It is movie-time

We have found a very human one for this month. It appeals to me, somehow. Ever heard of Henry Edward Ernest Victor Bliss, 4th Baron Bliss? Ever heard of Belize? There should be a few nods here, I hope. Inspired by Wiki, btw. Baron Bliss was actually born Henry Edward Ernest Victor de Burrito and came from UK. His father inherited the country estate of his uncle, but his father had to change his name from Alridge to Bliss to get the estate. Now he could get another estate from another part of the family (Colonel Carlo Antonio Barreto of the Kingdom of Spain) if he would change his name to Barreto. More changing of names! But back to the story.

Our Henry was hit by polio in 1911, but survived and became rather wealthy. After WWI he bought himself a sailing yacht and set out for Caribbean. Unfortunately he was diagnosed terminally ill in 1926 and not much time left. So, he set up a foundation for the benefit of the citizens of the country of Belize (at that time British Honduras). The amount at that time was 1 Million pounds. It has funded things like the Bliss School of Nursing, art, museums and many more things. 9 March (date of his Death) is now a public holiday in Belize named Bliss Day. But: Baron Bliss never managed to set foot in Belize, time was too short for him and he died on his yacht. He is buried near the sea and near to the lighthouse.
