HI,
This portfolio showcases some of my best personal designs from residential to commercial spaces. Including designs that showcase who I am and how I approach each challenge. Rommy Daniela, born and raised in Bogota, Colombia. I moved to the United States in 2008 and have always seen a passion for design in all aspects such as: photography, drawing, painting, architecture, and especially interior design. Decided to pursue my passion and let it flourish. I joined the Miami International University of Arts and Design in 2015 while working in the hospitality industry. This allowed me to understand and see the endless possibilities of design and the importance of it in day to day activities. While growing in the Hospitality industry, I graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. The following projects took place all throughout my studies and showcase the passion and analytics that go behind every design. I look forward to expanding my knowledge and growth in the design industry taking into consideration the everyday design challenges. Enjoy,

The inspiration behind this design is based on features of an industrial loft. Using common elements we will create a modern environment with natural light and the use of several types of unique textiles throughout each room. The creation of this loft is intended to reflect an intimate, warm and inviting environment. The interior walls and floor are concrete which beckon us to create a worldly vibe by playing with various styles of art-work and strategic splashes of color throughout the loft. The goal is to create a space that is relaxing and multi cultural, a space where my client can slip away from the daily grind of city living, to an oasis of comfort and relaxation.

Clean, contemporary and minimal would best describe the overall mood of the space, the Da-Shi villa home comes from the inspirations between the traditional Japanese architecture and interiors along with the connection between human and environment. Throughout the house the creation of abstract divisions with a open layout that will adapt to the client needs; by using elements of nature and incorporating them into the house we will create zen areas that will give the house a connection with the site. Our design will utilize modern furniture upholstered in a variety of solid textured fabrics that will provide warmth, comfort and subtle visual interest while maintaining a minimalist feel along with functional interiors that will be able to provide serenity throughout the house.

“I don’t know what terrible things you’ve done in your life up to this point, but clearly your karma is out of balance to get assigned to my class. I am professor Annalise Keating and this is Criminal Law 100 or as I prefer to call it “How to Get Away with Murder.” Annalise self-sufficient and confident woman. She seemed to have a perfect life and was respected for being a great lawyer and a great criminal professor, whom her students both fear and admire. Annalise is a woman with two faces; one of them, a strong woman, that she shows the world, while the other, a sentimental and destroyed human being. Annalise seems like she has it all - a successful career and a loving husband Sam. But soon she is forced to confront secrets about her life she never saw coming.
Julian Troy Residence is based on the two face life that Annalise Keating lives. The house starts with a open layout in the foyer which takes us to the living and dining room which are public areas that are shown to all guest. To implement the two face life, the house evolves in the corridor that takes us to the private and semi-private areas of the house. The dark shades are taken to represent Annalise’s mysterious side; and the splashes of color to represent her bright side. / 14

Luxurious and Eclectic are the best words to describe the purpose of the Troy’s Residence design. A mix inspired from figurative art and photography of Herb Ritts, along with the erotic and sensual vibes of Marilyn Minter’s artworks using the bridge between black and white with saturated colors. The novel “How to get away with murder” will play part in using the thrill and excitement to design an open layout that will take advantage of the beach views through the house. The ability to disconnect Troy’s residence from reality that will be suited to create a feeling of happiness, inspiration and also interiors that will speak out of creativity. All together creating unique spaces that will inspire for innovation and originality that will also provide the Troy’s Residence overall layout the possibility to design private spaces suited to his needs as well as entertainment areas that will provide guest with accommodations.

Influences
The inspiration for the long open windows comes from the Umbrella House by Paul Rudolph. The windows will take advantage of the natural lighting and will also give the housea full view of the ocean. The inspiration for the flat roof around the house is taken from the interconnected geometric shape of the Sarasota City Hall. Which helps the house with the strong pie shape. The inspiration for the overall look of the house is taken from the Hiss Studio by Edward J. Seibert. Which takes advantage of the modern feeling as well as utilizing the airflow and the subtropical Sarasota landscape.

The Healing Retreat Jade is created and designed is based on three inspirations; the history behind the mandalas and it’s healing abilities, the connection between mind, body and soul with natural places such as Marco Island, and the medical background studies of Mercedes Villalba. These three inspirations were able to finalize the design concept of the retreat hotel, addressing and providing support through mental, emotional and spiritual therapies that will create a space that allows patients to reconnect with their spiritual self. The project aspires to be able to create a unique place for patients to take care and overcome personal challenges from spiritual, mental and/ or physical. Nowadays, retreats and/or therapy allows only the patients to have use of these services but will change with this hotel. Providing a hotel area for other members that will also indulge them to a vacation of the chosen site for the healing retreat hotel will make all the difference. The ultimate goal for the hotel is to be set aside from what is normally known as the “inpatient treatments” which are places that “provides patients with residential-style accommodations so he or she can live on-site for the duration of the program”

The screen or luminaire is inspired after the shapes and meaning of mandalas. Creating a sense of one’s self through the representation of the layers (phases) that we take. Lighting it up can cause the effect or representation of “our center” that will showcase all layers as one representing our persona.

D e s i g n e r . . .
The layered luminaire/screen is inspired after the representation of the mandalas. The idea is to showcase the different paths that a person can take and how a person can see it from within. It all starts at the center which represents our soul, taking it from there to flourish as needed not leaving aside the main purpose of oneself to create a life that goes along with being content and fulfilled. The object is able to represent me as a designer with different perspectives and meanings. every layer represents a new learning or path in the career, the choices that led me to how I design today and the people or professors that made certain aspect of my design skills to bloom. The colors used in each mandala have a connection. Using white to represent the innocence and purity, gray to represent balance and neutral and black to represent power and sophistication which together creates the representation of different designs achieved. The center of the mandalas which means oneself represents the design signature that every designer is able to achieve that showcases one’s personality.
