Yudori

Yudori is very character driven within her illustration. Most of her work is a reflection of her research. Yudori tends to research and develop her knowledge of European history and costume , this all informs the level of detail and decoration of her characters. She plays around with the representation of race within these pieces as well. A reflection of both her own proud heritage and a way of countering the erasure of people of colour within modern retellings of historical periods. Her blog is pretty popular however Yudori doesn't tend to promote her self due to her own personal reasons.

Richie Pope

Richie Pope does a mixture of both character and narrative work. He promotes himself in a multitude of ways. By doing a lot of editorial work for npr,the New Yorker and the New York times. He also does google doodles and has a large and prolific presents on social media platforms like twitter and facebook. He is also part of the society of illustrators. Using the subjects he discusses Pope is able to put himself and his work forward, his work tends to be on big issues like race and gender identity meaning more people will read articles than lets say one about agriculture meaning more people see his editorial piece alongside said article.

Emily Carroll

Emily Carroll is definitely aligned with character and narrative, her work tends to focus mainly on short stories and using the fact that they’re made to be read online to her advantage, by making them interactive as well as creating a structure to the story that uses the lack of frame needed online to let her stories flow and reflect suspense not only visually but kinetically as well. For a long time Emily Carroll has been using both her website and twitter to promote herself as well as keeping a blog which she used to keep people up to date on her work and project that she was doing. Then after gaining recognition for her comic His Face All Red, capitalizing off this comic which gained her the Joe Shuster award for outstanding web comic, she began doing conventions and regularly updating her website alongside creating selective pieces of work for physical print which has made up her most recent book Through the woods.

Dan Berry

Dan Berry is very narrative centric, his imagery may not be as refined as previous artists however I think this allows for the characters and scenery within the panels to flow better through out it. He uses conventions as well as teaching people about comics he goes around the UK giving lectures and workshops. He also runs a podcast talking to other artist and what they do.

Hellen Jo

Hellen Jo’s work is a varied mixture of character and narrative. She works not just in illustration but in storyboarding, translating, writing and song writing. Because of this Jo has many different contacts in different sections of the creative industry. She knows how to work with cartoon producers, Tv producers and publishing companies. She also does quite a bit of collaboration work which allows her work to be apart of many different projects that sometimes go globally.
