2 of 5 Leafie, a Hen Into the Wild 2011 Film Leafie, A Hen into the Wild is a 2011 South Korean film which depicts the freedom Animated, Will Hen and Instinctive motherly love of a duckling as she raises an adopted duckling. Initial Release:July 28, 2011 (South Korea) Director:Oh Seong-Yun Running time:94 minutes Story by:Hwang Seonmi Screenplay:Eun-Jeong Kim,Na Hyun Retrieved from WikipediA 1/2014http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leafie,_A_Hen_into_the_Wild 1/2014 Quotes and Review: This is a fable about a chicken who calls herself Sprout. Sprout gave herself this name, "the best name in the world" because of what it means. “... Sprout wanted to do something with her life, just like the sprouts on the acacia tree. That was why she'd named herself after them. Nobody called her Sprout, and she knew her life wasn't like a sprout's” “... Life wasn't like a sprout's, but still the name made her feel good. It was her secret. Ever since she'd named herself, she'd gotten into the habit of noting the events occurring outside the coop;”

3 of 5 “... When she saw them reborn in light green the following spring, she was overcome with excitement. Sprout was the best name in the world. A sprout grew into a leaf and embraced the wind and the sun before falling and rotting.” “... He's leaving! She'd always known this day would come. But she hadn't had enough time to talk to him or give him a proper good-bye. Greentop took off again and flapping powerfully to catch up to the other ducks,” Sprout's sad life consists of laying eggs that she will never see again. Never becoming a mother to children. This poor hen wants desperately to become a mother and raise chicks of her own. Because of this. Sprout becomes depressed. This caused her to stop eating. Because of her sadness she becomes weak, skinny and stops laying eggs. Sprout is finally culled from the coop. Will Sprout ever become a mother? Will Sprout's dream of flying ever come true? The story is also about dreams. Not letting anyone tell you that your dreams will not come true. You need to fight for your dreams. Even if this means having to break the rules. It's about prejudice, rejection and depression. The story is about not hiding away and just wishing things in your life will get better. You need to get out into the world and work on making your dreams come true. The fable is also about raising children and going through the pain of one day having to set them free to live their own lives.

4 of 5 A must read!! Easy to read. Worth reading more than once. A great book for all ages. In my opinion, this would be a good book for teenage women to read and discuss. The chapters are short. Makes for a good bedtime story. It may be a little scary for younger children. Be prepared to explain the meaning of 'culled'. The ending may be a little sad. Hint! Do angels fly? I give it 5 out of 5 stars.
