About me
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can cach excellence” Vince Lombardi
As a designer, I always strive for an efficient design, in which nothing is wasted, so that resources and energy in producing such is not lost. Design should be like this: efficient. However, for it to be efficient, it needs to fulfill its own purpose: to provide comfort, whether this is for functional or aesthetic purposes. While, in search of efficiency, I became aware of the importance of facades in sustainability. For a building to be efficient, the facade has to provide appropriate thermal performance, adequate daylight and proper natural ventilation. Consequently, as a facade engineer, I aspire to work on the assessment of these three features. Notably, I believe I can provide while receiving new knowledge. Thus, my previous experience has provided me wth basic tools for this endeavor. Still, throughout my time in Bath, I learnt new subjects such as weathertightness, structural integrity, degradation processes of materials and facade construction and procurement. Additionally, I am a fast learner and I find it easy to learn new software.
Trayectory Throughout my studies, I became passionate about sustainability. This is why I joined Biomah -sustainable design bureau- and studied a PG Dip in Sustainable Design. There I learnt the importance of facades in energy consumption of buildings. Consequently, I became interested in facades and applied for a Master degree at Bath. While applying and solving VISA requirements and as to continue to learn about sustainability, I spent some time in CIVITA -engineering bureau specialized in LEED certification-. Although, I wanted to stay longer, I had to continue my thirst for knowledge in facades. Finally, after completing PG Dip in Facade Engineering at the University of Bath, I am doing my dissertation in order to be awarded with a Master degree.
