A CASE FOR SUPPORTING THE
UC COLLEGE OF LAW
For nearly two centuries, the University of Cincinnati College of Law has helped shape the role of law and justice in our society. Our distinctive approach to legal education—one that is immersive, interdisciplinary and future-focused—puts students at the center. Our internationally known programs, led by top legal faculty, make a difference in our communities. Now, as our world confronts historical inequities and new obstacles, we are building what’s next. Through Next, Now: The Campaign for Cincinnati, you can join us in this transformative time as we educate tomorrow’s leaders and engage with today’s pressing issues. We are committed to broadening our impact with a reimagined college space and new connections to big thinkers. Together, we can shape the future of legal education and scholarship, and drive positive change.
Our Distinctive Strengths: • We go beyond the classroom: The Ohio Innocence Project is one of the most active and successful innocence projects in the country. To date, it has exonerated 30 men and women. • We go beyond the border: Founded in 1979, the Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights was the first endowed institute at an American law school devoted to international human rights law. • We go beyond expectations: The College of Law is ranked #1 in Ohio for Trial Advocacy and Litigation by National Jurist. We are a community of critical thinkers and problem solvers ready to tackle the complex legal issues of an ever-changing world.

Our Next Leaders
Our mission is to prepare students, regardless of socioeconomic status or background, for what’s next—should they hope to become litigators, transactional or regulatory attorneys, or pursue public service. Through the Next, Now Campaign, we are committed to increasing the number of highly credentialed, diverse students choosing to enroll at the College of Law. To attract top students, we must offer competitive financial support. Scholarship funding empowers our students to make the biggest societal impact by allowing them to focus on what’s most important. Your support of scholarships will bring the next generation of problem-solvers to UC Law, and drive their impact for years to come.
“Scholarship funding is simply a necessity to remain competitive in the current education environment and to continue to deliver the exceptional value of a UC Law degree.” Verna Williams Dean and Nippert Professor of Law

Our Next Purpose
Whether exonerating wrongfully convicted Ohioans or representing survivors of domestic violence, our signature programs expand access to legal representation and advocate for those overlooked by the justice system. These programs are world-renowned, with significant contributions to the legal field and ties to leading firms, businesses and civic organizations. Through the Next, Now Campaign, we will amplify our existing programs and introduce new strategies for addressing the root causes of social injustice, working to change the legal system that allows such injustices to exist. When you support this mission, you promote the hallmark of UC Law: real-world learning and real-world impact.
“When you give to UC Law, know that you’re supporting meaningful work. Thanks to community support, our dedicated UC Law students and staff attorneys have been able to free 30 wrongfully convicted Ohioans who collectively served Almost 600 years behind bars for crimes they did not commit.” Mark Godsey Co-Founder & Director, Ohio Innocence Project
YOUR IMPACT You can help us expand this life-changing work through: • Visiting faculty fellows: a new program to bring today’s most innovative minds and passionate advocates to our classrooms for engaging discussion. • Our transformative new space: offering a prime location to facilitate collaborations across the university and community. • The Ohio Innocence Project: supporting tireless work to exonerate wrongly convicted people in Ohio prisons. • The Jones Center for Race, Gender, and Social Justice: driving necessary conversations and scholarship on social justice and equality.
