make it official - Where to get your license
Make it official
In Alberta, you can get your registration of marriage and marriage license at any registry agent office. You and your partner must both be present at the office with proper identification. Please know that this process might differ based on the location and the COVID-19 pandemic - double check before you head out. Acceptable pieces of identification contain your first and last name, photo and a distinct identification number. Be prepared to answer multiple questions, such as when and where are you getting married, or if you’ve had any previous marriages. The government fee for a marriage license is $40, and you must be married within three months of receiving the license. The province of Alberta does not require you to be a resident, but it does require two witnesses at the ceremony. Your officiant will have the responsibility of sending the signed registration of marriage form to Vital Statistics within 48 hours of the ceremony.
