RonanParkeFans.com ROY - EDITOR Since 2012 after seeing Ronan Parke on YouTube I have been supporting Ronan Parke online via Twitter, Facebook and ronanparkefans.com HOW IT STARTED - As I was browsing YouTube I came across the BGT channel where Ronan`s audition video is on. While watching and listening I could not believe he was just 12 years old. Still a boy`s voice but wow what a voice it was. I searched for more videos and found the semi-final and final video. Ronan`s voice hit me and I just had to hear more so another search on YouTube and I found his VEVO account where Ronan had uploaded a few acoustic songs series called Ronan Parke Sings. Jar of Hearts was my favorite after the first time I heard it. Finding Ronan`s music was a bit harder for me. The album Ronan Parke was not available in the iTunes store here in the Netherlands but I was able to find it later on, even the CD. I was thinking about building a website around Ronan but there was not much available to place on there so I decided to create another website that did not only listed Ronan but other young artists like him. The website 100% Talent was born. A year later I did make a website just about Ronan and three years later it has become ronanparkefans.com.

Ronan sang “You and Me” in mandarin, a famous Chinese song performed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, with Lv Wei alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra. Ronan also performed his single “We Are Shooting Stars” that evening.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO WORK WITH KIDSCAPE? They work very closely with children who are going through a hard time because of bullying and it is hard to find organisations that specialise in helping young people deal with this. It is essential to have people to talk to when experiencing bullying and the Kidscape team are the people. They dedicate so much time and passion into what they do and I find it truly inspiring.

SOMETIMES PEOPLE ARE BULLIED FOR THEIR HOBBIES AND PASSIONS, WHICH CAN SADLY MAKE THEM WANT TO AVOID THE THINGS THEY LOVE. IS THIS SOMETHING YOU EXPERIENCED?

So much that it made him insecure about his talent and music. Actually, no. Singing is my passion and that helped me through bullying. It is almost a sense of relief when I sing. I forget everything else that is going on in my life. Having something to focus on can encourage you to ignore the bullies and realize that you are worth something and that there are so many more important things in life.

WHAT HELPED YOU TO OVERCOME THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF BULLYING? My fans were so supportive and I am so thankful for that. I have an incredible family who I can always open up to. I also had a team of people around me who were helping me through different challenges I was faced with, but not everyone has that.

YOU CAN`T AND WONT BE

DEFINED I would definitely recommend talking to a family member or a friend. It’s not always easy opening up about being bullied, because you can sometimes feel weak. But people need to understand that being bullied is not a weakness. My mum always said to me that people talking about you only means one thing - that you are more important and relevant than anything else going on around you. Positive thinking always helps and it’s sayings like that which can just make you realise that you are more important and special than you think.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO YOUNG PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING CYBER BULLYING? Try your very best to ignore it, even though it’s not always easy. Some people used to pick on me because they

didn’t think I was strong. When I stood up for myself, they weren’t expecting it. Standing up for yourself is key, but that doesn’t mean you have to get into an argument with the bullies, you just have to know your worth and be confident. Don’t let people get you down. And of course, speak to someone you trust as they can help. I promise you, that keeping things locked inside never helps. Be brave. sit amet mollis. Aliquam condimentum in tortor eget convallis. FIRST SOLO EVENT

EPIC STUDIO 2012 REVIEW BY GEOFF MAHER Epic Studios, Norwich UK: 20th July 2012 5.00pm - the footpath outside the venue was alive with a line-up of fans eagerly awaiting the doors to swing open. This was no ordinary venue. Purpose built as an urban boutique studio with the latest audio and visual capability there was a buzz just to see the hardware & furniture inside… and this was no ordinary singer performing on an ordinary night. Ronan Parke had stormed the UK media scene in the previous 12 months and this night was to be his first standalone gig under new management in front of a home grown crowd. After a long campaign of social media teasers and a studio cutting room release [Rainbow Connection] finally the night had arrived. Great things were in place, and great things were expected. Right on cue the doors opened…Show time. From the moment the crowd rushed in it was obvious that Epic studios and Ronan’s new management had pushed all the big buttons…the room was a stunning tech production… and the roaming TV cameras were real and blinking red lights in tune to the audience expectations. The sound room resembled a Star Trek cockpit. Despite all the staged ambience and techno wizardry there was something even more special in the room… an atmosphere of family homecoming, of friendships formed, of meeting in the flesh for the first time, of fans who had earned their badge of honour to be here. Everyone in the room had a pre-show photo opportunity with Ronan and Ben Pryer back stage. By the time the lights dimmed the atmosphere was primed for party mode. Listening to Ronan on CD or YouTube cannot adequately prepare you for the majesty of his voice and the stunning power of his vocal delivery. After a shy and polite welcome to the crowd the music kicked in and the microphone melted…the studio engineers held onto their headsets and Ronan filled the room with

his newly matured voice and choreography. Wow!! This was no come back after a 6 month hiatus…this was a master performer in charge of his delivery and the crowd swayed and melted and rocked and rolled in harmony. The cameras rolled, the MC/DJ mastered every moment and the crowd screamed non-stop. This is the stuff that great gigs are made of and in years to come this will be the defining moment where unforgettable memories are forged. After nailing new covers of ‘Sweet Child O’Mine’ ‘You & I’ finally the moment arrived to unleash the new single ‘We Are Shooting Stars’. In a master stroke the new Music Video was beamed out on big screen TV’s and even bigger speakers and for the first time the audience was subdued… not by silence but by awe. The video was recorded in the studio they were standing in and the images being beamed showed a mature Ronan with a harder, raw musical edge and moves to melt anyone… this was definitely not BGT audition mode. When the video faded and the screen went blank everyone found their voice again and the screams could be heard in the sound proof engineer’s cubicle. This was fantastic!! Then, without mercy, Ronan reappeared on stage to deliver Live & acoustic versions of the song. This was a music mania overload and whether you liked the song or not, no one could deny Ronan had the voice and charisma to carry any gig to new heights and atmospheres. The night ended the same way it started…Ronanator’s engaging with fellow Ronanator’s, random selfies and group shots… everyone recognising a powerful experience. Many of the same fans met the next day in Colchester for the ‘Music & Miracles’ concert. At this gig Ronan Top Billed the set ahead of Jai McDowell, The winner of the BGT series. After the Epic studio gig many would say Ronan should have top billed the BGT final as well.

I made this twitlonger because @Ronans_ StarX is really sick about the fact that she can’t come Saturday... She breaks down to the fact that she can’t see you Saturday. She breaks down to the fact that she can’t hug you Saturday. She breaks down to the fact that she can’t kiss you Saturday. She breaks down to the fact that she can’t talk to you Saturday. She breaks down to the fact that she can’t hear you sing Saturday. She breaks down to the fact that she can’t take a pic with you Saturday. She breaks down to the fact that she can’t take your hand Saturday. Ronan, Nina feels so bad because she can’t do this all... But, There’s still one thing that makes Nina the most sad, and that one specially thing is... that she can’t take you to Belgium! Roro, the #BelgiumRonanators loves you so so much!! The day that you and Nina meet each other, that’s the day that I’m the happiest girl on earth! And of course Nina too... Ronan, I’m so proud that i can call Nina my best friend! Beijing Fan Story “How I met Ronan...” “After seeing the photos Ronan had posted on Weibo after his arrival in Beijing I decided to try to visit the hotel which I could see was close to the ‘Birds Nest Stadium’, So I left home at eight thirty and after two and a half hours found what I thought was the hotel. There were other fans awaiting various of the stars who had been on the concert. I waited for more than an hour and even wondered if this was the right hotel – I wanted to ask the receptionist – and then on my mobile noticed Ronan had made his first post of the day on Weibo at noon – he would have been up late last night, New Years Eve.

I then asked Ronan if he would sign some photos and CD’s I had brought. He said “OK” and very carefully signed each photo with a gold pen waiting till each one dried and signing very carefully in the top right hand corner.

Then I see two European men who I recognise from the photo Ronan posted in Tianamen Square after which I see a lady in a red coat (KayWebber, Ronan’s voice coach) and Ronan’s mother. They went to the Coffee Shop and as they left I got up the courage to ask, “ Are you Ronan Parke’s mother ? I have a gift for him, would you give it to him?” His mother said “Oh, thank you. How long have you been waiting? We would love to give him your gift, but he will soon be coming downstairs, why don’t you give it to him personally?” Then his Mother said, “ How did you recognise us.” I showed them the photos on Weibo on my phone. “ Wow, amazing, Microblogging magic.” his mother said.

I said “I hope you come back to Beijing soon.” To which he replied, “ Ha, ha, I also very much hope to come back, it is brilliant. I have loved every second here, everyone is so kind.”

After 10 minutes Ronan came down and I had a chance to say hello , Ronan replied “ Oh, thank you for coming. How far have you come ? “ I told him 2 hours and asked if I could take a photo. He said “Of course” and he let me put my arms around his shoulder while he put his hand gently on my back. First we took digital photos then a Polaroid, at which point Ronan’s manager came up and was amazed to see the photo emerge and immediately asked where can you buy one.

It all took just about 20 minutes, but I have met him and have photos and signed pictures and a signed CD. I wish I had prepared more and was better organized to talk to him, but I never thought I would get the chance to actually speak with him and meet his mother and the lovely people with him.”

Afterwards I asked how he feels about Beijing. “ It is a really beautiful, amazing place. I really like the people here they have given me such a warm welcome. I had a chance to look around yesterday and saw Tianamen Square and many other places.”

Then Ronan’s manager said they had to go to the reception desk. While they did this I looked at the camera photos and found they had the wrong exposure. After leaving the desk Ronan and his mother came back over and I explained about the photos and asked could I have another photo and he immediately agreed. I also took a Polaroid shot and gave it to him and then we had to say goodbye as they walked out to a taxi and I headed back to the bus station.

NINA PAUWELS: WALK A THOUSAND MILES.... his is the incredible story of Nina Pauwels and her battle with a painful spinal condition called scoliosis. Nina shares her battle and the inspiration she received from Ronan during her recovery from an operation....especially after being awarded ‘Fan of the Week’ by Ronan. The story is written in Nina’s own words the way it was written. You can visit the website Nina’s mum set up to see more... www.mijnscolioseenik.be 13years, a big Belgian Ronanator, and not the power to walk... That’s me. I’m Nina Pauwels, a Belgian girl who had scoliosis, in a really, really bad form... My story starts when i discovered Ronan in 2011. A cute boy with an awesome voice! Yes, he was the most great singer i have ever seen and he was even a year younger than me! However, my friend went to London and bought me the CD ‘A Thousand Miles’ for me. I was so happy! It really made my day! But a few days after that, i heard the saddest news ever... I was ill, well, it’s to say... My spine was growing all the wrong way. It made a bend of 50 degrees. How could this happen so fast? Why did it hurt

so much? Why can’t i feel my legs anymore? So much questions... No answers.. 2 years later, i had to make a choice... The doctor warned me. I had a choice: Or just leave my spine like it was, and live in a weelchair, or operate me. There were 3 big risks at the surgury. 1. There was a big chance i would have to be operated for the second time. 2. There was a chance that my body would reject the titanium staves. And the biggest one: there was 80% chance i would become paralyzed and live in a weelchair... So, what did i have to do? My mom told me i had to choose. I sat on my room... Alone... With only drawings of Ronan and posters of my other idol Ian Thomas on my wall. Listening to 1 song: “A Thousand Miles”. It was about walking. I started to cry with 1 big question: “Would i ever walk again?”. I was doubting myself, but then i heard ‘stronger than i am’ and ‘fix you’. There was a way. I’m strong! I can handle that surgery! So i went downstairs and cried that i choosed for the surgery! “Maybe, if it works, i can meet Ronan one day and tell him he has changed my life!” i thought hopefully. 5 November 2012... I laid on the operation-table, saying goodnight to my mom, even if it was 7.00 a.m. I had to cry, my mom stayed strong... I love her so much... >>>>

Doc came in and said he would bring me asleep... I felt sleepy, and was singing in myself: “If I could fall Into the sky Do you think time Would pass me by ‘Cause you know I’d walk A thousand miles If I could Just see you Tonight...” I woke up... Had pain everywhere, but i couldn’t feel my legs! I thought the doctors failed... I felt like i was paralyzed... But the docs said: “You’re not! You just have to learn how to walk again!”. I cried. 10 days in the hospital. 10 days of hell and suffering. I had 2 things who kept my head up: Ian Thomas, and Ronan David Parke! After 5 days in the hospital, i did get a visit. My first dream came true... It was Ian Thomas, bringing me a visit, and guess what? He teachem me how to walk again! He was so proud of me, and i’m of him! (We still skype with eachother!). Well now, we’re 4 months farther I can walk a little bit on my own, but i need help to stand up! But yesterday, a miracle happened... I saw Ronan Parke tagged me in a reaction. I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was fan of the week! OMG! I started to crie... Of happiness.

We would also be more than happy to send a signed autograph from Ronan to Nina if you can provide us with a mailing address” I couldn’t believe what i was reading? Did my idol read my story? Was he really SO it that he had requested to talk to me? No serious, was i dreaming? I started laughing so so so hard. It was such a blessing to me!Friday night, it was still a week before my control. Ronan and I would call at 7. P.M. Belgium time. So i waited... Again laying in my bed, waiting for a sign of life. Nothing... We went to my grandmother, where we would spend the night after Ronan’s call. But there was still nothing. Hours and hours passed. When it was 10. P.M., we got a mail from the management Ronan was stuck in traffic. Understanding and still a little

My back was healing quickly and i also walked a little bit again. It was also the week Ronan came for the very first time on Belgium television. Oh, you couldn’t even imagine how proud i was when i heard him on the radio (on my way to Leuven, hospital) the day after his debut on Belgian tv!Then months passed, and suddenly things were getting worser... I started suffering. It was my 5th month at home. I started feeling pain again. What was this?The doctor said it would be a hard, physical journey (read ‘A Thousand Miles’ part 1) but it would also be a hard, mental journey...Everything seemed black and white. My pink glasses were gone... The world was my one and only misery..And JUST when i was about collapse, i’e got the forgotten phone call from Ronan Parke... I stayed strong all the time, but i think i wasn’t the one who was crying...Ronan’s voice was shaking and he sniffed sometimes. So i decided to ask:

“Are you crying?”. Ronan answered and laughed “Can you feel the fire...is it burning up inside” through his tears: “Ugh yeah... I’m sorry!”. It’s not that i remember very much, but i remember him telling me this: “You’re such an inspirational girl. I can’t believe i have such strong and amazing fans like you. I’m you’re fan and i admire everything you did go through. I mean, how you go through everything with that beautiful smile on your face... That’s just... Wauw... So please, don’t EVER feel alone! I believe in you and I really hope we’ll meet one day!” So... We called like that for 15 minutes... The talk did go on and on, it made me so happy. The days after the phone call, including my birthday, were really the best days of my life! I can’t even describe how much it meant to me! On my birthday, people started tagging me in comments on a status of Ronan Parke! I decided to look and saw really A STATUS ABOUT ME! RONAN DAVID PARKE UPDATED A STATUS ABOUT ME! AND A TWEET!! I was speecheless. I screamed, but i was speecheless. Sounds so weird... But yea, it as like that... A few days later, i couldn’t sleep anymore. I got hate, all the time. And my healthy was not very good. “Hi Ronan I’m Nina” I became very sick. More than only a cold. I had so much headache and sometimes i even couldn’t breath. It was the feeling i had in the hospital: Hopeless... Alone... Even when Ronan told me to never feel alone, i still felt like this. DON’T GET ME WRONG! It’s just a feeling...I also had to cry every time of the day. My moms back at work, my grandma takes care of me, so, it felt like everything went wrong...I saw a lot of status updates about girl who’ll see Ronan in a month. I’m so incredibly happy for them, and asked my mom (and so asked Ronan) if i could go. Unfortunately the doctors, and my mom as well, don’t allow me to go. Mom tried to arrange it, but i just can’t travel at the moment. I’s still too weak... So i want to give a message, to everyone who will see Ronan, in coming months: Please, try to greet him in my place I’m sure my time will come, just don’t know when But it will come! And then, i’ll meet a lot of Ronanators, ànd Ronan. But i hope he will not be too emotional...Because i cry very fast haha I hope this story can get quickly a part 3 “My meeting with my idol!”. But i want to thank you guys too. You gave me hope, and support. And i’m sure you will do this as long as the Ronanator-ship exists: FOREVER! Lots and lots of Love Nina
