Central College Station Main Entry Exit Building

CENTRAL COLLEGE STATION BUILDING SECTION AND PLAN

Proposed circular entry exit ancillary building is elegantly designed with a circular space frame which almost resembles filigree. The circular pattern is reflected on the floor with a circular floor pattern (Rangoli) which looks striking and rich set against a white back ground. The quality of light that filters through the skylight brings in an enhanced feeling of space. The play of light and shadow on the floor pattern is captured in the renderings .Material selection in Public areas: Granite light colored with accents of dark-Sadarelli greyetc. Column cladding of dry cladding with light colored granite Flooring pattern in inlay mosaic for circular pattern.

Proposed design of circular entry exit building by BMRC is positioned at the pivotal corner of the triangular layout of the Sealdah Main passenger terminal area.It balances the linear mass of the terminal building, and is located at visually strategic location, with the potential of a being new landmark in the city fabric.

ENTRANCE

Stone cladding and textured paint is used on Glass is used in facade and around galleries which make the facade more attractive and also make galleries accessible from multiple sides .

ENERGY SAVING It connects all the major buildings and has a green cover which compliments the character of the building. It also has space for sitting which can be utilized when using the cafeteria. Adjustable louvers have been provided at the southern face to shade the windows from the southern sun. .

A sustainable and energy efficient model of the building ensures that the building has a very small carbon footprint and also it is supported by a very efficient system for capturing the sun's energy and it also have bio gas plant.

A very liberal use of mesh or “jaalis has been done so as to provide adequate ventilation and also serve as an aesthetic element blending the past traditions of mughal architecture with the modern elements.

GREENOVATION A green roof to compensate for the vegetation cut during the construction of the center. Planters have been provided at various places to increase the space for planting plants. T h e sky walk corridor serves the dual purpose of providing a corridor space below and a green path above.

COURTYARD The central courtyard gives the space a very lively character and also serves as a light well. It provides natural light to all the spaces inside the building and make the environment very pleasing and appropriate for learning.

EXPERIENCE Inspiriring creative thoughts there should be a versality in the design hence the design is kept very simple.

INCLUSIVITY The spaces must be colourful and children friendly they must also teach the children to apprecate nature at its fullest and to respect it.

CLIMATOLOGICAL EFFICIENCY Maximum daylight efficiency of class rooms modules by facing them to the north and east direction.

Maximum rainwater must be harvested especially during month of july and august.

Maximum utilization of solar power Orient pitched roof

All the spaces are well connected with wide corridors shaded with bamboo Covering

Why?

How?

To raise the standard of education among the villagers or underdeveloped area near by haridwar . As it a paradise for nature loves but the kind of monotonous structures threatens the town so a purely sustainable traditional green approach is requires to set an example for others.

School through its design and construction can reconfigure the architecture in Haridwar and near by region. The children can learn to appreciate the nature w and energy from the school and hence inspire and educate the community.

SITE SELECTION

SECTION

Recreational area is provided at the center which support different activities mid day meal, open learning, playing, assembly.

PLANNING CONCEPTS

MULTIPURPOSE HALL: Located in the centre, easily accessible, can also be used for mid-day meal.(brick jail)

TOILET BLOCK

Playground: Disconnected yet integrate with the recreational area.

CORRIDOR: Runs throught the school, covered With bamboo, aesthetic element. and a connection between different bocks

CONTEXTUAL AND AESTHETIC IMPACT: The newly shaded landscape creates a platform for meeting, learning and teaching with multiple fields. The buildings have not only an educational effect. The simple design concept ensures the architectural aesthetics in detail by using low-cost, economicallyconstructive design, without any intricate details that cannot be learnt by locals. Well blended in environment of Haridwar.

LIBRARY

Classroom for secondary section (48 m sq. can occupies 40-50 students ) .and large area mutual shaded space created by class room blocks

CENTER COURT SPACE: Nursery Block: Located separated so as to reduce disturbances.

ENTRY: The entrance symbolizes a strong axial character, gives easy access to various sections of the school.

Playing area: Contains swings, slides and other playing equipments.

The bamboo space frame covered with “khaprail” heaving a span of 20 m the truss help in keeping the courtyard shaded ,characterizing the cool breeze from north (ganga) . It provide a assembly space for student where they can play , eat , do any group activity overall provide incusivity to the school .

CHILD SPECIFIC DESIGN: Ÿ Design a space according to the needs of children,

simple relationship between spaces and form. Ÿ Encourages outdoor practical learning (void in

between two class room provide semi open space ). Ÿ All area are around a large multi activity shaded area

which create as whole a interesting environment. Ÿ Black boards for writing in center open space

encourage informal learning.

N

Rain water harvesting: >Rainwater, available in plenty, used for watering plants and playground. >Estimated 1300kl of rainwater available every year.
