Rehabilitation Ceramics Research Center “LA CERAMO” Polytechnic University of Valencia
Valencia, Spain The Ceramo was a ceramics factory parts, subsequently closed and is now uninhabited. At the same time the Ceramo is part of the collective memory of the neighborhood. The rehabilitation project fits into this enviroment and aims to provide residents of Benicalap with a meeting place both inside and outside the building. It is designed in two parts. The first to replace the old factory with a new “Center of Investigation for ceramics”. The second part aims to exploit this new urban plan and create housing for researchers working at the center. This iconic building has a central location within the urban fabric, which is proposed as a new center for the district of Benicalap in which main roads converge.
The intention of rehabilitating this old factory goes beyond its importance as a building. · The multipurpose room in which the various groups of neighbors can use it for meetings. · The Place of Remembrance where you can learn more about the Ceramo and its heritage and historic value. · Documentation Centre and archives. Which restores the facade of the av.Burjassot. · Area of research and laboratories, these labs serve to make R & D research on ceramics. The area of laboratories, research and outreach. At the same time recover the old arches.

The old Neo-Mudejar façade. This type of architecture Neo-Mudejar is not fortuitous; but is the product of a rich tradition mixed in Detalle modern times once again was present. The old factory tiled main task was to reuse the old Arab técnia 1/50 luster, which gives a unique finish to ceramics.
Treatment of the facade Tratamiento de lamain fachada principal
Despite having closed the factory. This facade is a recognizable landmark for all residents of Benicalap. That is why the need to restore the facade was essential for the project. That is why for the restoration of the facade we opted for selective preservation. Consolidation that is the current state of the facade parts and secondly the cover of degraded surfaces. This is done selectively and critically in which new materials are easily recognizable; but to help complete the picture of the facade without incurring a historical wrong.

Urban Project The urban walking route “BENICALAP” Polytechnic University of Valencia
Valencia, Spain After analyzing the Barrio de Benicalap and its surroundings, my proposal gives priority to value and recover all existence that can be reused. Therefore the pedestrian street José Grollo searches: · Connect the various parks and squares in Benicalap, while producing a journey through the “town” until reaching the historic center. · Consolidate the street J.Grollo as a “street village” historically generated by the occupation of the urban fabric by neighbors. · Use your winding morphology and use it to propose a tour that appraise of old houses.

There aren’t cultural facilities that can generate a common identity in the population.
Different activities take place but trade is concentrated in the area of Benicalap “village”.

Historical Evolution of Benicalap along the road to Burjassot, Benicalap is formed.
while other paths generate a network. the town of Marxalenes exists and is a crossing point between the city and Benicalap town. Bridge of San Jose is the only access to the walled city of Valencia.
1812 at this time the Burjassot avenue parallel to the old path is traced, this will sustain the urban fabric densify
tile factory “The Ceramo” was founded in 1885
parallel populations between different paths occupy larger area
The wall disappears
1899 The division has been made from the shape of plots of crops.
Transit roads and the road to Barcelona, which appear segmented populations.
Benicalap and Marxalenes are consolidated
1944 In the contemporary period, the new generated urban fabric is more fluffy and blocks are more permeable. Benicalap “town” is within this tissue and is recognizable, both two tissues and their performances are totally different. The J.Grollo road is winding and remains a neuralgic way that revitalizes Benicalap in parallel with the Av. Burjassot of more commercial nature. Both have a pedestrian scale that enriches the neighborhood.
The parks and plazas occur in the path toward the river and open the possibility of connecting via a pedestrian route.

Competition Colombes 70 Social Housing MFR architectes
Paris, France The volume was imposed, forcing us to retreat 1m from the third floor. Also we had to generate at least two emerging volumes. The proposal went through two phases: The first was finding the type of sloped roofs, which should have volumes that emerge at the same time define a scale appropriate to the environment and designed to create the 70 homes without producing too heavy volume. After setting the volume and scale of each emerging volume, the second phase was to propose windows and balconies to make a composition with different facades in a balanced manner. Due to the volume of the building rigorous development of competition was complex. The volume is defined as a succession of small houses with sloping with different altimetry and various facades ceilings.

Paris, France In this competition we work on the different possibilities of the facade, is there where we have work, in this limit and transition to the city. The legislation allowed from first floor we could overwhelm the volume. So is there where we model and vary the volume. The proposal produces transparency and continuity. At the same time lightens volume of the building. The levels are similar; but it is on the perimeter where we generate movement between the different planes that make up the facade. While the south facade uses the retreat of the volumes and generate terraces which in turn are assembled with that proposed by the other facades movement. Stone base supports the top which in turn becomes lighter with its material and shape.

Rehabilitación Sports Centre “EL CANO” Polytechnic University of Valencia
Manises, Spain The zone of “EL CANO” ancient citadel intended for the industrial manufacture of ships, is now an uninhabited place and is like a bag of unused infrastructure inside the urban fabric. I take one of the buildings and propose rehabilitate it. The concept is simple, I modify the facades perforating them strategically according to the use which they are intended. At the same time the main facade changes orientation and insert in this metamorphosis income in the form of “L” and placed inside the ship shaped boxes different program elements. I prioritize maintaining transparency and breadth of the nave, also through a system of walkways and auxiliary structures I connect two aisles without harming the ground floor.

This old industrial area is located between two villages. In this situation this area can be reused; but first we must propose different uses of its infrastructure and subsequently convert the buildings for the benefit of the people.
At the beginning was difficult to manage the preexistences; make a new project with its own identity; but based in this factory environment, structures, volume, was a challenge match the past with the future and achieve a synthesis that work together with the new function of the warehouse.

Ontinyent, Spain The project was design a planning for a area in Ontinyent, this area has some conections with the rest of the city but was a kind of limit betewn the city and the crops, was close to it the river as well. Make a new residencial tissue envolves make several services which must be complement the existins buildings and services. Based in references that the profesor give me I follow some general lines of design to provide to this housing a filter and diferent levels of privacy, which is important in any design of the cities. The tissue needs to be conected but at the same time needs to work with his own identity, to define the neigbourhoud.

This ancient housing, deconstructed and re defined for a new use diferent to live there permanently, but at the same time similar because is a service which give to the visitor not just the option to sleep there but make the visitor feel like is inside Albufera. By the other hand the volumetry is adapted to new ways to build but remaining some basic features which keep the original idea but open the conection with the past but look beyond.

Cajamarca, Peru These houses have been made it for a bigger program which envolves the Pacri-Project which basically manage all the problems around make a new highway in the highlands of the Cajamarca comunity. Our work was design, manage the problems related with the owners of these areas and work together with lawyers, sociologist and engineers. The work was made it in 2 parts, First part we research about the earthquake resistant housing but was with mud house or adobe, because is usual in this place build houses with adobe, the termic confort is much better than concrete, and the houses were 70% more cheap than with concrete and brick, because in the middle of the highland the transportation of building material is difficult. The experience to built those house is very important for me to learn how manage a building since the first step until the final. the projects were define most of the time for the owner, from that I learn as well because I could see the influence in the design and how some normal uses for us can be totally wrong for others and the culture plays a relevant rol in the design. Definitly a good experience.
