Geography Enrichment – Jaws & Claws

For the past two Fridays, Year 7 have enjoyed a visit from 'Jaws and Claws'. In their Geography lessons, the Year 7 students have been studying global biomes, including animal adaptations.

So, the Geography Department arranged for Phil from Jaws and Claws to bring an array of wild beasts from all over the world to Roedean, for the students to pet and hold. This collection included Cane Toads, Bearded Dragons, Tree Frogs, Pythons, Cockroaches, African Snails, and Red-Footed Tortoises!

As the photos show, the girls loved the opportunity to handle these exotic creatures and learn how each has adapted to survive in their ecosystems. There were squeals of both delight and fright as Phil kept introducing each creature from his seemingly bottomless bag.

Thank you to the Geography Department, and particularly to Mrs Finn for arranging these visits.

Mr Carter
