WELCOME FROM THE INTERNATIONAL CAREERS FESTIVAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Honorable Participants, It is my privilege to extend my warm welcome to all of you to the Rome Model United Nations 2016 and it is my honor to serve as Executive Director for the first International Festival dedicated to young people and International careers. My name is Daniela Conte, and I am the President of the Giovani nel Mondo Association. We are a non-profit, independent, non-political, and non-sectarian organization. The Association pursues educational and cultural purposes of both a national and an international nature. Giovani nel Mondo primarily addresses young people between eighteen and thirty years of age in order to support them in their pursuits and growth – academically, professionally and socio-culturally.
The Giovani nel Mondo Association launched RomeMUN for the first time in 2009, and we are very proud to say that our conference, in just a few years, has became one of the biggest and most prestigious MUN conferences in the world. RomeMUN is the conference with the largest number of scholarships and grants awarded to participants and this year we have decided to boost your experience to a new level, organizing a four-day International Careers Festival. Our aim is to create innovative activities focused on “learning by doing”, in order to truly give participants the practical skills needed in the competitive world of International Careers. The idea is to create a network among brilliant young people, NGOs and international institutions.
The International Careers Festival is such a valuable experience, where you are not only learning about major issues around the world while honing your research, public speaking and decision-making skills but, more importantly, developing a network of contacts and life-long friends.
With that beingsaid, it is my pleasure to once again welcome you all to the Rome Model United Nations 2016!
Sincerely, Dr. Daniela Conte Executive Director

ROME BUSINESS GAME - CONFERENCE AGENDA “YOUTH AND FUTURE GLOBAL CHALLENGES”
The Rome Business Game originated from the family of RomeMUN, one of the most prestigious MUN simulations in Europe that every year gathers more than 1,000 university students from all around the world to discuss the most crucial issues in our society within the field of Diplomacy and International Relations. The last decade has experienced a turning point in the economic and financial panorama of our society, with a global crisis that still has not ceased to mirror its effects on the markets and the lives of many. Companies at large had to review their strategies, taking into account the reduction in consumption and new budgetary constraints, but not all of them succeeded and survived this phase. It is under the light of this challenging environment that we at Giovani del Mondo decided to create an event catered to the business world that could leverage on the expertise we have gained from RomeMUN to empower business students with a chance to challenge themselves with real life business cases, confronting some of today’s most important managerial decision-making choices in the wonderful setting of Roma Capitale

MESSAGE TO INTERNATIONAL CAREERS FESTIVAL THE SECRETARY GENERAL
Your participation in this Model Un comes at a time of opportunity and risk for the human family. We are the first generation that can end extreme poverty - yet people and the planet face the rising pressures of a warming climate, growing inequality and exploitation from mines to fields to factory floor. The United Nations works every day, around the clock, across the world, to confront today’s emergencies while building foundations of peace for tomorrow. We are feeding the hungry, fighting disease and pressing for a nuclear-weapon-free world. We are strengthening peacekeeping, peacebuilding and preventive diplomacy as well as our tools for justice and accountability. Our sights are also set on the key year of 2015: the deadline for achieving the Millennium Development Goals, reaching an agreement on climate change and adopting a bold vision for the period beyond 2015 that will advance economic growth, social progress and environmental stewardship. These plans are ambitious. We need people to make them real. That means you. I count on you to use the negotiating skills you learn in this Model UN exercise to help navigate the real-world challenges we face. I encourage you to join forces with like-minded individuals and groups to generate change and promote mutual tolerance, understanding and respect. I also hope you will link to the United Nations through our Twitter and Facebook accounts. Technology has globalized communications. Now we have to globalize compassion and citizenship. In a world that is more connected, we must be more united. With our fates ever more entwined, our future must be one of ever deeper and wider cooperation. That is the global logic of our times. I look forward to the contributions you will make to our shared work for peace, development and human rights. Please accept my best wishes for a memorable experience. Ban Ki Moon

Giovani nel Mondo is a non-profit organization, a group organized for purposes other than generating profit. No part of the organization's income is distributed to its members, directors, or officers. Giovani nel Mondo aims to promote the internationalization of young students. This means that none of the conference fees or accommodation fees generate profit or income for the administrative or volunteer staff. You may be interested in how your fees are spent, and the effective cost of the simulation. You also may be surprised to learn how much of your participation expenses are covered by our sponsors. Since the accommodation fee is € 250.00 (which includes 4 nights at the 3 or 4**** hotel in a double/triple room, breakfasts, and shuttle services back and forth from the conference venues), it’s pretty clear that the accommodation fees are used solely for accommodation purposes. In fact, on average, the cheapest double room in an average standard hotel in Rome costs around €105.00 per person, per night. Regarding participation to the conference, the effective costs per person are the following: 25% meals 25% conference rooms 10% conference facilities (technical equipment) 20% materials (shoppers, conference programmes, pens, didactic material, awards, certificates, etc.) 20% conference staff (coverage of staff expenses (flight, accommodation, and meals). The Association is able to function to its full potential thanks to its sponsors, donors and contributors. At least another € 150.00 per delegate is required to cover all costs generated (the cost for our office, internet, telephones, website and website manager, printed materials for RomeMUN promotion, assistance for RomeMUN delegates) during the 8 months of preparation for RomeMUN.
So the total cost for each delegate actually falls around € 400.00 per person. Moreover, we remind you that Giovani nel Mondo covers partially, or in full, the participation of around dozens scholarship winners thanks to our fundraising activities for general expenses of € 70,000.
