SELECTED WORKS (2013 - 2020)

RONAK KOTHARI Indian born, June 10th 1995 ronakhkothari10@gmail.com +91 9167306090 9/10, Shree Nath Krupa, Sector 11, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

Based in Navi Mumbai, I am a graduate in B.Arch at the University of Mumbai. The knowledge and experience acquired during the course along with professional encounters has developed a critical sense and an understanding about this field, which also is quiet open to new experiences. Looking at the bigger picture and applying that understanding on the smallest of details is what architecture is for me.

Two pairs of studios and classrooms are arranged in such a way that each studio has a direct access to its respective classrooms. Such a configuration allows the studio to have openings from three of its sides. And a common place for two studios acts as a balcony or as a terrace as they are stacked, letting the sunlight inside the configuration. 17

STUDIO BUILDING, SCL TOWNSHIP

RAIPUR, INDIA

45

Studio building in the proposed SCL townships is a single structure typology, that accomodates people that need a single bedroom space to stay for either a long haul in the studio wing A or someone who is visiting the place for a short period of time, who end up staying in the Guest House wing B. This typology is part of a larger township which is designed for the employees of the Shree Cement Limited company’s cement plant, which is located a few kilometers away from the township site. The design language used in the above mentioned typology is similar to that of the township designed.

The balconies are designed in such a way, that it gives a random appearance from afar. But when looked at it closely, it may be noticed that on each level, one balcony is the odd one out in the way it is oriented. While vertically, the oddly oriented balcony as shown in red alternates as either the 2nd or the 4th from one side of the facade.

Altamount road, Mumbai

‘Hillcrest’ is a luxury residential project whose site is connected to both altamount road as well as Peddar Road. Its a 17 floor tower, with 17 5BHK flats (one flat per floor). The terrace flr houses a gym as well as an infinity swimming pool.

I was added to this project as and when the project got revived after being on hold for more than a year. Since, the project was in design stage, I had the opportunity to work on execution strategy for the construction of 5 floor long basement. Also, the site at Altamount rd. and at Peddar Rd. had a significant height difference, which led us to experiment various site design. Some of the options included connecting both the levels via a ramp and having 2 Pick up and Drop in such a small site (approx 1487 sq.m.)

‘Magnus’ is a 3 wing residential complex in MIG Colony located in Bandra East. Where, Wing A and B is 30 floors long while Wing C tops at 22 floors. A parking tower connects wings AB to C, forming a visual monolith.

When I was added on this project, it was already at a stage where 8th flr was being constructed on site. Hence, this project gave me a an understanding

of

the nuances for larger scale execution and architecture construction. Since, the show flat was getting ready, many finishing details and mockups were going on at this poeriod of the project. 50
