Our commitment to sustainability covers three key areas, all of which align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We have introduced EPDs which are critical tools that quantify a product’s environmental impact through its lifecycle, from raw material extraction to end-of-life. This development aligns with the growing relevance of EPDs as critical tools in setting industry benchmarks for sustainability and regulatory compliance and aids informed decision-making for our customers and partners.

OUR ACTIVITIES & ACHIEVEMENTS

GHG

RENEWABLE ENERGY

2022 saw the completion of a £500k investment in 20,000 sqm of solar panelling on the Portbury DC site roof. This generates c.700kwh during daylight hours.

Thanks to this initiative our operations are now self-sufficient for electricity in the UK, and we reached our energy target ahead of time.

ELECTRIC / HYBRID VEHICLES & SUSTAINABLE MARITIME FUELS

In 2024 we started an innovative trial by adding a fully electric van to our delivery fleet. We have also been providing our sales force with electric and hybrid vehicles to visit our customers.

In 2023 we started a collaboration with a key transportation supplier (which is still ongoing), and we are making annual investments in Sustainable Maritime Fuels to reduce our shipping emissions.

GREEN HOUSES GAS (GHG) REPORT

We report annually according to the GHG Protocol on our Scope 1, 2 and 3 This allows us to identify the priority actions to reduce our Climate Impact

SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

To address packaging use, a task force was established in 2020 with the sole purpose of reducing wasteful packaging across all our categories & in particular to work towards eliminating the usage of all plastics and unnecessary materials.

BIODIVERSITY

A rewilding initiative has been introduced by the Portbury site. This has resulted in new trees, shrubs and pollinating flowers being planted to encourage insects to return to the area with the view to attracting other wildlife.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT & LEADERSHIP

We trained all of our senior managers on Diversity and Inclusion, achieving our 2025 target ahead of time. We are now training all our employees on this topic.

We also developed e-learning modules on Business Ethics and Sustainability to rollout to all our employees.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

In 2023, we started our community engagement and volunteering programme. Every year we select the local charities that we will be helping by providing donations, supporting charitable activities and campaigns, and providing skills and time from our workforce.

SUSTAINABLE PRODUCT DESIGN

We are committed to ensuring that we design our products in line with the Circular Economy Principles –eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials at their highest value, and regenerate nature.

We completed the training programme on the Circular Economy with all our designers and category managers. We now run regular workshops on this topic.

We identified some good opportunities to apply the Circular Economy Principles, such as reducing the weight of some of our products, eliminating unnecessary components, and increasing the recycled content of our product materials.

We completed our first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) which helps us assess (and eventually reduce) any negative environmental impact of our products.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

In line with our commitment to responsible sourcing, we ask our suppliers to align with international standards, and with our principles. We are Sedex Members, which allows us to collect data on ethical & responsible practices across our business and supply chain, run risk assessments, and run ethical audits.

We are collaborating with our suppliers to provide us solely with Chain of Custody certified wood.

For a space saving, minimal, contemporary look choose a back to wall WC, where the cistern is concealed either in a furniture unit or behind a wall.

BASIN OPTIONS

For a clean, clutter-free look opt for a wall hung WC which being lifted off the floor gives the illusion of more space in a smaller bathroom. If considering a wall hung WC you will also need to purchase a suitable WC frame to support it. See pages 118-119.

Our basins come in a range of sizes of both contemporary and classic styles to suit your needs. We have basins suitable for use with or without a pedestal. Our collection also includes semi-countertop basins perfect for fitted furniture and cloakroom options.

CLOSE COUPLED SENSOR FLUSH KITS

With a simple wave of the hand, hygienic, contactless flushing is now here for close coupled WCs. Two sizes are available depending on the size of the flush button hole in the cistern lid.

The button kits have been designed to retro-fit to existing WCs which have paddle operated flush valves. For cisterns which have pneumatic or cable operated flush valves, or where the button screws in directly to the flush valve, then the flush valve will also need to be swapped to our TR9033 valve which has a 2” base.
