If you’re reading this, it means you decided to support the TCD Fashion Show 2012 in some way - either by attending the show or helping out backstage. So first of all, a huge thanks is in order. Without you none of this would be possible! Last year was the first ever TCD Fashion Show (and the inaugural year of Trinity Fashion Society itself), so we’ve come a long way very quickly and raised a lot of money for charity en route. This year’s show is all in aid of Aware, a charity which aims to fight depression and mental illness in Ireland. We felt that this was a relevant cause that everyone could identify with, but that is often overlooked - perhaps because of social stigma and taboo. We’d like to help

break down those taboos! As well as raising money for such a great cause, we hope that the TCD Fashion Show 2012 will promote the enjoyment of fashion both in Trinity College and Dublin as a whole, encouraging people to be confident, creative and daring in the way that they dress. When the Fashion Society was first formed, there was a lot of animosity amongst certain members of the college community - people thought we’d arrived on campus to start telling people what they should or shouldn’t wear. We’re not. Trinity Fashion Society seeks to promote self-expression and individuality. We want people to feel happy and confident in what they wear, and to enjoy experimenting with what we feel is the most personal of creative mediums. On that note, we very much hope you enjoy the show, and perhaps we’ll see you again next year! Much love, Rosa Abbott Chair, Trinity Fashion Society

dt ding a touch of glamour to college life, Trinity Fashion Society believes studiousness and a sharp sense of style needn’t be mutually exclusive. Formed in 2009 to promote the enjoyment of fashion and fashion-related activities in Trinity College, our main event each year is the TCD Fashion Show. The event allows students

to get involved in all aspects of organisation - from styling to photography. The show is a charity event, raising money for St Vincent de Paul in 2011 and Aware Ireland in 2012. We also have a thriving blog (www.trinityfashionsoc.wordpress. com), which we encourage our members to contribute to, and have hosted many other events around the year. This year has

seen us organise a swap shop, a panel discussion featuring prominent Irish fashion bloggers, film screenings, a circus-themed clubnight with live acts and visuals and workshops in pattern cutting and fashion illustration. We hope that the society will only expand and improve in years to come! To become a member of Trinity Fashion Society, drop by the CSC office in House 6 during

term-time, or sign up at our stand during Freshers Week next year. If you would like to be on the committee of the society next year, our AGM will be held on Thursday 15th March at 7:30pm in the Graduates Common Room, House 7. All students of Trinity College are welcome to attend and apply for one of the positions!
