make it official - Where to get your license
Make it official
In British Columbia, you can get your marriage license at some point in the three months prior to your wedding date, at any marriage license issuer or Service BC location. Only one member of the couple is required to apply for a marriage license, but they must apply in person and show proper primary identification for both parties. Examples of proper identification include: a birth certificate, IMM/immigration form, permanent resident card or citizenship card. A passport or driver’s license is only accepted in some cases. Your license will cost you $100, and is nonrefundable. You must have at least two witnesses at your marriage ceremony, in additional to the commissioner or religious official. U.S citizen? No problem! Canada, like the U.S. has no legal residency requirement for obtaining a marriage license.
