Resolution adopted by the General Assembly Long and short term measures to improve the situation of countries slowly proceeding towards the goal of eradicating extreme poverty The General Assembly, Recalling the purposes, values and principles the United Nations were founded on, the UN-Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;
Recalling the Millennium Declaration, the Millennium Development Goals and its resolution 61/229, entitled “New Partnership for Africa’s Development: progress in implementation and international support�; Recalling also all previously passed relevant resolutions of the General Assembly and the Security Council regarding this very urgent issue; Noting further that the 2015 mark is approaching quickly and further measures beside already existing programs should be implemented; Recognising that extreme poverty declines in every region of the world; Being Aware of the fact that, to halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people whose income is less than $1.25 a day, as defined target 1.A, has already been achieved in several countries; Expressing its appreciation of the great efforts made to enable enormous achievement in the global fight to eradicate extreme poverty, especially made by and in Asian countries, where the number of people suffering from extreme poverty has reduced fastest; Reaffirming the aim to achieve the goal of full employment for all; Recognising, that the effects of the global financial crisis has slowed the positive development in many regions by deteriorating labour markets, forcing vulnerable employment and thus producing more extreme poverty in some countries, but not stopped the trend towards meeting the Millennium Development Goals; Being Aware of the throwback the world food crisis and crop failure in 2011/2012 in most African countries has been to some countries for developing according to the MDGs; Deeply concerned by the situation in sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Southern Asia Countries where the advancements in lowering the percentage of people suffering from extreme poverty are proceeding rather slowly; Keeping in mind those countries find themselves in extremely difficult situations endangering the achievement of our common purposes of improving the living conditions of the poorest; and Recognising that there are many common issues for poorest countries, especially South America and Sub-Saharan Africa, related to high rate of poverty; lack of local markets, infrastructures industrial capabilities and a successfully working education system; Acknowledging the progress made thus far in reducing poverty worldwide and renew its commitment and its will to focus and keep working on the enhancing of living condition in every part of the globe with the final goal of eliminating poverty and reducing economic disparity; Expressing concern about the still ongoing and unresolved economic crisis that threaten the reinforcement of the progress made so far and is creating complication to many countries in taking an active and decisive role toward the achievement of the expressed goal;
Reaffirming its believe that peaceful international cooperation, both bilateral and multilateral, are the most appropriate way to provide aid and assistance to Developing Countries enabling them to achieve the aim of eradicating extreme poverty within their borders and among their citizens;

Recommends the implementation of a whole group of measures aiming at short and long term improvements using synergy effects by employing already existing organisations and institutions, instead of implementing new ones, in order to give assistance to the poorest regions and the countries in which the progress is slowest, as well as installing a body providing interregional expertise to consult States suffering from extreme poverty,

Proclaims that national efforts should be completed by supportive global programmes, measures and policies to reduce poverty, while at the same time addressing the immediate needs of the volatile and vulnerable communities in all relevant areas; 3. Encourages further improvement in order to solve the problem of the lack of drinkable water by constructing infrastructures that can provide these services, as it strongly affects food security by diminishing agricultural productivity, as well as by obstructing human health and the economic development, 4. Underlines the significance of Social investments and expanded social assistance programs, as well as the need of further integration of the poorest into the production sector; 5. Strongly encourages the empowerment of women, especially those from the rural areas, through bottom-up approach in cooperation with the World Food Program providing women with income generating opportunities as already successfully practiced in other States, namely Sudan, 6. Recalls the supportin creating a legal framework in order to assure a healthy role of the women commitment in the community, 7. Expresses its hope to implement institutional basis for professional training for people living in rural regions, also aiming at increasing youth employment, in order to create and transfer know-how aiming at strengthening local economies in the long term, particularly on behalf of agricultural, services, mining sector and generable energy supplies improvements, coordinating this measure with the UN Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development (IANYD), 8. Wishes to better manage the population growth through an educational programme that can raise the awareness on sexual contraception and build adequate workshops related to the topic, 9. Suggests the implementation of a microcredit-system among African countries to foster small local businesses (as part of World Bank in cooperation with the African Development Bank), 10. Recognises further that Developing Countries should be integrated into the world economy sharing equitability through the globalisation of justice, equity solidarity and partnership;

Strongly encourages the further installation of generable energies by measures such as photovoltaic systems on official buildings, the promotion of bio energy in rural areas and promote green growth in general, 12. Expresses its appreciation of further research and development concerning beneficial crops for LDC as well as further efforts to promote advanced technological development for agricultural machinery in Development Countries, 13. Firmly disapproves monopolisation of lands for exploitation and therefore calls for support of local farmers, according to a bottom-up strategy, 14. Encourages the increase of expenditure for health purposes as well as for primary education in order to reduce social imbalance, 15. Reaffirms the significance of the creation of regional and interregional cooperation in order to achieve a more coherent and effective strategy with a common view on nutrition, education, employment, infrastructure, income distribution, health and housing; 16. Decides to remain actively seized in the matter, specifically to pursuing the post 2015 agenda goals, i.e. the Sustainable Development Goals.
