Peer Coach Academy Colorado is proud to be a CCAR Certified Trainer for their Recovery Training Series. We offer CCAR's flagship, (5) day Recovery Coach Academy and supporting (2) day courses, Spirituality for Recovery Coaches and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches, Medication Assisted Recovery, in Colorado and throughout North America. In 2008, Faces and Voices of Recovery recognized CCAR with the first Joel Hernandez Voice of the Recovery Community Award as the outstanding recovery community organization in the country. CCAR continues to pioneer professional support and continuing education resources for recovery coaches and peer support professionals. PCA is proud to be a valued partner of CCAR and Meaningful Trainings. For nearly a decade, CCAR's Recovery Coach Academy (RCA) has been the standard for introducing the concepts of Peer Support to the recovery community. A (5) day, retreat style, workshop that offers participants a journey into a personal transformation process while setting the stage for a continuously upward arc of knowledge and professionalism in the field of Recovery Coaching. Recovery Coaching for All – Families, Friends & Colleagues, based on the original RCA, acknowledges and explores the experience of “everyone else” who

In 2013 CCAR began the introduction of support modules for their flagship RCA. The initial being Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches, a discerning traverse for the new and seasoned peer support professional. Topics include;  Reinforcement of recovery core values & principles  Ethics, Morals & Values  Peer frameworks for ethical decision-making  Individual Vs. group ethical decision-making  Define & contrast ethical terms  Contrast ethics for individuals Vs. organizational settings  Supervisory role play  Legal issues and policy creation from an ethical perspective This intensive, two day workshop presents an indepth introduction to ethical considerations. In addition it offers the recovery coach/peer professional a framework to continuously develop their ethical decision-making abilities. This critical skill set serves as a foundation for the ongoing professional development and sustainability of the recovery coach/peer support designation.

The CCAR Recovery Basics training is designed specifically for parents who want to understand and support the recovery of their children and young adults.

This new 30-hour curriculum (chronological or modular delivery available) is designed for people who wish to provide coaching support to all those affected by the addiction and/or recovery of another – first-tier family members, friends, partners, colleagues, employers, etc. Coaches are trained to help people identify, manage and meet their own recovery wellness goals independent of the addict/recoveree. Participants are encouraged to  Distinguish between addict/addiction  Define and increase fluency in the language of recovery  Delineate the roles and tools of a recovery coach  Articulate the problems, pitfalls and potential of recovery  Recognize and understand RECOVERY CAPITAL  Build capacity to perform in a recovery coach role  Discover and develop an authentic voice of recovery  Describe how relationships impact recovery coaching  Understand ethical context for recovery coaching  Practice newly acquired skills

Through a variety of interactive exercises, Recovery Basics answers many parents' FAQs, as well as provides them with practical tools to use in support of a loved one, to improve family relationships and/or apply to their own recovery. Participants are encouraged to:  Gain perspective on the impact of addiction/recovery in the life of a parent  Describe how relationships impact recovery  Define and increase fluency in the language of recovery  Build capacity to understand and support a child/young adult in his or her recovery  Practice specific skill sets key to supporting recovery  Create a learning community to advance the recognition, acceptance and support of recovery

Specific skill sets – professional boundaries, recovery wellness planning, self-disclosure, stages of change/recovery, active listening, motivational interviewing, cultural competence, systems of care, multiple pathways, advocacy As contentious as it is helpful, few disagree that spirituality is a consistent query in each individual pathway of recovery. In support of the recovery coach/peer support professional skills to facilitate, not hinder, this seeking in another, CCAR offers Spirituality for Recovery Coaches. The second support module for its flagship RCA. Topics include;  Exploration of spiritual language  Personal Vs. common beliefs  Dimensions of spirituality  Complexity of morals Vs. beliefs  Paths of a spiritual seeker  Expectations of a recovery coach  Spiritual boundaries  Agnosticism Vs. Atheism  Scared sequence of relationship  Spiritual power of stories The end of this two-day 12 hour workshop offers the participant a clear beginning as they begin to “understand how important it is to set aside their, often, deeply held spiritual views and offer support Vs. instruction as a recoveree begins to discern their own views.
