
UK Is Leading The Way To Becoming A Global Bitcoin Hub TECH CRUNCH | Romain Dillet @romaindillet July 31, 2015
In many countries, when it comes to regulating bitcoin companies, it’s still mostly a work in progress. Some governments want to restrict bitcoin quite a lot, while others are adopting a more favorable stance. The U.K. has been the financial hub of Europe for decades now, and it looks like it plans to do the same thing with bitcoin. British Prime Minister David Cameron is currently wrapping up his first trade mission since re-election in South East Asia, and he brought the usual suspects (Lloyd’s of London, Rolls-Royce…), as well as a bitcoin company, Blockchain.

This is a good sign for the bitcoin industry in the U.K. as the British Government has yet to adopt a strong stance on the subject. On the one hand, bitcoin companies should expect anti-money laundering regulation; on the other hand, the Bank of England has issued multiple favorable statements toward the cryptocurrency as Coindesk noticed. “While existing private digital currencies have economic flaws which make them volatile, the distributed ledger technology that their payment systems rely on may have considerable promise,” the Bank of England wrote in February. And bringing a bitcoin company to a trade mission is yet another sign that the U.K. wants to play an important role when it comes to welcoming bitcoin startups and becoming a bitcoin hub. This is not the kind of company that you would expect on an official trip to Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Malaysia. “There are a couple of peer-to-peer loan companies and then there’s an e-commerce company and a bank software-as-a-service provider,” Blockchain co-founder and CEO Peter Smith told me. “Other big companies on the delegation are massive infrastructure companies.” London-based startup Blockchain has been growing quite a lot lately. The number of transactions using Blockchain’s wallets and API has doubled over the past six months, and the company now has 4 million users. The team also raised $30 million in October 2014. What is Ethereum Guide?
Beyond Bitcoin & first generation decentralized applications. Although commonly associated with Bitcoin, blockchain technology has many other applications that go way beyond digital currencies. In fact, Bitcoin is only one of several hundred applications that use blockchain technology today. Until relatively recently, building blockchain applications has required a complex background in coding, cryptography, mathematics as well as significant resources. But times have changed. Previously unimagined applications, from electronic voting & digitally recorded property assets to regulatory compliance & trading are now actively being developed and deployed faster than ever before. By providing developers with the tools to build decentralized applications, Ethereum is making all of this possible. “[Blockchain] is to Bitcoin, what the Internet is to email. A big electronic system, on top of which you can build applications. Currency is just one. Sally Davies, FT Technology Reporter
What is Bitcoin in a nutshell
Small wonder that Bitcoin emerged in 2008 just after Occupy Wall Street accused big banks of misusing borrowers’ money, duping clients, rigging the system, and charging boggling fees. Bitcoin pioneers wanted to put the seller in charge, eliminate the middleman, cancel interest fees, and make transactions transparent, to hack corruption and cut fees. They created a decentralized system, where you could control your funds and know what was going on. Bitcoin has come far in a relatively short time. All over the world, companies, from REEDS Jewelers, a large jewelry chain in the US, to a private hospital in Warsaw, Poland, accept its currency. Billion dollar businesses such as Dell, Expedia, PayPal, and Microsoft do, too. Websites promote it, publications such as Bitcoin Magazine publish its news, forums discuss cryptocurrency and trade its coins. It has its application programming interface (API), price index, and exchange rate. Problems include thieves hacking accounts, high volatility, and transaction delays. On the other hand, people in third world countries may find Bitcoin their most reliable channel yet for giving or receiving money.

Just at that time turmoil within the band began and ultimately everything disintegrated due to money issues and personal differences.
HAWK was founded by and sponsored by Londa R. Marks and Doug Marks. HAWK band lineup was Doug Marks (Metal Method guitar instructor, guitarist), Scott Travis (drums, Judas Priest), Lonnie Vencent (bass, BulletBoys & King Kobra), Charles Morrill (vocals). The Hawk album was recorded in 1986 as a Doug Marks solo project after the original band dissolved earlier that year. Being signed to Atlantic Records may have been a good thing, but maybe not;
30 years later, a HAWK album is at least still being sold by one of the original HAWK artists, Doug Marks, for $7.50– $18.00 each. If Atlantic Records had signed the band, possibly a lot of money/ fame/artistic validation would have happened with HAWK but also possibly no money would have been made for the artists. YASGURS FARM
Max B. Yasgur (December 15, 1919 – February 9, 1973) was an American farmer, best known as the owner of the dairy farm in Bethel, New York, at which the Woodstock Music and Art Fair was held between August 15 and August 18, 1969. Yasgur was born in New York City to Russian Jewish immigrants Samuel and Bella Yasgur. He was raised on the family’s farm (where his parents also ran a small hotel) and attended New York University, studying real estate law. By the late 1960s, he was the largest milk producer in Sullivan County, New York. His farm had 650 cows, mostly Guernseys. At the time of the festival in 1969, Yasgur was married and had a son and daughter. His son, Sam Yasgur, was an assistant district attorney in New York City at the time. Yasgur was 49 at the time of the festival and had a heart condition. He said at the time that he never expected the festival to be so large, but that “if the generation gap is to be closed, we older people have to do more than we have done.” Yasgur quickly established a rapport with the concert-goers, providing food at cost or for free. When he heard that some local residents were reportedly selling water to people coming to the concert, he put up a big sign at his barn on New York State Route 17B reading “Free Water.” The New York Times reported that Yasgur “slammed a work-hardened fist on the table and demanded of some friends, ‘How can anyone ask money for water?’” His son Sam recalled his father telling his children to “take every empty milk bottle from the plant, fill them with water and give them to the kids, and give away all the milk and milk products we had at the dairy.” In 1971, Yasgur sold the 600-acre (2.4 km2) farm, and moved to Marathon, Florida, where, a year and a half later, he died of a heart attack at the age of 53. He was given a full-page obituary in Rolling Stone magazine, one of the few non-musicians to have received such an honor. In 1997, the site of the concert and 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) surrounding it was purchased by Alan Gerry for the purpose of creating the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. In August 2007, the 103-acre (0.42 km2) parcel that contains Yasgur’s former homestead, about 3 miles from the festival site, was placed on the market for $8 million by its owner, Roy Howard (1935-2013). Remembered for his free spirit and giving heart, Roy paid tribute to Max by hosting annual reunions.
