My Educational Philosophy Is Founded On Four Pillars: Art, Service, Investment, and Classroom

ART Education cannot be viewed simply as teaching someone to read and write in order for them to get a good education that will lead to a successful career. In my view, education includes the Art of interpreting the messages that body and eyes are sending, and responding and sending feedback accordingly; it is the art of designing unspoken messages in the form of images, signs and gestures that are geared towards educating others regardless of their socio-economic status, academic background, political affiliation, or religious beliefs. SERVICE Education as a Service is how we make others feel. It is in understanding that people learn from their emotional state brought about by any given experience. Education as a service involves inspiring others to achieve their personal and professional best; providing timely and constructive feedback designed to instill confidence, motivate, stimulate and satisfy the emotional and intellectual needs of others. As a service, education is the expression of compassion and understanding, as well as an appreciation and respect of others and their differences. INVESTMENT Education from an Investment standpoint is the return in the form of learning outcomes, which is derived from an investment of time, money, and resources for the acquisition knowledge, whether it is in the classroom, home, workplace or community. As an investment, education involves lesson plans designed to achieve success; needs analyses and assessments of the learner’s prior knowledge to ensure that they are sufficiently prepared to receive new knowledge; setting of learning goals and objectives for optimum results; negotiating learning contracts and expectation of learning outcomes; availability of relevant resources that support and encourage learning; setting the conditions and environment that will enable the learner to take risk, discover new things and ideas, deal with complexities, co-operate and collaborate with others. As an investment the role of education is to teach people how to invest in skills and knowledge, and further re-invest those acquired skills and knowledge to reward not only themselves but also the wider society. CLASSROOM I believe firmly that the Classroom is at the root of all forms of education. I believe that the classroom from pre-school to higher education is instrumental in the delivery, acquisition and application of knowledge. The classroom plays an important role in shaping our judicial system, medical and scientific systems, education system, financial system, political system, and religious and culture systems. Thus, it is reasonable to believe that the classroom is a microcosm of our communities and that what goes on in the classroom branches out and permeates our cognitive, behavioral and constructive communities and influences societal norms and values.
