As a permanent tribute to Director of Athletics Mal Moore’s lifetime contributions to The University of Alabama, the Board of Trustees of The University of Alabama officially dedicated the facility formerly known as the Football Building as the Mal M. Moore Athletic Facility on March 28, 2007. Normally, the naming of a building in your honor would serve as a fitting end to an outstanding career, but Mal Moore’s ongoing vision remains focused on two primary objectives: elevating athletic facilities at the Capstone to premier status nationally for all sports and making all Crimson Tide athletic teams competitive at the highest level nationally. Moore’s distinguished record of service to UA began over 50 years ago when he joined the Crimson Tide football squad as a scholarship player for Coach Paul “Bear” Bryant from 1958-62. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1963 and a master’s in secondary education in 1962. Moore has the distinction of earning seven national championship rings during his career as a player and coach, the first as a member of the Crimson Tide’s 1961 national championship team. During his coaching tenure, Moore served as Coach Bryant’s graduate assistant in 1964, then as defensive backfield coach for five years beginning in 1965 before becoming quarterbacks coach from 1971-1982, and taking on additional responsibility as the Tide’s first offensive coordinator in 1975. He is the only individual connected with the Alabama coaching staffs, both past and present, to be a part of seven national championships (1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, and 1992). After coaching stops at Montana State, Notre Dame and the NFL’s St. Louis and Phoenix Cardinals, Moore returned to Alabama, and was named assistant athletics director in 1993 and associate director for external affairs in 1994. He was named director of athletics on Nov. 23, 1999. Three elements of his story make Mal Moore deserving of a special place in UA athletics history. First, he has been a part of seven national championship football teams (as a player and coach). Second, he’s been the leader who brought the UA athletic program into the 21st century in terms of facilities and staffing. Third and, perhaps most importantly, his love for the University of Alabama is unsurpassed. Now in his 11th year as the Tide’s Director of Athletics, Moore made an indelible mark on one of the nation’s most storied athletic programs. Alabama’s athletic teams have excelled in competition and he directed completion of a $125 million facilities campaign that revitalized the Crimson Tide’s athletic facilities. Moore’s leadership, vision and initiative enabled the monumental project to reach fruition. Alabama football competes in the newly expanded Bryant-Denny Stadium which holds
10
92,138 fans, the eighth-largest on campus facility in the nation. With the north end zone expansion completed, this magnificent edifice now houses 120 skyboxes, a new home team locker room, a club level area hosting 1,680 patrons, a new administrative level and approximately 6,800 additional upper deck seats. Moore has also spearheaded the next expansion of Bryant-Denny Stadium that got underway in the spring of 2009. The South End Zone expansion, expected to be finished for the 2010 season, will increase seating to over 101,000 with the addition of more than 9,000 seats and 36 skyboxes. The project also will include new offices for the Crimson Tide Foundation, a food market & merchandise store, and two new video boards on the corners of the upper deck. Moore’s tenure at UA has been marked by unprecedented facility growth for the athletic department but he has also had a national impact as a key member of several prestigious NCAA and college football committees. Moore currently serves on the NCAA Division I Football Issues Committee, the SEC Athletic Directors Bowl Advisory Committee and on the Big Six Conferences Minority Coaches Forum. Alabama student-athletes utilize new stadiums for soccer and tennis and football enjoys use of a state-of-the-art weight facility, locker room and sports medicine area and a Hall of Champions and administrative area that makes it one of top venues in the nation. Crimson Tide student-athletes also benefit from a state-ofthe-art academic center completed in early 2005. Also completed in 2005 was a $22 million renovation of Coleman Coliseum. Under Moore’s direction Alabama’s athletic teams have produced a number of Southeastern Conference titles, including men’s basketball, gymnastics, baseball, men’s cross country, men’s golf and softball and SEC tournament titles in both baseball and softball, and an NCAA gymnastics title. Alabama athletes have earned some of the highest honors the SEC and NCAA have to offer, including SEC Athlete of the Year, SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, NCAA Top VIII, NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships and NCAA Sportsperson of the Year. These honors are over and above the individual conference and national titles that Alabama athletes continue to bring home to the Capstone. During his tenure, Moore has also supervised the completion of a number of other facility projects, highlighted by the expansion of Sewell-Thomas Stadium; new lighting systems for Coleman Coliseum and the women’s soccer field and installation of new artificial turf in the Hank Crisp Indoor Practice Facility. Hired on November 23, 1999, Moore’s stint as Director of Athletics is the latest phase of service to the Capstone. Well known in athletic circles, Moore stewards a vision of championships and success via his vast experience in
collegiate athletics. As a player and coach at Alabama, Moore was part of seven national championships, 14 SEC championships, and 27 bowl trips. Alabama capitalized on that background, and Moore’s popularity, by naming him as Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs in 1994, a position that required constant travel to speaking engagements around the Southeast. Throughout his multi-faceted career, Moore has worked with a diversified field of constituents, from fellow coaches to former players, to fans and the business community. All those experiences and relationships made him the ideal person to lead Alabama athletics into the 21st century. A 1963 graduate of The University of Alabama, Moore holds both an undergraduate degree in Sociology and a 1964 Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the Capstone. Coaching football for 31 years, 22 of those at Alabama, provided Moore with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the world of college athletics. Alabama won national championships, in 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979 and 1992 with Moore coordinating all the offensive plays for the last four of those championship teams. Moore was born December 19, 1939, in Dozier, Ala. He has been married to the former Charlotte Davis of Tuscaloosa since July 20, 1968. They have one daughter, Mrs. Steve (Heather) Cook of Scottsdale, Ariz., a granddaughter, Anna Lee, and a grandson, Charles Cannon.

“Our players have established a tradition of excelling in the classroom. We can guarantee academic success here with the resources that are available to the student-athletes and with the way we approach the recruiting process. We are committed to bringing in not just great soccer players, but great students as well. We want well-rounded young ladies in our program. The resources at Bryant Hall for the student-athletes are first class. From the beginning everything is in place to ensure they get off to a good start. Then every step of the way they get assistance with personal growth and development in and out of the classroom all the way to graduation and beyond.” TODD BRAMBLE

IN THE COMMUNITY The Crimson Tide’s volunteer activities include ... • Read Across America • Girl Scouts of Tuscaloosa • Relay For Life • West Alabama Food Bank Canned Food Drive • Beat Auburn Beat Hunger “Not only does our team reap the benefits of being actively involved, but we are often granted the chance to show a young impressionable mind what the University of Alabama has to offer. While we came here to be a part of a soccer team, through services to our local supporters, we have all become proud members of a community.” - Brooke Rogers
SEC COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM
The Crimson Tide soccer team regularly gives back to the city of Tuscaloosa and the surrounding areas through various community service programs. Alabama student-athletes take time out of their hectic schedules to read to children, speak at local churches or to just stop by a hospital to brighten the day of patients.
"Alabama soccer has made a conscious effort to always maintain a special dedication to serving our community and supporters as much as possible. We greatly value the time that we have to spend with different programs in our community that include local schools, Girl Scouts, and youth sports organizations, as well state and nation-wide fundraisers.” BROOKE ROGERS

The Southeastern Conference’s sustained growth, combined with increasing exposure on the national and regional scene, has SEC women's soccer looking to blossom to new heights in 2009 and well beyond. The Southeastern Conference has continued its rise as one of the top conferences in women's soccer. The 2008 women's soccer season reaffirmed the SEC's prominence in the country. Six teams from the SEC were invited to the NCAA Tournament. Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee all made the 64-team field. The six teams combined for a record of 3-6 with the Gators advancing to the third round. The SEC now has a 44-53-8 (.457) NCAA Tournament record in 56 appearances. SEC women's soccer will begin its 17th season in the year of 2009 deeply rooted in the national scene of collegiate soccer. Since the SEC initiated women's soccer as a varsity sport in 1993, the sport's popularity has grown through the country and especially in the Southeast. A defining point in the SEC's women's soccer success came in 1995 when FOX Sports South broadcasted the SEC Tournament Championship match between Alabama and Kentucky on a tape-delayed basis, signifying the first appearance of an SEC women's soccer match on television. Southeastern Conference women's soccer continued to grow over the next couple of years as the conference made a name for itself nationally. In 1998, the SEC had its breakout season with Florida winning the conference's first NCAA title in women's soccer in just the program's fourth year of existence. The league led the nation with six NCAA Tournament teams that year, an accomplishment which firmly inserted the SEC as one the major conferences in women's soccer. The SEC also made bigger strides in its television coverage with three regular season matches and the SEC Tournament championship match shown live on the SEC-TV package. In 2003, the SEC Soccer Tournament moved to a neutral site in Orange Beach, Alabama, signifying the growth of the sport’s popularity. In 2006, SEC-TV's women's soccer coverage was increased to four regularseason matches, in addition to the SEC Tournament championship match.
In 2008, the SEC boasted ... • Two NSCAA Scholar All-Americans • Six programs earning NSCAA/adidas College Team Academic Awards • Four All-Americans • 14 student-athletes on the NSCAA All-Region teams • Four Soccer Buzz Freshman All-Americans • Two teams advancing to the postseason for the 13th time in the past 14 seasons • Two CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic AllAmericans • 14 CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic AllDistrict picks • Three Top Drawer National Team of the Season members and one Top Drawer All-Rookie Team selection.

Victoria Frederick has posed a threat to opposing defenders ever since she set foot on campus. One of the fastest strikers in the conference Frederick is a threat to find the back of the net in a moment’s notice.
26
Brooke Rogers and Victoria Frederick lead the Tide’s group of strikers as the leading returning scorers with three goals each in 2008. Rogers paced the squad in SEC play with three goals and also led the team with eight points in conference games. After a successful sophomore campaign, Rogers looks to factor heavily into Alabama’s offensive attack in 2009. Rogers became the first member of the Crimson Tide to earn all-conference accolades since Libby Probst was tabbed to the second team in 2004. Frederick totaled 10 points in 2008 and was one of four players to lead the team with four assists. She also paced the squad with 21 shots on goal. The Huntsville native has been participating in W-League action over the summer for the Toronto Lady Lynx and was named to the Team of the Week by the United Soccer League for the sixth week of competition. Also returning to the offensive front from last year’s team is senior Kelsey King who netted two goals and added four assists in 2008. King’s leadership and experience will be a necessity for the Crimson Tide in 2009. Alabama will be adding four freshmen to the offensive front in 2009 and they all will be pushing for playing time. With a nice mixture of veterans and newcomers up front Bramble looks to shake things up a bit and shift the offensive philosophy to more of an attacking game and less conservative play. “We approached most of our games last year by putting a lot of people behind the ball – kind of a defense-first approach that brought the success we needed to have last year, but certainly that’s not the long-term plan here,” Bramble explained. “We want to be able to dictate the tempo of the game by out possessing teams.” FORWARDS PLAYER

2009 P R E V I E W With her great vision and knack for cashing in on set pieces, Rosaly Petriello is poised for a big junior season.
28
After graduating the bulk of the midfield following the 2008 season, there are spots up for grabs in the middle of the field for this year’s team. Rosaly Petriello played in 19 games and made 18 starts for the Tide in 2008 as a sophomore and will be relied on again this season. Petriello accumulated seven points on the year and scored two goals, both of which came in SEC play. Bramble also has high aspirations for junior Kelly King, who figures to play a role in the middle of the field and become a player that can be relied on to log long minutes. Shannon Lathrop will also add some valuable experience to the midfield in 2009. Lathrop played in 16 games and made three starts as a true freshman in 2008 where she scored a goal and assisted on another. The Tide welcomes King’s younger sister, Tia, who, according to Bramble, is a center-midfield-type personality that can help with ball possession. Bramble also has high hopes for newcomer Josie Rix from Chattanooga, Tenn. “We are excited that we are returning Rosie, who had a great spring,” Bramble said. “Rosie brings a lot of personality in there, as well as creativity and flair. She’s not just a robotic, possession-type player, but she is unpredictable and good on free kicks too, so we need her on the field.”

2009 P R E V I E W One of the most athletic players on the field and a proven leader, Alex Butera looks to close out her Alabama career as the force in the center of the Crimson Tide back line.
30
With a core group of veterans returning on defense, Bramble looks for senior Alex Butera and junior Carly Mygrants to hold down starting jobs and lead the Tide’s defense that had eight shutouts in 2008. After starting their careers at Alabama as members of the offense, Mygrants and Butera have emerged as a steady force on defense. The remaining positions on defense are up for grabs and as many as six players will be competing for those spots. Bramble sees junior Hailey Hull and sophomore Veronika Wolfkeil as potential candidates along with four freshmen to add to the competition. “We have veterans in the back that certainly we’re going to be relying on,” Bramble said. “Carly has really done a great job transitioning from being an attacking player to solidifying a spot as left back for us.” “Alex is really, really key in that she’s a senior, she’s a good athlete, she understands the game, she’s good on the ball, but more importantly she’s a leader on the field for us and she has really embraced that role,” Bramble said of one of his only two seniors. “Her communication skills are really important for the players that play in front of her to hear her voice and for her to do a good job of organizing our team.” “I see that being a fierce competition in preseason,” said Bramble of the empty spots. “The competition there will be really interesting to see how that unfolds during preseason.”

After taking a year away from the collegiate ranks to play internationally with Team Canada at the U-20 World Cup in Chile, Justine Bernier returns for her sophomore season in between the pipes.
2009 P R E V I E W 32
After taking a year off from action with the Crimson Tide to play for Team Canada at the U-20 World Cup in Chile, Justine Bernier returns for her sophomore year of collegiate action. In her freshman year at the Capstone, Bernier rewrote the Alabama record books with 145 saves which ranks first all-time in the UA single-season annals and fourth all-time in the SEC. “It’s great to have her back with three years left to play,” Bramble said. “She got tremendous experience last year being able to represent her country in the fall in a world championship event. She had a very good summer and went to the same W-League team as Victoria Frederick, so we’re looking for her to come back and be sharp right from the start of preseason.” Bramble also welcomed newcomer Laura Nicholls to the depth chart at goalkeeper over the spring. Nicholls will be in her sophomore year and looks to add quality depth. “Laura is someone that we added this spring and she’s really done a great job of coming in, working hard, and getting up to the speed at the Division I level. We feel good about our core of goalkeepers coming back.”

In just his first season at the helm of the Crimson Tide, Todd Bramble immediately made his mark. Bramble led Alabama to a 9-9-2 overall record and a 4-6-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play. The four wins were the most by any Alabama team since 2004 and the four victories in the first seven games of the conference slate was the most since 1998. Alabama also earned its first appearance at the SEC Tournament since 2004. Alabama made an incredible transformation on the defensive end as the Crimson Tide posted eight shutouts, including a school-record six clean sheets to start the home slate. The eight shutouts rank third all-time at Alabama and ranked second in the league during the 2008 campaign. Individually, Brooke Rogers became the first Alabama player to earn all-conference accolades since 2004, being named to the second team. Nine players under the watch of Bramble posted career years, including seniors Kailey Corken and Jessica Deegan. Corken paced the Tide with 17 points on seven goals and three assists while Deegan capped off her career with four goals and four assists. Bramble took over the Crimson Tide after a successful seven-year stint as head coach at Clemson University. "Todd's record of on-field achievement and success in the classroom made him a standout candidate for our job at Alabama," UA Director of Athletics Mal Moore said upon Bramble's hiring. "Todd has a proven resume of consistent success and is a good fit to lead our program to the next level. He's a proven evaluator of talent, a strong recruiter, and a hard worker who will field a tough, smart, competitive team." During Bramble's tenure at the helm of the program, he took the Lady Tigers to the NCAA Tournament every season reaching the NCAA Elite Eight once and the NCAA Sweet 16 twice. In addition, his teams have finished in the top 25 nationally five times and have placed in the top three in the Atlantic Coast Conference three times. Bramble had an 80-51-17 overall record and did not have a losing season at Clemson. "It's a tremendous honor to be joining such a prestigious academic institution and an athletic department with a rich tradition of success," Bramble said. "Alabama made such a strong impression on me and my wife that the opportunity from a professional standpoint and being able to move our family to the Tuscaloosa community was impossible to pass up." In 2007, Bramble led Clemson to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight year advancing to the second round before falling to 15thranked Tennessee, 1-0. The Tigers posted a 10-6-5 record with victories over 23rd-ranked Long Beach State and seventh-ranked South Carolina. Bramble's Tigers played nine ranked teams in 2007 and posted an impressive 8-2-1 home record. Three Tigers earned All-ACC honors and two players were recognized as ESPN the Magazine Academic AllDistrict. Bramble has 18 career wins over top 25 teams
including two top-five wins on the road in 2004 when the Tigers won at fourth-ranked Texas and fifth-ranked Texas A&M. It marked the first time in 20 years, since the men's soccer team did it in 1984, that a Clemson program defeated top-five teams in consecutive road games. Bramble served as the top assistant under Clemson head men's soccer coach Trevor Adair from 1995-99. The Tigers had three top-12 seasons and reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals twice and the Sweet 16 three times in those five seasons. The 1998 team finished with a 22-2 overall record and a number-one final regular season national ranking and won the ACC Championship that season. Prior to being an assistant men's coach at Clemson, Bramble also served under Adair as an assistant at Brown University in Providence, R.I. from 1991-94. The 1994 Brown team advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. Prior to joining Clemson as the head women's coach, Bramble was the head coach of the men's soccer program at Butler University in Indianapolis for the 2000 season. Bramble has also coached at the international level, where he was an assistant coach for the United States under-17 national team that competed in the World Championships in 1999. Bramble received a degree in business management from Mercer University in Macon, Ga., in 1995. He was an all-conference goalkeeper at Mercer before spending one year in the National Professional Soccer League with the Memphis Rogues (1989-90). The native of Atlanta, Ga., is married to the former Cindy Rivard. The couple has two children: Cole (7) and Morgan (5). In 2007, Bramble led Clemson to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh straight year advancing to the second round before falling to Southeastern Conference foe 15th-ranked Tennessee, 1-0. The Tigers posted a 10-6-5 record with victories over 23rd-ranked Long Beach State and seventh-ranked South Carolina. Bramble's Tigers played nine ranked teams in 2007 and posted an impressive 8-2-1 home record. Three Tigers earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference and two players were recognized as ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District. The 2006 Tigers reached the NCAA Elite Eight and were ranked in a tie for 14th in the final NSCAA poll. Bramble's team achieved an NCAA Tournament first in 2006 when the team advanced three consecutive matches in tournament play by winning penalty kicks, tying Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State and Stanford in regulation before advancing on penalty kicks in all three matches. The Lady Tigers recorded two wins over top 25 teams, including a 2-1 victory over ninth-ranked Wake Forest at Riggs Field. The team finished the season with an
11-8-5 overall record and four Lady Tigers earned All-ACC accolades in 2006. During the 2005 season, Clemson finished with a 9-9-2 overall record and participated in the NCAA Tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C. That year then unranked Clemson recorded two upsets over top-12 teams, sixth-ranked Duke and 12th-ranked Wake Forest. Three Lady Tigers were named to the All-ACC Second Team. In 2004, Clemson finished with a 10-8-2 record overall and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th straight season in the program's history. Five players were named All-ACC as Clemson ranked 25th in the final Soccer America poll. In 2003, the Lady Tigers finished with an 11-7-2 overall record, a 10th straight berth in the NCAA Tournament and a final NSCAA ranking of 17th. Four Clemson players were selected to the All-ACC team and Courtney Foster was named a First-Team Freshman
All-American by Soccer Buzz magazine. In 2002, Bramble guided the Lady Tigers to a 14-8 record overall and another NCAA appearance. The Lady Tigers reached the championship of the ACC Tournament that season. Delilah Arrington was named the ACC's Player-of-the-Year and an NSCAA All-American. Three Lady Tigers were named to the All-ACC team and Clemson was ranked 14th in the final NSCAA poll. In his first season in 2001, Bramble led the Lady Tigers to a 15-5-1 record overall and an 11thplace final national ranking. Clemson also advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fifth time in program history. Katie Carson was named a Third-Team AllAmerican by the NSCAA and three Clemson players were named to the All-ACC team.

A former assistant coach and player at Clemson for Alabama head coach Todd Bramble, Tatum Clowney joined the Crimson Tide staff as assistant coach in December of 2007. Clowney enters her second season on the Crimson Tide bench alongside Bramble. Clowney is involved in every aspect of the program, including scouting opponents and day-to-day operations. Off the field, her main responsibilities include evaluating and recruiting players and video analysis. "Having Tatum join me on the Alabama staff is extremely important to our transition here," Bramble said. "Her familiarity with my philosophies will enhance my belief that organization and attention to detail are imperative to the success of the student-athletes on and off the field." Clowney, who also was an assistant coach at Charleston Southern University (2004-05) in Charleston, S.C., and at Converse College (2003) in Spartanburg, S.C., continues a long association with Bramble that dates to her playing days at Clemson. Clowney spent two seasons as a full-time assistant under Bramble at Clemson. She was a volunteer assistant for Bramble and the Tigers in 2006 and was promoted to a full-time position for the 2007 season. Clowney played for the Tigers from 1998 through 2001, when Bramble was an assistant coach for the men's team (through 1998) and was the head coach of the Tigers her last season of action (2001). "In all the various responsibilities that are thrown at assistant coaches, she is competent at everything," Bramble said. "She relates well with the players, is a great mentor, understands tactics and can teach technique. Tatum is on the fast-track in this profession and I am fortunate to be able to have her on my staff during this crucial period that will determine the success we have in the future." "The opportunity to continue my coaching career with Todd Bramble was an important factor behind my decision to join the staff at Alabama," said Clowney. "I was very excited to join an institution with such a rich athletic tradition, topnotch facilities and great university support. The atmosphere in Tuscaloosa provides the same type of family atmosphere that our coaching staff seeks to build with our team." Clowney has enjoyed a high level of success as both player and a coach. She was a member of the Clemson team from 1998-2001, a period during which the Lady Tigers had some of their most successful seasons, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 all four years, reaching the Elite Eight twice (1999 and 2000) and winning the only ACC regular season title in program history in 2000. Clemson finished that season ranked fifth nationally in the final NSCAA poll. Clowney scored 10 goals and recorded 18 assists during her career. The 18 assists in 77 career games ranks ninth in Clemson history. Clowney was named the team's Most Improved Player as a sophomore in 1999. She was named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2001 and 2002. Clowney also received the ACC Top Six Award for her dedication to community service. Clowney was a member of the Region III South Team that won a gold medal in the 2001 Olympic Festival in Chicago, Ill., and was a member of the National "B" team player pool in 2001. She played professionally for the Charlotte Speed in 1999 and the Atlanta Classics in 2000 and 2001. Clowney also has been a standout as a coach and recruiter. In two years at Charleston Southern she helped bring in that program's most decorated recruiting class ever. Soccer Buzz ranked the 2005 Buccaneers' recruiting class as the best in the Big South Conference and ranked the group in the top 25 regionally. While in Charleston, Clowney also coached the Mount Pleasant Soccer Club team. Clowney has served on the coaching staff for the state of South Carolina's Olympic Development Program team for the last four years and has also coached for the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) and the Clemson-Anderson Soccer Alliance (CASA). A native of Greenville, S.C., and a graduate of Eastside High School, Clowney was named all-state three times during her high school career and was the South Carolina State Player-of-the-Year twice (1996 and 1997). Clowney graduated from Clemson with honors in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. In 2005, she earned a Master's degree in Education from Charleston Southern.

University of Alabama head women’s soccer coach Todd Bramble announced on June 3, 2009 the hiring of Jason Lowe to complete his 2009 coaching staff. Lowe most recently served as an assistant coach at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga. “Jason brings a broad range of experience from which our program will benefit,” Bramble said. “Certainly our goalkeepers will continue to improve through his training, but his abilities aren’t just limited to that area. He has a great mind for the game, is passionate and is a tremendous addition to the university community.” “I want to thank head coach Todd Bramble and the athletic department for giving me this unbelievable opportunity,” Lowe said. “I am honored and excited to become a part of a university with such a prestigious athletics history. After hearing his vision for Alabama soccer and seeing the first class resources that the athletic department has put in place for the program, I knew I wanted to be a part of what he and assistant coach Tatum Clowney were building here in Tuscaloosa.” Lowe concluded his second season with the Emory women’s soccer program as the team’s goalkeeper coach. Under his direction Lowe guided first-year starter Sarah Wilkerson to a NSCAA/adidas All-South Region selection. Wilkerson’s 0.544 overall GAA was the 23rd-lowest in Division III in 2008, and the eighth-lowest single season average in school history. During his first season with the Eagles, he helped senior goalkeeper Emily Fedeles achieve First Team All-UAA honors, an eighth-ranking nationally in goals against average (0.33) and a tenth-national ranking in Save Percentage (0.894). Emory reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008 and the ‘Sweet 16’ in 2007. Lowe has served as the Director of Goalkeeping for Tophat Soccer Club since 2006. In that time the club’s goalkeepers have lead their respective teams to four Georgia State Championships, two Region III Premier League Championships and seven appearances at the 2007 Southern Regional Championships. In 2008, Lowe was the head coach of the Tophat 07 Gold (U19) team that won the Georgia State Championship and reached the Regional Finals. He began coaching with the Twin City Youth Soccer Association in 2000 where he coached the 88, 86, and 85 Lady Twins in addition to training the club’s goalkeepers. He then moved to Connecticut where he was a staff coach with the Connecticut Football Club and coached the U12, U13 and U14 CFC Wolves until he moved to Atlanta in 2005. Lowe graduated in 1998 from Wake Forest University with a degree in business and was a goalkeeper on the men’s soccer team. He returned to Winston-Salem in 2000 and earned his MBA at the Babcock Graduate School of Management in 2002.
