TRAIN DAY 1 TRAIN DAY 2

MORNING

Board Rocky Mountaineer in the urban oasis of Vancouver and journey through the farmlands of the Fraser Valley. Watch as the landscape transforms into the towering peaks of the Coast Mountains, soon giving way to the mighty Fraser River and whitewater of Hell’s Gate.

AFTERNOON

The scenery undergoes another dramatic shift as you find yourself amid a desert landscape peppered with sagebrush. Your first day’s journey comes to an end as you stop in the quiet town of Kamloops, where you will stay overnight at a hotel.

MORNING

Catch glimpses of the famous Castle Mountain and Mount Rundle as you enter the Rocky Mountains, gazing at cascading waterfalls and icy glaciers spilling over the peaks above. End your second day of rail travel in Banff or Lake Louise.

FEATURED ROUTE HIGHLIGHTS

MOUNT RUNDLE

The iconic Mount Rundle is one of the most photographed landmarks in all of Banff National Park, standing tall at 2,948-meters.

CASTLE MOUNTAIN

One of the most striking peaks in the Rockies, this imposing mountain is named for its fortress-like presence. Find it approximately halfway between Lake Louise and Banff.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE CLOUDS

INCREDIBLE DESTINATIONS.

Each rail route crosses unimaginable landscapes, allowing you to discover some of the most iconic and memorable places in North America. Book one of our packages to extend your journey beyond the train, with free time to relax and explore these stunning destinations at your leisure.

Moraine Lake, Banff National Park, Alberta

OUR DESTINATIONS.

Explore the magnificent beauty of the Canadian Rockies and West Coast through our destinations and overnight midpoint stops.

VANCOUVER

With a backdrop of endless mountains and glistening ocean, Vancouver is simply aweinspiring. Elegant glass skyscrapers tower above some of the most spectacular temperate rainforests in the Pacific Northwest, a bustling ecosystem home to cougars, coyotes, wolves, whales, salmon, and the infamous Kermode, or “spirit”, bear. Experience West Coast culture with a flourishing art, music, and Michelin-star dining scene or take a leisurely stroll around one of the city’s many beaches.

BANFF

Located in Banff National Park, this iconic mountain town offers everything from natural hot springs and gondola rides to a thriving culinary and shopping scene. The famous Mount Rundle towers over the town no matter where you are and there is no shortage of outdoor adventures to embark on. The surrounding parklands are home to roaming grizzly bears, elk, and postcard-perfect glacial lakes the Rockies are known for.

JASPER

A quaint town nestled within majestic mountains, Jasper sits in the middle of the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies. A little off the beaten path, Jasper is full of rustic charm and boasts an extensive trail network, perfect for exploring the many mountain peaks, glacial lakes, and dramatic waterfalls. Dip your toes in the biggest glaciallyfed lake in the Rockies–Maligne Lake–or watch star systems across the world’s second largest Dark Sky Preserve.

LAKE LOUISE

World-renowned for its turquoise-hued waters, Lake Louise is set against a breathtaking backdrop of mountain peaks and glaciers. Widely considered the crown-jewel of the Rocky Mountains, this dramatically beautiful destination is home to the historic Fairmont Lake Louise—a perfect starting point to explore the hiking trails that wind alongside the lake. Rent a canoe or kayak and paddle across the tranquil waters for the quintessential Rockies experience.

OUR DESTINATIONS.

EDMONTON

The capital city of Alberta, Edmonton is a vibrant urban hub known for its rich cultural scene and outdoor activities. Situated on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, it’s renowned for its expansive river valley, one of the largest urban park systems in North America. The city is home to West Edmonton Mall, one of the largest shopping and entertainment complexes in the world, offering everything from shops to an indoor amusement park.

*This destination cannot be reached onboard our train but is available through many of our packages as a beginning or end point.

CALGARY

Saddling the border between cosmopolitan oasis and cowboy-country, Calgary is a thriving city that dishes out an extra serving of downhome hospitality to every visitor. Wander through Calgary’s green rolling foothills or explore the city’s high-end shopping scene and transform into your own version of a modern day cowboy.

*This destination cannot be reached onboard our train but is available through many of our packages as a beginning or end point.

WHISTLER (MIDPOINT)

With stunning mountain vistas, pristine lakes, limitless outdoor activities, a peak-to-peak gondola, and a vibrant nightlife, Whistler offers endless exploration all year round. This midpoint stop is found on our Rainforest to Gold Rush route and allows for a little more time to explore the village.

You will stop overnight in Whistler on our Rainforest to Gold Rush route.

KAMLOOPS & QUESNEL (MIDPOINTS)

As a daylight-only train, all guests stop overnight in one or more of our midpoint destinations. Here, you’ll sleep in a hotel at night and board the train in the morning for another day of rail travel. Because train travel takes up the majority of the day, arrival in midpoint destinations is typically in the evening, leaving less time to explore than in our beginning and end-point destinations.

You will stop overnight in Kamloops on our First Passage to the West and Journey through the Clouds routes and in Quesnel on our Rainforest to Gold Rush Route.
