PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa, 26 September 2016 - The 2016 Continental Tyre High Schools Quiz in Nelson Mandela Bay - tagged on social media as #ContiQuiz - took place at Victoria Park High School recently with 20 teams doing friendly trivia battle for bragging rights and great prizes. The tough questions posed by Quizmaster Daron Mann from Algoa fm covered topics such as South African History, Science & Nature, Art & Literature and Current Affairs, as well as a category dedicated exclusively to road and tyre safety through the Continental Tyre Vision Zero initiative. Eventual winners on the night were the team from Pearson High School with Grey High finishing in 2nd place and DF Malherbe in 3rd. The winners won a brand new set of Continental tyres for one of their school vehicles plus R6 000 in cash towards prizes for their school’s end-of-year Prizegiving. In addition, each team member also received R1 000 in cash. The team finishing 2nd each earned R500 for themselves plus R5 000 towards their school’s end-of-year Prizegiving whilst those finishing 3rd each received R250 per team member plus R4 000 towards their school’s end-of-year Prizegiving. Afterwards, Continental Tyre National Marketing Manager Mr Niel Langner paid tribute to the winners as well as every other team that participated in the event and said he wished to see it grow to include an entry for every single school in Nelson Mandela Bay. He was also hopeful of extending it to the rest of South Africa. “You are the future leaders of this country and thus very important to us. We need you to get a good education AND be safe on the roads. An initiative like our Continental Tyre Schools Quiz is just one of the ways that we try and encourage this” he said.
