Water Seer :

Bostwana A new device that relies on simple condensation to collect clean water from the atmosphere promises to provide up to 11 gallons of safe drinking water without an external power source, greenhouse gas emissions, or adverse environmental impacts. What’s more, the innovative Water Seer collection device could potentially run forever, gifting generations of people with access to ‘liquid gold’ in areas of the world where a harsh climate or lack of infrastructure make access to clean drinking water a major problem. Water Seer is powered by a simple wind turbine, and the device could easily be the first step toward a sustainable, enduring solution to water shortages around the world.

Smog Tower:

China Studio Roosegaarde‘s smog-sucking vacuum tower may actually be cleaning up the air in China. The Smog Free Tower has been installed in Beijing, a city notorious for its air pollution, and the country’s Ministry of Environmental Protection recently announced the air around the tower is in fact 55 percent cleaner than it was before. According to Studio Roosegaarde, the tower has snatched billions of PM2.5 fine particles out of the polluted air. What to do with all that pollution captured by the tower? Make jewelry out of it, of course. Smog particles sucked up by the Smog Free Tower during its stint in Beijing will make 300 special Smog Free Rings

Altered philosophy Small solutions to big problems Why small solutions? Well, in order to have the greatest impact on a problem we need to reach as many people as possible. How do small do that? We believe it is hard for people to change. Therefor, the smaller the change, the bigger the potential market. And a bigger market leads to a larger potential impact on the problem. Things also need to be beautiful and well-designed. Because function is not enough. If it is not beautifully designed people will not buy it. And if it is not easy to use, they will not use it. Lastly, altering existing products – rather than having people to buy brand new ones – is simpler, more cost effective and saves resources. That’s why we are Altered.

Bee Painting :

Globally Global Message

For more than a decade, we’ve been charting how the world’s imperiled bees are in decline. We know how important bees are as pollinators, and how widely used, human-made chemicals like neonicotinoids are causing bee populations to collapse. But it can’t be completely about doom and gloom, because hope and a light at the end of the tunnel is what pulls us through when things look their darkest. Things look bad, but in the last few years we’ve witnessed a booming interest in smallscale urban beekeeping and the leveraging of new technologies to boost honeybee populations. Artists are doing their part too, like American mural artist Matt Willey, who has committed himself to painting 50,000 bees worldwide to an effort to not only raise awareness about the plight of the bees, but to also celebrate how incredible bees are.

Open Architecture :

Mexico Environment Care

A “forest” of sweet gum trees grows through openings in the concrete slabs of this house in Morelia, Mexico, by Roof Arquitectos, providing an alternative to a central courtyard (+ movie). Roof Arquitectos co-founders Rogelio Vallejo and Francisco Noriega designed the house for a plot opposite a park for client Julio Hernández and his son. When we started developing this house, we wanted to explore the architectonic and sensorial possibilities offered by a patio, containing small, nestled forests, says the architect and the owner.

Sustainable Architecture :

Concep: US

Due to Industrial Revolution, modern cities have suffered from extreme changes. There are many artificial environment and cities that humans are comforted with, but it’s not natural, it can jeopardize the balance and harmony of the environment. Re-Cover project is a futuristic sustainable skyscraper enclosure that can produce eco-friendly energy in sustainable cycle. Nowadays, more than 55% of world population live in megacities, there are more than 10 million population and it keeps increasing. Modern skyscrapers are born almost every year from that necessity to disperse dense complexity of horizontal cities, so we need to expand vertically, making more effective use of scarce land. Unfortunately, that demand is also followed by social and environmental problems where megacities continue to spend energy and resources at high rate. We need a new sustainable model for a skyscraper.

Clean Energy

Energy Resources :

Las Vegas Alternate Energy

Las Vegas is famous for its lights, bright sunny days and copious pedestrian traffic. That no doubt made it the perfect place for clean tech startup EnGoPlanet to test new LED streetlights powered by both photovoltaic panels and kinetic footstep pads. Married with a battery, the setup not only lights up the Boulder Plaza in downtown Vegas, but also powers security cameras (yep), WiFi hotspots and portable charging stations. The system uses a curvy photovoltaic panel “crest” to charge a battery that powers the energy-efficient LED streetlights at night (the company doesn’t specify the size of the panel). It’s also equipped with charging stations and WiFi hotspots. To charge the batteries at night or when the sun is behind clouds, there are the footstep-powered kinetic pads installed in pedestrian walkways. Those are connected to three micro-generators that put out 4 to 8 watts per footstep, depending on the pressure.

Natural Energy :

India Natural Energy

New Delhi-based Ant Studio made a zero-electricity air conditioner to combat the brutally hot summers in India’s capital. Built for a DEKI Electronics factory, this low-tech, energy efficient, and artistic solution to the sweltering heat harnesses the power of evaporative cooling. The innovative honeycomb-like installation is made with conical clay tubes that naturally reduce the surrounding temperature. Built as part of a larger beautification project for DEKI Electronics, the innovative cooling installation is highly functional and adds an artistic flair to the factory. The shape and size of the beehive-inspired structure’s densely packed terra-cotta cones were determined using advanced computational analysis and modern calibration techniques. When water runs down the structure—it’s sufficient to wet the cones just once or twice a day—the process of evaporation gradually lowers the air temperature. The porous terra-cotta units absorb water that then seeps to the outer surface where it evaporates and turns into cold air. The flow of water empties out into a collection basic and gives the installation a beautiful waterfall effect..

Solar Roof :

USA, Tesla Clean Energy

Tesla’s sought-after Solar Roof tiles are made of glass layered over a photovoltaic substrate, and they serve as a replacement for traditional roofing materials. This ensures they look like the “real thing” from the ground – even though they accomplish much more than a standard roof. So far, Tesla has two styles available for pre-order: a textured black glass tile and a smooth grey tile. The tuscan and slate tiles will be available for installation in early 2018. According to the company, installing a Solar Roof takes between five and seven days – and Tesla manages the entire process itself.

waterways are about to get a lot cleaner with the launch of the world’s first proSeaBin UK duction Seabin in Portsmouth harbor. The device, which was developed by a pair of Australian surfers, works by sucking in various kinds of pollution (including oil) and out clean water. The Seabin can collect approximately 1.5 kg of waste each Project: spitting day and has a capacity of 12 kg — and in a given year, a single bin can collect 20,000

plastic bottles or 83,000 plastic bags. The Seabin was first unveiled in December 2015. To fund the invention, founders Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski created an IndieGoGo campaign. With little time to spare, the campaign exceeded its goal. Equipped with $250,000, Turton and Ceglinski are now prepared to follow through with their plan, which entails cleaning up marinas with the natural fiber garbage bin and an automated, above-the-water pump. The device was designed with marine safety in mind – only debris and chemical pollution on the surface of the water is collected; fish and other aquatic creatures are left alone.
