Resolution adopted by the General Assembly Sponsors: Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam, Royal Government of Cambodia, Canada, Luxemburg, the Republic of India, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Republic of Singapore, South Africa, Somalia, the Republic of Korea, the United States of America, Viet Nam, Cote d’Ivore, Ethiopia and Mozambique Signatories: Afghanistan, Fiji, Indonesia, Lao, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Djibouti, France, Bhutan, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Japan, Argentina, Micronesia, Yemen, Costa Rica, Mexico, Slovakia, Russia, Burkina Faso and Uzbekistan An integrated approach to follow up the Millennium Development Goal 1c: Halve the proportion of people who suffer from hunger The General Assembly, Recalling the United Nations (UN) Millennium Declaration of 2000 Resolution A/55/L.2 and the UN initiatives to struggle for the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) introduced, Recalling also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Deeply convinced of the importance of strengthening the efforts to achieve the 1st Millennium Development Goal (MDG): eradication of extreme poverty and hunger, Recognizing the strong interconnection among the above mentioned goals, Acknowledging and stressing the importance of the Aid Target of 0,7% of GDP, Considering cooperation as the necessary key to fill the gap between the richest and the poorest countries,
Believing that development is strongly linked to economic growth, and implementation of agricultural methods; 1.
Endorses the initiative of Member States to revitalize the rural areas:
increase investments in infrastructure and social sector to stimulate economic growth. Special focus will be placed on water facilities. a.
Encourage people to stay and move back to rural and low populated areas investing in the agricultural sector. b.
support to the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in order to halving the proportion of unemployed people who do not have consequently access to food. c.
Provides special funds for revitalizing rural areas damaged by war (e.g. demining actions etc.) d.
Accordingly to the principles of the Green Economy, authorizes the FAO to play a mediator role in promoting know-how transfer especially regarding basic notions regarding food storage in order to prevent food waste in Developing Countries, offering trainings to locals; 2.
Encourages foreign capital flow to LDC aiming at improve the utilization of modern technologies in agriculture in order to increase food production; 3.
Stresses the importance of investing in human capital starting from supporting the development of educational infrastructures especially in rural areas in order to spread the knowledge on better use of the agricultural resources; 4.
Requests donor States to launch a program aiming at involving and empowering women in agricultural production since they represent almost the halve of the population of the working force in Developing Countries and they demonstrated to be the most vulnerable forces of development 5.

Encourages assistance of Developed Countries rather than aid;
Suggests to pay attention to vulnerable groups such as children, people with special needs, women, refugees, immigrants also in Developed Countries; 7.
Affirms the willingness of the Member States of pursuing the post 2015 agenda goals, stated in the Sustainable Development Goals. 8.
Amendment: 1. By Luxembourg and Malawi Luxembourg encourages other developed and capable Nations to reaffirm and recommit to the 0.7% GNI target, as well it pledges: a. To provide a substantial portion of it funds towards Sub-Saharan Africa and other impoverished areas, a.i. It will specifically focus on sustainable agriculture development.
